I'm really impressed of the result. It is more a toy than a game, since you do not have any defined goals. But it is really fun to build your own tracks and create the scenery. I also like the switch between flight and walk mode.
I have bought a number of train simulations of varying complexity, but this is the first one that has scratched the itch I hadn't completely identified previously. BTT just lets you ... play. There are no concerns with economics, schedules, or even excessive realism. it's just a sandbox to build a track and some models in, and watch the train go around. If you prefer the creative mode in Minecraft where you just build things without worrying about gathering resources or fighting the mobs, then you might enjoy this game, too. And it is certainly in a price range where you can take a risk to see if you like it. Really easy learning curve that lets you get to building quickly. I would like to see a few more models of different engines and rail cars, which I assume will be coming eventually. If you would like to know more about this game, I have written a detailed review at Medium: https://medium.com/@soterios/blocks-tracks-trains-a-pc-game-review-8683c117f457?source=friends_link&sk=3a2145c61c39b51a4f9c409c506ba73f

I really like this concept and love the look. The ability to build anything, shape the terrain, and tint everything with different colours are really nice features. Laying the track is simple and intuitive, though as with any train game does have its little quirks, mainly when trying to do more complicated things. The build system is voxel/blocks which include objects, terrain and even rolling stock. The graphics are simple and are not meant to be realistic but actually look quite pleasing. There are currently limited textures but the ability to tint any texture with colour greatly expands the visual possibilities. You can also change the colours of the train cars/locos. In addition there are built in objects that are not block based such as rocks/trees/bushes with random variations, and yes, you can modify the colour of these also. As well as building block structures directly on the terrain you can also build objects on defined grids which allows them to be rotated/moved/copied. Grids are multi-resolution, so you can build more detailed objects if you wish. I would say this game is aimed at anyone who enjoys the process of building structures/scenes, designing a railroad layout and running operations, and not looking for a realistic train simulator. The train control is currently very simplistic with no signalling system, but it can still be enjoyable to manually route trains. The user interface when modifying objects/terrain does take a little getting used to and it is sometimes difficult to wrangle exactly what blocks you want to be added/removed, especially with terrain, but it is still quite usable. The developer seems to be committed and open to discuss ideas/suggestions. I am excited to see how it progresses in the future.
A nice, relaxing sandbox game where you can make your own train dioramas. You can do all the things that a model train set would give you without taking up most of your loft! CHOO! CHOO!!!
Just bought the game after seeing a review on YouTube. The concept is very novel and this early version has great promise. It’s playable and the usability and mechanics are well thought out. I think this game is on the right “track” and has a bright future as the developer continues working on and adding to the game.
Its a fun little game maybe a bit like Tracks The Trainset game and Minecraft Creative joined together. If you like trains and building then this game is good for you. I feel its lacking on content however at this point but the dev is allowing people to import stuff into their game and will be adding Steam Workshop. I think it can be hard to get started but most games require you to learn as you go along. If you're not sure about whether you want to play it or not id recommend getting it and if you don't like it you can always refund. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1745723227 1st hour is me playing this.
Sehr schade. Die Idee dahinter finde ich jedoch großartig.
I could see this becoming a really good game in the coming years. But as it is right now, the base game is rather nice and looks promising, but still needs quite a bit of work. I really wish there was a "Neutral" option for the recommendation, but I can't really recommend this (at least with where it is right now), nor can I say this is a waste of money. Thus, I have to say "yes" I recommend this, but it's a very reluctant "yes". As I said, it still needs a lot of work.
really fun it reminds me of the immersive railroading mod for minecraft and my model trains
