Calamity Angels: Special Delivery — Board Games and Box Packing
TL;DR: A charming and chaotic delivery-themed RPG that blends board game exploration, grid-based packing puzzles, and unpredictable turn-based combat.
[1] Intro :
Have you ever wanted to run a chaotic delivery service in a fantasy world? Developed by Compile Heart, this game mixes traditional RPG mechanics with board game movement. It is a colorful, lighthearted adventure featuring lively character designs by Kei Nanameda (known for Mary Skelter). Rather than a dark, epic quest to save the world, your main goal is simply to be the best courier in the Orkotris Region.
[2] Game Experience :
World & Systems: The exploration is heavily inspired by board games. You move across the map using a roulette spin, landing on spaces that offer items, shops, or boss encounters. Before you even leave for a delivery, you have to pack the parcels into a grid without leaving any gaps, which adds a surprisingly fun puzzle element to your prep work. Combat & Moods: The turn-based combat introduces a very quirky "Mood" system. Your crew consists of eccentric characters whose feelings affect their performance. If they are unhappy, they might completely ignore your commands. Interestingly, this disobedience isn't always bad—it can occasionally trigger positive surprises or unexpected attacks that turn the tide of battle. Characters & Vibe: The story is highly energetic and humorous. You will deal with unruly monsters, rival delivery teams, and the daily struggles of customer service. The dialogue is snappy, making the day-to-day operations of your rag-tag crew very entertaining. Pros:

A creative mix of board game map traversal and grid-based packing puzzles.
The "Mood" system adds a funny, chaotic twist to standard turn-based RPG battles.
Great, vibrant character designs and highly entertaining, lighthearted dialogue.
Cons:

Moving across the map relies on roulette spins, so RNG (luck) can sometimes be frustrating.
Players who prefer strict, precise tactical control might find the unpredictable "Mood" system a bit annoying.

[3] Final Thoughts :
Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a fun, casual RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously. It balances cozy puzzle-solving with chaotic combat. If you enjoy anime-style humor, board game mechanics, and don't mind a bit of unpredictability in your battles, this delivery service is well worth hiring.
Nobody Follows Orders Here! A Slapstick Board Game Delivery Comedy RPG
A delivery-guild RPG where Yuri's ragtag carrier crew fights monsters and grows across roulette-driven board game stages. The Orkotris Region demands all packages be delivered — and the colorful banter between crew members is the engine that drives the story forward. Each delivery starts at the bulletin board: inspect the cargo, pack it tight, assemble the right crew with the right gear, then head out onto the board. Spin the roulette, advance the number of tiles rolled, and land on spaces that trigger shop stops, battles, events, or boss encounters. The randomness that keeps runs from going to plan is the same randomness that fuels the comedy. The Tension (Morale) system is the game's core. Each member has a mood value; let it drop and they'll ignore commands mid-battle — one might doze off, another might burn through healing items on their own initiative. This unmanageable "herding cats" dynamic is where the game's comedy lands hardest. Personally, the concept of turning chaos into laughs feels like the title's defining identity. SP recovery methods vary per character, lending party management some strategic depth. That said, even with morale carefully managed, command refusals can spike — tipping the experience from strategy toward luck — and extended sessions may bring fatigue. On the visual side, this marks a return to 2D anime aesthetics from the team's prior 3D output, with lively character designs filling the screen with energy. Kei Nanameda's cast comes to life through Live2D animations, and the shift between chibi battle sprites and large VN-style portraits keeps the presentation varied. Selecting dialogue options triggers a constant stream of voiced reactions — the "talk-nonstop Compile Heart" energy is in full effect. Dual full voice (Japanese and English) is a welcome commitment for a title at this price point. A few points worth noting: the roulette-and-tile loop feels fresh early on but grows repetitive as the mid-game sets in. Some skills have been flagged for inconsistent balance, and the battle feel has room to improve. Voice line repetition during exploration and combat also becomes noticeable over extended play. The PC version is priced significantly lower than the console release, which gives the overall package reasonable value for its scale. A worthwhile pick for fans of Compile Heart's comedy style, players drawn to Kei Nanameda's character designs, and those looking for a light JRPG to enjoy at their own pace. Players who prioritize laughs and character chemistry over deep systems will find the "noise" here worth embracing. HHF-chan's comment: "Board game delivery comedy — somehow managing a crew of order-ignoring disasters and still pulling off the delivery is just too funny!"
Check out our Steam curator (link) , YouTube channel (link), and X(Twitter) (link)!

[/strike]
this is definitely a very underrated game, the art style is cute and the fighting aspects are fun, the story is lacking a bit but the characters make up for it because they’re very diverse my only complaint is that the voice lines get VERY repetitive, throughout the fight and even just moving around on the map the characters will repeat the same two voice lines over and over and it gets annoying
It's a nice little RPG with really quirky and likable characters. I especially like Somnia (my baby...) and Ivris. Neither the battles or the overworld deliveries are difficult (besides the final boss), but sometimes battles are annoying because your team members want to do something else when doing the right thing can end the battle there and then, even if their face and the tension up status tell you otherwise. (Somnia going right back to sleep again after the power nap that raised her tension really isn't fun.) Other times they pull out various special skills that can wipe the enemies and minibosses in one hit and that balances the annoying parts somehow (I just don't like Somnia's single sheep attack. Even Numero instantly killing all the party members is better because it makes you laugh when it happens, sheep meanwhile just deals fixed 100 damage and wastes her turn) The RPG part is 3/5 (randomness over mostly generic RPG battle system didn't help), but overall the game is funny and unique (in a mostly positive way), so I liked it.
The overall game is pretty fun and interesting, but the rng aspects can be really annoying when your one action away from ending the battle and suddenly no one on your team wants to listen to their most basic command. The achievement grind was reasonable at the start but then they made several monsters appearing rng dependent on top of it already being rng dependent that the skill needed to summon the monster be picked. This makes the grind unfufilling and boring, overall the game is fun enough for a playthrough but it is dreadful to 100%,
Calamity Angels: Special Delivery

Follow Good Game Collections to check other reviews. Let's collect good games together~!

Conclusion (If you don’t feel like to read the full text)
Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is a lighthearted Monopoly-like turn-based JRPG game. The player takes the role of the leader of Calamity Angels. The player will need to lead a group of people with unique characteristics in pursuit of becoming a SSS rank delivery team! The game maintains a lighthearted and enjoyable atmosphere throughout. The story is very engaging thanks to the vivid character personalities. In battle, each ally will decide whether to follow commands or not based on current mood and preferences, which creates a strong sense of unpredictability. Although this is one of the game’s key features, it can become frustrating in the mid to late stages. For players who are looking for a lighthearted and fun Monopoly-like JRPG game, this gem provides a lot of enjoyment in both gameplay and story, and could be worth checking out!
Gameplay
Calamity Angels: Special Delivery tells the story of the protagonist Yuri (Yuri can be either male or female, but in this review “he” is used in general) who finally becomes the leader of a delivery team he has long dreamed of. However, he soon discovers that the team he is in charge of, Cutie Angels, is made up of members with unique characteristics and is known as the Calamity Angels, a troublesome group with a relatively bad reputation. Can Yuri lead the team to become an SSS rank delivery team? The gameplay is focused on accepting delivery requests and delivering items to their recipients on a board-like map. The player must deliver items within a limited amount of time (Omoi Power). Similar to a board game like Monopoly, movement is determined by using a Compass to roll steps across various Squares. Each Square on the board has different effects. In addition to standard Event Squares, which trigger outcomes that are worse-than-average or better-than-average, and Battle Squares, where the player will encounter monsters, there are many other types of Squares the player can interact with. Their usage can be checked through the Full Map menu. Some Squares, such as Boss Battle Squares and ADV Event Squares, trigger automatically when passed and will force the player to stop moving forward. Thus, careful management of Omoi Power is important. In addition, Omoikurai will often spawn on maps and actively chase the player. These Omoikurai are significantly stronger than the monsters found in Battle Squares, so proper preparation is essential before engaging them!
Note: Depending on the type of delivery item and the map, the amount of Omoi Power consumed each turn will vary. In addition, some maps also change the possible results of the Compass roulette. The player will need to take these factors into account during play!
Battles is the game’s other core system. The player will need to form a 4-member party to deliver items. In addition to the protagonist Yuri, the player will need to select 3 members from 6 candidates to join each request. Combat is turn-based (action order determined by speed). Battles have an exceptionally charming visual style, with both sides represented by chibi-style Live2D characters. The allies are highly individual. When giving commands, the player can read their facial expressions to determine whether they like the action or not. If they dislike it, there is a high chance they will refuse the command and instead use their Preferred Skill. For example, the swordswoman Somnia prefers sleeping over attacking, the mage Ivris prefers martial arts over magic, and the healer Svliya prefers money over healing. As a result, the player must constantly account for these unpredictable factors. In addition, all allies have several Special Skills. Once activated, these skills can significantly affect the flow of battle. However, the activation conditions for Special Skills vary depending on the ally and the skill itself. They may involve sleeping, using normal attacks repeatedly, or even doing nothing in some cases!
Note: Yuri does not participate in attacking. He can only use items or use a relic weapon to finish off Omoikurai.

Pros

Lighthearted, humorous, and entertaining story
Highly distinctive characters
Very high-quality art style
Cute chibi-style Live2D characters (in battles)
Unpredictable actions during battles
Allow to speed up the flow of battles
Many humorous and quirky Special Skills with unusual activation conditions
Great CGs
Catchy OP and great BGMs
Full voice acting (support both English and Japanese)
Excellent English and Chinese translations

Areas for improvement

During battles, each ally’s unique personality means they do not always follow the player’s commands. This feels fresh at first, but over time it can become frustrating when they refuse commands during critical moments (and that is why Svliya is recommended, since as long as the player has money, she will always follow commands.)
The ending feels somewhat abrupt while it actually perfectly fits the game’s style, some character feel unfinished, which makes it feel like something is missing. Hopefully, future updates will expand and complete these parts
