Call of Cthulhu®

I got a brand new gaming laptop and always loved playing this game, yet on the new laptop, after downloading it, sounds play but no music plays, and this game will not stay open 5 minutes without crashing. I loved this game and wanted to play it. It's a shame but sounds like I'm not the only one it's crashing for. Can't recommend a game that crashes and doesn't play. Some other Lovecraft fan who cares about having a working product should come up with this game if these developers don't care to address this. I wish I knew there was supposedly a free version of this game available elsewhere, but I bought it back before this extreme discount I see it's currently priced at. Not sure if the crashing is a steam thing or some faulty update. At least I still have this game functioning on my console. I do not recommend buying this game in its current dilapidated state.

Проектам по Лавкрафту с бюджетами часто не везёт, и Call of Cthulhu 2018 года исключением не стала. В принципе, игра этого и не скрывает, поэтому сильно обольщаться системой прокачки, выборами и прочими механиками не стоит - все довольно скромно. Большую часть времени мы спокойно что-то изучаем и решаем простые задачки по всем заветам квест-адвенчур. Иногда это разбавляется стелсом (или даже экшеном), но слава богу, понимая свои возможности, разработчики не растянули эти сегменты настолько, чтобы это начинало напрягать. Вот атмосфера и сам сюжет вышли вполне удачными и в духе. Пусть для знакомых с творчеством писателя откровений тут будет, интерес к истории сохраняется до самого финала. А неплохой, но очевидно небогатый визуал благодаря работе с окружением и деталям местами смотрится куда дороже, чем есть на самом деле. Жаль только, что несмотря на кажущуюся по началу вариантивность, смысла в реиграбельности довольно мало. Проверки навыков слишком редки и точечны, чтобы сильно на что-то повлиять, а упустить важные моменты сложно. Да и на те вопросы, что могут появиться к сценарию, повторный забег вряд ли ответит. Но как минимум одного прохождения история однозначно достойна, особенно если вы любите Говарда Филлипса. Короче - ктулху фхтагн!

The game is based on Lovecraft's stories, and I found it worthy of the author's fame. The story is very engaging with 3 multiple endings based on your choices throughout the game, it has very few jump scares and you will not play only as Pierce, but also as other characters The only flaw: although I would have preferred a better look at Cthulhu, he appears for a fraction of a second, not enough to admire the developers' work. But I highly recommend it.

Decent Lovecraftian story. Does go into proper lovecraft themes and isn't just tentacles spooky which I like. Performance is okay but you can notice brief little boxes of white for like a milisecond as environments load in when rounding some corners, doorways, etc. Overall the environments do look nice though and some of the cutscenes have impressive facial animations. Gameplay surprisingly changes a lot, but overall isn't anything special you don't have to do any serious detective work or puzzle solving, solutions are handed to you. Light RPG mechanics but not enough to offer true replayability to me. Decent characters. A little short for price, about 8 hours.

Gotta say i was not expecting to love this game this much. I enjoyed the story a lot and was happily surprised to hear Anthony Howell being the main characters voice (i loved his voice acting sooo much in Vampyr it became one of my favorites) The point system is nice, but it can be tricky to get more points if you don't have a enough points to correctly answer for extra cp's and it can make it harder to fill correctly to get/find everything if you are a completionist like me. But after 1 playthrough you will know which are sorta important to fill in first for the next one. The only real downside i felt was the auto save and having no more then 1 save unless you make them yourself. The constant auto saving feels kinda punishing when you fail something like a answer or a lockpick and it instantly saves, so you can't retry unless you start over from scratch. But even so, i will still replay it again more then once, cause it's a great game if you like detective games with clues and a good story

Ну прямо кино-кино от Французов. Потрясающая графика, саундтрек, звуки, озвучка. Интересный детектив. Будто смотрю какой-то фильм, в котором я главный герой. Но жанр совсем не интерактив, QTE. Resident Evil в стиле Лавкрафта.
