Only played the intro sequence but there's already a lot to note. The graphics on my computer, even on cinematic didn't render correctly, textures would be smudged and lighting didn't feel right. AI don't understand the player leaning, theoretically you can lean around every corner and the AI wouldn't recognise that movement. The HQ is very detailed, but even on high settings the armoury would drop around half my framerate when i entered it. The gunsmith menu is very meh, you may want to attach accessories on your main rifle, but you can't see them since I couldn't figure out if I could rotate my weapon to see if the accessory was attached and the menus don't display that fact. A few of the HUD elements seem like a straight rip from Ready or Not, which is a shame since this game doesn't feel like RoN in the first mission, nor do I think it should. This game has high potential for thrilling gameplay, but with many unoptimized and what feels like unfinished parts of the game, it doesn't feel like a 1.1 game and I won't be playing much more until I discover many of these issues are fixed in the future.
I really tried to give it a chance, but all the arsenal and all the graphics don't matter, if the base isn't there.
Where do I start? Great gunplay, great animations, hand-crafted level design, and a very active and communicative developer who really cares about his community! New content updates are released quite regularly with video showcases in his Discord as he progresses with new features/new content, etc! BFRI reminds me of a mix of Ready or Not/Ground Branch/old Rainbow Six Raven shield/Insurgency. This genre is lacking from an indie dev standpoint, so this is truly a breath of fresh air to play! I will say that BFRI rivals Ground Branch in terms of immersion and sense of fulfilment when clearing a level. And that is saying a lot considering that BFRI is being developed by a very small team! I'm very excited to see what the devs cook up in terms of new maps and gameplay! You can tell the love and passion that was poured into this game as soon as you step in the lobby. 12/10 would play again!!
Felky Fun Meter

|-------|---| [7/10] Pretty fun!
As someone who's not patient at all and likes to rush-in everywhere
(so not the target audience of this game xD)
I still managed to have a good time! The shooting was pretty good and there's already a lot of weapons with decent customisation :D Enough missions to try every loadout that I was curious about too. Only thing that was frustrating would be that the hostage missions are very tedious I got lost in one of them trying to figure out which door I didn't open that happened to have the last person I had to rescue and that wasn't very fun :s Good luck for the full release ^^
This game needs a lot of work. The tl;dr of it is that you move super slowly like in Ground Branch or Zero Hour, but the AI are like CoD or Insurgency bots; very fast and shoot you the picosecond you become visible, and often you spawn into a mission already being shot at. The gunplay isn't very good; aiming and reloading is incredibly sluggish, the guns aren't very effective (the AI can tank multiple shotgun slugs to the torso and limbs without flinching, and sometimes survive multiple headshots), and the suppression effect when you're being shot at is way overblown. Gameplay-wise it is less complex than other similar tactical shooters, much less so than even the original Rainbow Six from 1998; less features/mechanics (for example, you can't even gently open doors to peek into a room without moving through them), less customization besides cosmetic stuff, simple objectives (kill bad guys, find thing and press F)
It's a really nice tactical shooter. I really appreciate the new update (Lion's Den), it adds so much to the game. I usually play without steam initialized so I don't have much play time, but I've probably sank around 10 hours into this game to be honest. I think its a really good alternative to Ready or Not for $10 when you don't have $40. Overall, Recommend.
A ton of fun, can't wait for the upcoming updates
Is to janky and AI is just target practice offffff :(
I LOVE THIS GAME, I PLAYED IT IN MY SLEEP AND I BEAT EVERY LEVEL. IT IS A SUPER FUN GAME AND OSAMA BINLADIN IS IN IT TOO. WOULD RECOMMEND!!!
Has good bones for being a tactical shooter that provides a full on story to follow and good customization for weapons along with animations to immerse yourself as you tackle on missions for example high/low ready position, walking speed incremental changer, magazine checks, and canted aim for lasers etc. are just some small things that have been recently added with updates. Overall the AI is very barebones but with the addition of new features being added like AI settings goes to show the Devs are passionate and willing to put in more updates based off the progress on this game so far. If you are on the fence I would recommend waiting and seeing to see if the AI gets any better and more polish comes to the game but if you wanna help support this team and see what the game has to offer then definitely check it out <3
