I said I'd recommend this... but really only if you didn't have any other games of this type to choose from. Graphics and interface are dated now, voice acting (while present) is kind of wonky in that everyone has very Americanized voices - even natives from another dimension. The game is also filled with achievements you can miss, and you are forced to play the game twice in order to get all achievements which is a pet peeve. 5 out of 10 rainbows.
Black Rainbow Mystery: Amazon Escape is a hidden-object adventure developed and published by Cateia Games that transports players into a supernatural interpretation of the Amazon rainforest. The game blends classic point-and-click mechanics with a mysterious narrative centered around a dark phenomenon known as the “Black Rainbow.” As players step into the role of a determined explorer, they are thrust into a burning village and quickly drawn into a larger mystery involving ancient curses, forgotten rituals, and secrets buried deep within the jungle. The premise sets the tone for a story-driven journey that prioritizes atmosphere and puzzle-solving over action. The core gameplay follows familiar hidden-object adventure conventions. Players explore richly detailed environments, searching for specific items within cluttered scenes and using collected objects to unlock new areas or solve environmental puzzles. Inventory management plays a steady role throughout the experience, requiring players to combine items and apply them logically to obstacles encountered along the way. Mini-games are interspersed between hidden-object sequences, offering variety through pattern recognition, matching challenges, and mechanical puzzles. While these elements remain accessible and rarely overly complex, they maintain a steady rhythm that encourages forward momentum. The jungle setting is one of the game’s strongest features. Locations range from dense, mist-covered forests to abandoned tribal settlements and ancient temple ruins. Each environment is designed to evoke both beauty and danger, reinforcing the sense that something unnatural lingers beneath the surface. Although the visuals reflect the era in which the game was produced and may appear somewhat dated by modern standards, they still succeed in creating an immersive backdrop for the unfolding mystery. Subtle lighting effects and layered environmental details contribute to a feeling of exploration within a cursed landscape. Narratively, the game unfolds gradually as players uncover documents, interact with characters, and piece together fragments of lore surrounding the Black Rainbow phenomenon. The storytelling leans toward classic adventure tropes—ancient prophecies, mystical forces, and hidden relics—without straying far into complex character development. The focus remains on unraveling the central mystery rather than exploring deep interpersonal drama. Voice acting and a thematic soundtrack help enhance immersion, adding emotional weight to key moments and reinforcing the ominous tone. Difficulty settings allow players to tailor their experience. Casual mode provides frequent hints and guided navigation, while more challenging modes reduce assistance and increase the need for independent problem-solving. This flexibility makes the game approachable for newcomers to the hidden-object genre while still offering some degree of challenge for seasoned players. The inclusion of achievements and collectibles adds mild replay value, though the linear narrative structure means that subsequent playthroughs will follow the same progression path. While Black Rainbow Mystery does not significantly innovate within the hidden-object genre, it delivers a cohesive and atmospheric adventure for players who enjoy methodical exploration and puzzle-solving. Some aspects, such as interface design and pacing, may feel conventional, and those seeking groundbreaking mechanics or intricate branching narratives may find the experience straightforward. However, for fans of story-driven hidden-object adventures set in exotic, mysterious locales, it offers a satisfying journey. Ultimately, Black Rainbow Mystery: Amazon Escape stands as a solid example of classic hidden-object storytelling. Its strength lies in its evocative setting and steady narrative progression rather than mechanical complexity. For players drawn to atmospheric mysteries and traditional point-and-click gameplay, it provides an engaging expedition through a cursed rainforest filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered. Pretty nice puzzle game with interesting different story then others. .
Los puzzles son muy fáciles. Comparado con juegos similares es muy difícil saber con que objetos o zonas de la pantalla puedes interactuar, o cuales son simples decorados.
Graphics: 7/10 Artwork: 7/10 Map: navigable, with hints HOS: none Puzzles: static and dynamic
The weakest point of this game is the lack of a well-developed and coherent story with almost no character development other than just a very sketchy plot line to follow. Given this leans more towards a point-n-click adventure type with no HOG scenes, it is essential that it has a story that explains the protagonist's and antagonists' motives and the overarching plot. In addition, the puzzles are relatively easy and straightforward and the overall game length is also pretty short. Art was alright but without a good story, it is nothing more than pretty pictures to look at.
Very nice game
https://youtu.be/tDhtdcjohkk By dropping into the story without a preamble or setup to the protagonist the narrative fails to hook players. Puzzle design is not able to make up for this shortcoming.
Tags: Adventure - WC - Walk Clicker Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Confused thematically. Hintspam just to navigate confusing environment. Curse/Chosen1/Prophecy storyline. Endless itemfetch chain puzzle. So yeah.. you find an item leading to unlock a thing that gives an item for the thing. All scattered around a bunch of hotspots you constantly backtrack between. Eventually the disconnect from the still images makes it too hard to mentally map out so you have to spam hint just to get from one place to the next. The game has odd messaging, you pilfer gold, outsmart primitive sun worshippers that human sacrifice, unlock ancient astronaut artifacts. At the same time you have people of all ethnicities lurking in magicky caves, asking for backpacks, hoarding a bag of nails. You get really advanced submarine latches, complex mechanical statues, teleport devices. Its all very mixed up together. In the end its just about collecting staves from each elemental mage of some kind, facing a dragon... but by then I had given up. The game does not unlock new environments enough to keep things fresh and the storyline was just too thin. Additionally you can end up with multiple rows of items which serve no purpose other than to get other items which for some reason unlock progression. Its all very artificial and arbitrary. Removing local content and hiding from library for declutter.
