It's a couple notches better than the first one, but still needs 1000 more notches to be decent. Note that the devs scammed everyone who bought the original as that was sold as early access and promised to include this chapter and later as a free update.

This is easily one of the most unfair and bs games i've ever played. Most of the monsters (except the Fatso the Fatty) have ridicullous unfair mechanics and appear in the most random and bs locations. Maps itself are as bland and uninteresting as it is humanely possible - textures and paths are just like my guts - narrow, dark, all shades of brown and straight. First wheelee amputee is capable of seeing you across all the map, and zooms to you at flash speed, giving you no chance to survive. Last boss' flashback mechanic can spawn her 10 cm in front of you, resulting in instakill, despite game's popups saying that she cannot spawn near you. Overall i'm very frustrated with this game.
I can't believe I am having to give this game a bad review, because it's beautifully horrifying and twisted. Great atmosphere and a cold, bleak soundtrack. What got me to stop playing, was the basement maze levels. They were incredibly tedious and frustrating. You are without a map for the first portion of it, so good luck finding the switches to open the next area. Then you have to worry about one of the monsters who appears when you flashback (which is required to see some of the hidden switches). You have to race through these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cereal box mazes to get to the door before it shuts, WHILE having to worry about the monster who could literally just appear right in front of you and kill you without moment's notice. You have to put your map down and use your flashback ability to speed up your pace and slow down time. This hinders your ability to see where the ♥♥♥♥ you are navigating, and risks the monster getting you. I just found this all to be incredibly unnecessary and a shame to have ruined such a great game.
Sadly I make these type reviews for games which I liked & felt had potential. But the final challenges with timed switches, make it all *NOT* worth it in the end. Perhaps, if you're reeally lucky you'll finish the game without getting pissed off or confused. I doubt this will happen. The ending "reward" only really works if tension wasn't ruined by how infuriating game play was. Especially after failing several times, I lost count. Most of the "tension" was baked into the growing, irritating demands of the final gimmick, such as not being able to look at a map while running + some almost guaranteed beginners traps, forcing trial & error which dispels any real sensation of horror. The final mazes start screwing with you, making it harder if you already fail 1 attempt at beating a timer, this serves to also accelerate the frequency of condescending death screen messages delivered to you, adding to the torture. Expectations from the first half of game, in part have lead to this later disappointment. I dunno, this review is a warning, just trust me bro.
I recommend this game, but I see a lot of reviews complaining about different parts of this game and I'd like to address those complaints. 1 - Too many puzzles - You're playing a PUZZLE horror game, what were you expecting? That's like playing Thief and then complaining because you have to steal from people. Illogical! 2 - Platforming - Doorways: The Underworld's platforming is some of the most simple platforming you'll ever see in a video game. If people are struggling with this game, they better not ever play Super Mario. 3. - Labyrinth - People are upset about the last level of the game being a labyrinth, even despite the fact the game provides you a map which fills out as you explore. The solution to the labyrinth is as easy as finding a switch and finding a door, then mapping the best route from point A to point B. Its literally the most basic form of gaming besides platforming. People will complain just to complain. I will say though that I can see why people would be mad that the Developer separated this part of the game from the prelude. Its quite clear that it was supposed to be part of that but then was cut off. That is wrong. But I can't really complain, as I got the entire trilogy from Fanatical for $1.00. The only other thing worth mentioning is the bugs. If you have a multi monitor setup and Alt + Tab out of the game, the mouse cursor starts to escape from outside the game window. Its a real pain to fix the issue without having to restart the game. The other bug I ran into was during the labyrinth phase when the flashback power would activate indefinitely. Otherwise, Great game!
yeah its from 2014 but its still crap
