My Video Review can be found here: https://youtu.be/2drvhmGHjAI Cally’s Caves 4 has many pros – wide variety of weapons, original enemies, RPG elements, frequent leveling up, stylish graphics and music, responsive controls, balanced difficulty. It is indeed not perfect so there are also some cons like absence of the real story, generic level design and no co-op multiplayer that would bring even more fun to the game. Pros: - variety of weapons - original enemies - RPG elements - leveling up everything - graphics and music - controls - balanced difficulty Cons: - primitive story - level design - no co-op multiplayer I would recommend to wait for at least 50 per cent discount. In such case, you should not hesitate and buy as thanks to short levels and reasonable difficulty it is suitable for Gaming Fathers and their families. I really enjoyed my time with this action platformer, so I am giving it Thumbs Up and VideoGaming Father’s Index 8 out of 10 – recommended.

https://youtu.be/SaUV17Jyxrs Offering a surprising amount of content is great but in many cases it would have been stronger overall to apply more polish to a small feature set.
FULL ACHIEVEMENT REACHED!!! I had played this since childhood, and addicted to this game deeply;even its not that interesting but i still love this game of course this is my first full achievement game and my first time to leave a comment too i really recommend this to some one who looking for cute story act game,u will definitely love it))))
Picked up this and Callys Caves 3 in a bundle. I played far more with Callys Caves 3 but it was too simple and uninteresting. Not seeing any significant difference with the fourth game either. Playable but a bit too simplistic for my taste.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
Cally’s Caves 4, developed and published by VDO Games, is a vibrant and energetic action-platformer that channels the spirit of classic run-and-gun titles while adding modern refinements and a surprising degree of depth. It continues the adventures of Cally, the brave young heroine of the series, who embarks on a new mission to save her friend Rupert from a mysterious curse. What begins as a straightforward rescue quest quickly expands into a lengthy, content-rich experience filled with explosive combat, smooth controls, and dozens of imaginative weapons to experiment with. The result is a game that feels both nostalgic and fresh, delivering the kind of tight, skill-driven gameplay that fans of retro action games will immediately recognize and appreciate. From the moment the first level begins, it’s clear that Cally’s Caves 4 aims to give players freedom and variety in how they approach its challenges. The game offers over 300 levels spread across nine visually distinct biomes, each filled with enemies, traps, secrets, and boss encounters. The level design encourages exploration and experimentation, rewarding curiosity with hidden rooms and weapon upgrades. Cally’s movement is responsive and fluid—she can shoot in multiple directions, double-jump, roll through enemy attacks, and use a grappling hook to access hard-to-reach areas. The controls are tight and intuitive, allowing for both precision platforming and fast-paced combat. It’s a design philosophy reminiscent of classic titles like Metal Slug or Cave Story but layered with an RPG-like sense of progression that keeps players invested for hours. One of the defining features of Cally’s Caves 4 is its extensive weapon system. Players can collect 11 weapon types, each of which evolves through use into new and increasingly powerful forms. Every gun has its own unique properties, from flamethrowers and energy blasters to ricocheting projectiles and wide-spread shotguns. As you continue to use a weapon, it gains experience and eventually transforms—sometimes changing its behavior entirely. This upgrade system not only makes combat more dynamic but also adds an addictive layer of progression, encouraging experimentation to find your preferred arsenal. The weapon variety also pairs nicely with the game’s challenging bosses, which often require strategic weapon switching and careful timing to overcome. Visually, Cally’s Caves 4 bursts with color and personality. The pixel art style is crisp, detailed, and full of charm, capturing the sense of adventure and whimsy that defines the series. Each biome feels distinct, from lush forests to mechanical fortresses and icy caverns. Enemy designs are playful yet dangerous, fitting perfectly within the world’s cartoonish aesthetic. The animation quality is smooth, with clear feedback for every shot fired or enemy defeated. The soundtrack complements the action with upbeat chiptune-inspired music that keeps the energy high without becoming repetitive. It’s a cohesive audiovisual package that feels lovingly crafted and perfectly suited to its genre. The game’s structure also offers impressive longevity. Beyond the main campaign, there are multiple modes designed to extend replay value. The inclusion of a New Game+ mode allows players to carry over progress and face tougher enemies, while Survival mode provides a pure combat challenge for those seeking to test their skills against waves of foes. Each of these modes adds variety and ensures that the experience doesn’t end once the main story concludes. The pacing, however, can occasionally feel uneven; with so many levels, some biomes linger longer than necessary, and repetition can set in if you’re not invested in mastering each weapon. Still, the sheer amount of content makes it easy to overlook these moments, especially given the game’s low price point and indie origins. In terms of performance, Cally’s Caves 4 generally runs smoothly, though occasional frame rate dips can occur during intense moments when the screen is crowded with explosions and projectiles. These minor issues never seriously detract from the experience, but they do remind players that this is a small-scale indie production rather than a major studio release. Likewise, while the story provides context for Cally’s journey, it largely takes a backseat to the gameplay. The narrative is lighthearted and functional, offering brief bits of dialogue and humor without demanding much attention. It’s clear that the focus here is on action, progression, and player satisfaction rather than storytelling depth. What truly defines Cally’s Caves 4 is its commitment to player agency and continuous reward. Every few minutes of play yield some form of tangible progress—new weapons, stronger abilities, or access to new areas. The game never loses sight of its primary goal: to keep players shooting, jumping, and upgrading in a constant loop of action and discovery. It’s this rhythm, supported by clever design and energetic presentation, that makes the game so enjoyable. While it doesn’t reinvent the platforming formula, it refines it with polish and creativity, resulting in an experience that’s both familiar and refreshingly generous. Ultimately, Cally’s Caves 4 stands as one of the best examples of what indie developers can achieve with passion and clear focus. It’s a game that celebrates the joy of movement and the satisfaction of combat, built on a foundation of thoughtful level design and rewarding progression. Its blend of charm, challenge, and content density ensures that it offers excellent value for its modest price. For fans of retro run-and-gun platformers or anyone looking for a fast-paced, skill-based action game with a surprising amount of depth, Cally’s Caves 4 delivers a thoroughly entertaining and memorable adventure. Rating: 8/10
Ramble review. Nice game to grind mindlessly. It's great to unwind after work or studying. If you put an audiobook or some albums you wanna listen to as music background it is a very relaxing experience. I'd advise to buy it at a discount though. Story, characters, etc, are not important here, play other games for that. Exploration is mediocre at best, I was dissapointed with how little use the spike-arrow has. I think it only was needed for one collectible, the rest of hidden areas have cash which by the point you get the spike-arrow you will probably not be needing anymore, not even to buy scrap for upgrading the scrapgun. I thought the doors opening after each sectoin of Survival implied saving progress but no. So Survival will take a couple hours to get done which will get tedious as this game is not the most exciting thing and I prefer shorter bursts of playtime but it's a great opportunity to do as I said before and listen an audiobook or some casting if you're into that or catch up with some artist you wanna listen. It's also a nice game to play while not being sober.
