About

Do you miss running your finger along the spines of all your game boxes, deciding what you might be in the mood to play? Do you long for instruction manuals, inlays, and that intoxicating plasticky smell when you crack open a new box and bury your nose inside. Ahhh.
BOXROOM is a shrine to all of that; a little space to call your own, and a way to explore and interact with your game library in a more meaningful way.
It's a throwback to the bedrooms and game-spaces of yesteryear - a place for shelves, cabinets and curated displays, for posters, figurines and collectors items.
It's also a game, if you want to call it that; a design/decorator-sim giving you the space to put a stamp on your Steam library and game collection. After setting up your room and preferred shelving arrangement, the game will boot your ACTUAL Steam library onto the shelves - giving you space to arrange, curate and explore your collection as you see fit.
Put your feet up! Sit back and soak in the space.
You can then share your room with a friend (or your mortal enemy I suppose) to show off your collection in all its glory.

Build, design and arrange your game room
Populate your shelves with your actual game library, direct from Steam
Search the BoxCo Catalogue for your preferred furniture and furnishings
Secret figures, collector's editions and upgrades based on certain games - how many are hiding in your collection?
Pick up, inspect and re-arrange your game-boxes as you see fit
Boot your games....from BOXROOM!
Share your rooms with friends and show off your collection
Integrate your own items and textures with Steam Workshop functionality.

Fun concept, scratches the creative/expressive itch. The main issue I faced was frustrations with the limitations of furniture variety and building mechanics. You can't paint doors or window frames, so they will always be white. Many of the lights and furniture can't be painted either, leaving you only able to paint things like shelves, desks, walls and floors (and only from a selection of colors/materials the game gives you). When trying to carefully place something using free-placement, It's irritating because the camera has an idle sway, making it difficult to place things perfectly the way you want them. I'm also kind of shocked that for a 90's aesthetic game-room building game, that there aren't ANY entertainment centers? Regardless, for it being in early-access, I have somewhat high hopes for the future of this game, as long as it fixes these small issues and brings a lot of new content in time.
Is it perfect? No. Is it a good experience, yea, I'd say so. A couple things annoy me so far; -CDs, and games can't be automatically put back from where they where picked up. -Modding the game requires a full relaunch, even though not made extremely clear. -Boxarts must be done through an external program (I'm aware that it's the only way, but downloading things to play a game that is already installed is sometimes annoying) -Music sometimes doesn't play the song, and goes straight back to the song it was just playing. -No sprinting. Would just be a good QOL to get from point a to point b faster.

tbh it get annoying real fast since it won't at least auto load boxart
i have fun to play this game. i made a project to create a room full of the game i made over time on twitch. since we can make our one games i'm going to stream this game a lot. i'm excited to see what is going to be new for this game. i plaed mostl on xbox serie x but i played on my pc a few more becaus i can lunch my games for it! I'm going ti update this post after i pleyed it on live stream for a full review
insanely cool concept and works great as is. The system of applying posters, screens, and game covers could use polishing, same with browsing your library. A bot that auto pulls covers for your games and applies them, so they have a base cover you can choose to change or not would be amazing.
Rougly 7 hours and ive finished decorating a dream collection with a pretty large and vast steam collection! I do think some reviews are fair with saying to wait a bit before buying because yes it is pretty buggy. I however enjoy supporting early access games that I think are cool so Ive never minded bugs so long as none are game breaking. To which I can say in my experience ive only encountered minor inconvenience bugs but none game breaking. This does need more time in the oven but again its early access that is to be expected, so if youve ever wanted to have a cool collection of games like physical collectors but you dont wanna rebuy games or you just want to have a “physical” means of seeing your digital games then this game is perfect for you ! Just be aware theres bugs and glitches but from what I can tell the devs care so im sure itll be patched out in time
Je recommande à tout les collectionneurs, super pour créer une bibliothèque "physique" des jeux que l'on a sur Steam.
Got stuck in the floor for a room i put work into and now can't do anything unless i make a new room. Add an unstuck button and ill consider giving a positive review.
