Broken Reality was a phenomenal game for enjoyers of vaporwave and internet culture as a whole, and the sequel definitely didn't disappoint. It touches on concepts like the corporatization and consolidation of the internet, progress at the expense of soul, and the pitfalls of unchecked nostalgia. The music, sound design, and art style of the game leads to some genuinely beautiful settings, and the puzzles at some points are just complex enough to make you stop and think for a minute. It's a really good time, especially for the price.
BROKEN REALITY 2000 was a trip to say the least but it truly is amazing. There are many differences between BR and BR2000, it didn't have the same charm as the first game. I understand not every game will be the same but it created a different feeling all together. The puzzles were my least favorite part because sometimes it was not clear where I needed to go or what I needed to do in order to progress. Also, when you fall it's like gravity is pulling you down super fast, it isn't as fun as the physics in BR. What I did enjoy about BR2000 is the fruiter aero Nexus area, it is my favorite place to "hangout" while I do stuff IRL for a moment. The music from the first game being worked into different areas amazed my wife and I. We waited a long time to play BR2000 and while there are some aspects of the game we really don't enjoy, we would recommend it to anyone. The exploration opportunities are still there as they were in the first game. You can't launch yourself by a soda can in this game but the hyperlink does the trick for you. Seeing the characters from the first game made it so fun, it brought that feeling of being in a familiar setting with someone or something you "know", if that makes sense.. We love the skins, hoverboard, and bow! Overall, we enjoyed playing it together. I could go on and on about the first game and this one because they bring so many memories to us, happy memories. My wife has played BROKEN REALITY over and over again and cried when BROKEN REALITY 2000 was released. Thank you DMT for another beautiful game! <3

Don't really get the complaints. It's basically more of the first game, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm not here for the "story"...I'm here for the vibes, the atmosphere, and the chill walking-simulator experience. So far, my only complaint is that the soundtrack hasn't hit as hard as the first game's. Other than that, I've been enjoying it.
video game
A really nice game but def not better than the first game. If you liked the first one and you want more then yes buy this game!
It's a fun collectathon and another trip through digital worlds. I don't think it holds up compared to the first game, but this is still absolutely worth playing and there is a lot of cool new ideas and mechanics.
Truly a worthy sequel to the first game in this series. The aesthetics are fantastic and the soundtrack is great as well.
I feel like people are being too harsh on this game. Yes, it's not as good as the original and it had a lot of bugs at launch, plus some performance issues that still linger, but it's definitely a well-designed game with fun worlds, good vibes and great music. Heck, I actually think the music is way better in the sequel compared to the first game. That said, the original is definitely way better designed. I also prefer the minimalist style of the first game, as it feels way more liminal and strange in that way. The sequel doesn't feel liminal enough and feels way more like a typical game with puzzles, more gameplay mechanics and so on. Then again, having more gameplay is also fun in its own way, but I definitely like the simplicity of the original better. It also feels like the first game had better pacing and direction overall. Still, I had a lot of fun with this, I loved the aesthetic once again, and the music was just fantastic! Well done, developers!
I absolutely loved the first game, but this one seems like it didn't really go in any new direction and actually feels far smaller in scope than the old game. Something that was really fun in the previous Broken Reality was all the quirky weird characters and the main story arc, but this has none of that. There are no memorable characters that continue to appear throughout your journey, there are no long and interactive conversations and the overall plot really doesn't come up very often, so it just feels like you're roaming around endlessly to solve puzzles with no feeling of them being actually needed storywise. Overall the game is okay, but it pales in comparison to the original and I'd argue this has very little replayability compared to the first game. The only real positives I found were a few quality of life improvements over the previous entry but that's not really enough to make the game actually fun.
sequilitis in action. the magic of the original is gone; not to say there is nothing here. the original game was a perfect storm whose lightning was captured in a time capsule at the right moment. it cannot be replicated. if you go in expecting the same wonder again you're naught but a fool. treat this game on its own merits. it is still a fun place to wander around, full of interesting characters and jokes. it is a reflection of the progression of our modern internet culture. the landscape of the internet has changed. it's unfamiliar. Broken Reality 2000 exists, as far as i can tell, to satirize the "progression" of the internet. to satirize itself - the original and the sequel - as well. after all, Broken Reality is a part of internet culture now, satirizing itself, in this ironical oroborous tl;dr if you liked the first game, approach this one with an open mind. i'm sure that a few years down the line it'll age about the same. like a peculiar, odorous cheese that only a handful of weirdos like myself can stand. a relic of a bygone era.
