About
Collect awesome monsters to use during turn-based battles in this open-world RPG. Combine any two monster forms using Cassette Beasts’ Fusion System to create unique and powerful new ones!
Welcome to New Wirral, a remote island inhabited by strange creatures you’ve only dreamed of, nightmares you hopefully haven’t, and a cast of brave folks who use cassette tapes to transform for battle. To find a way home you’ll need to explore every inch of the island, and record monsters to your trusty cassette tapes to gain their abilities!
Faced with the constant threat of monster attacks, the residents of Harbourtown, New Wirral choose to fight fire with fire. Record a monster to tape, then play it back to take on its form for battle!
Getting close to your companion has benefits–while transformed you can combine your strengths to gain the upper hand in battle! Any two monster forms can be fused to produce unique, fully-animated new fusion forms.
Certain monster abilities can be used in human form. You’ll need these to help you get around, solve puzzles, and locate dungeons. Glide, fly, swim, climb, dash, or turn magnetic! Take on the Gauntlet – a never-ending battle mode where you’ll face fearsome enemies for precious material and glory!

Never fight alone! Form bonds, spend time together, and help your selected partner complete personal goals to become a better team. The strength of your relationship determines how well you’re able to fuse!
Take advantage of elemental chemistry to apply extra buffs or debuffs alongside your attack, or even alter your opponent’s elemental type!

It's a great creature collector and the spin on the fighting, that you are the one fighting instead of sending out animals in a rooster-fighting-ring kind of way is very nice.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

One of the best Pokemon-like games on PC, with a refreshing retro cassette twist.
Buen Juego. La mecánica son friendly con el jugador y no se siente pesado para nada. 10/10
The music is honestly so so so peak, its unreal, underrated game 10/10 will 100% it
Great characters, smattering of voiced lines, Awesome music, interesting Creature designs, Allows gay relationships, Has Creatures that violate the natural order, filled with 90s nostalgia.
This is easily my favorite creature collector / monster tamer game of all time. Coming from someone who has tried to like Pokemon for years but never saw the appeal (what with each game looking and feeling the exact same), Cassette Beasts has definitely set the standard for me in terms of what I want a creature collector to be. Minor spoilers ahead.. I feel like what speaks to me a lot about Cassette Beasts is that it feels like you get more choice in what you do because, lets face it, you do. In the Pokemon games, you HAVE to fight the Gym Leaders to progress (which is fine, I enjoyed the Gyms most of the time), you HAVE to stop Team Pencil or Team Marker or whoever the gang of the game is, you HAVE to battle the Elite Four and the Champion at the end of your journey in order to get the freedom that comes with the post-game. With Cassette Beasts, however, you're given that freedom pretty much from the get-go. You CAN defeat the 12 Ranger Captains across New Wirral, but it isn't forced onto you in order to progress. You CAN help Eugene defeat the Landkeepers, but you don't HAVE to do it to progress the game or enjoy it. There isn't a lot of content that is locked behind progressing story events. If you want to just focus on collecting all the monsters in New Wirral, you can just do that. If you want to hunt for bootlegs (the Cassette Beasts equivalent to shiny Pokemon), you can do that too! (that said, it is definitely easier to hunt for bootlegs after completing the story because of the amount of postgame content Bytten put into the game) The story is fairly good, but isn't necessarily the focus.
The lead objective is to leave New Wirral, and in order to find the location to go to leave, you must defeat the Archangels hidden in train stations around New Wirral. I don't know what else to say since that pretty much is the main story.
There are hidden lore things that require a little bit of digging and connecting of dots, but I always enjoyed that sort of thing. The designs for each monster found in Cassette Beasts are extremely well done and easily the selling point of the game for me. Each one is unique and feels original. A small detail that I really enjoy is the inspiration they took for each monster, which they detail in the bestiary under Bio 2. It's just some tidbits of information, but it's a small detail they didn't need to include but added so much life to the game. It made me want to learn more about the world. I didn't just collect the creatures for the sake of collecting them, but to learn the inspiration behind them, which also speaks a bit to the game's themes of human creativity. Another thing about the monsters that's really nice is the insane level of customization for their movesets. If you don't like a move that a monster has and want to give it a different move from a different monster, there is a really high probability that you can do that. At the very least, you can get rid of the move you don't like and replace it with something new. There are literally merchants that have a stock of moves (called "stickers" in this title) you can buy and apply to your cassettes. If you don't like what the merchants have, their stocks refresh every 24 hours, which I really respect compared to other RPGs where a merchant's stock doesn't necessarily scale to your needs and if you are too strong, you don't need their wares. I supposed it just gives the world a bit more life, if that makes sense. All that to say, this has been an absolute blast to play and I regret not buying it sooner. It is absolutely worth it at full price, but if it's on sale, don't be afraid to snag it. It's good enough that I will definitely be buying the sequel Day One. There is passion in this game that I adore and want more of. (Also please buy Pier of the Unknown DLC with it, the monsters there are too lovable to pass up on)
Bonne surprise. Bon jeu de collection de monstres avec des mécaniques qui changent de pokemon. Franchement sympathique
Esta bastante bueno el juego, sin embargo siento que algunas cosas son "forzadas", aun asi es batante bueno el juego
