Casino Blackjack

There are not too many blackjack games out there on steam, but this one, despite it's age, is alright. It also comes with detailed tutorials and strategies when playing as well. You can adjust house rules to your liking that matches different casino styles. Two grievances: 1. it doesn't track playing hours and the in-game function doesn't work properly. 2. no full-screen option when playing, only a 800x600 window which can be quite small on high resolution monitors and this is the biggest issue for me. However, with a lack of blackjack games out there on steam, it's arguably the best one available as of this writing.

This is a solid Blackjack/21 game with lots of additional resources in case you wanted to take your play to a real casino. There are instructions and tutorials in basic strategy as well as in card counting. It's also good if all you want to do is just play some no pressure Blackjack. The game runs fine on modern systems. The only downside I can find is that Steam does not accurately track playtime for the game. The play time tracker seems to be related to the "tips" aspect of the software that opens in a browser window rather than the actual executable. This is not a deal breaker since there are no trading cards or features reliant on play time. EDIT: The playtime issue can be addressed by right-clicking the game in library and launching the "tips" portion to open the browser window. Then go into local files and manually run the .exe to launch the game. This will record play time if it's important to you.

It feels more real than most BJ simulators because it doesn't add up the hands for the players. No digital displays allowed in real life. The fact that it doesn't display in full screen is a real bummer.

Casino Blackjack is an ancient game from 2004. It's a whopping 20 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware. This is a very bare bones Blackjack game that looks like it's barely post-DOS era (but might as well be a DOS game). There's absolutely no value in this, it's clunky, dated... basically the "developer" here found some old abandoned crapware and wants your money for it. This kind of borderline ethical stuff does nothing to benefit gamers or the gaming industry. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio, due to the age of the game, it predates the 16:9 widescreen gaming standard established back in 2006. It's possible they're marketing this towards people using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game is being specifically marketed towards people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. It's obviously not going to look right on a modern 16:9 gaming display. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static images... it might as well be a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Casino Blackjack is relatively expensive for an abandonware nostalgia gouge, at $3 USD, and it's not worth it. The game is just too old, hasn't been modernised. And as the old saying goes, you can't go home again. Even when it was new, this was never a triple-A game. This is the kind of game that went almost directly from the warehouse into the cheap bargain bins at the front of the shop. Now, on Steam, without any modernisation? This is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.

This game overall is an excellent, simple way to casually play Blackjack against computer players. But it does have some issues that might bother some people. The UI is very dated, and can be harder for younger people to figure out. And it has no option for using keystrokes, everything is point and click. But despite that it is elderly for a game and its slightly cumbersome UI, the gameplay itself is quite fun. It is a good way to both learn how to play, and have a way to play for fun once you've learned.

This game teached me how to count Cards. After getting knowledge how this game works, went to the casino trying my luck. A hour later making like 500k €, people kicked me out from the casino. 10/10 would love to bé kicked while this game teached me how to count Cards. Also devs,. Please add Steam trading Cards

Worked for a few hours, now crashes on start-up. Occurs on two different machines. Several uninstalls and reinstalls but nothing working. Shame because it's a great platform to learn Basic Strategy and Card Counting
