black baby
This feels like a prostate exam that is yet to come. 10/10
Thumbs up just for laughs, but instead of buying this I would rather get a bacon egg and cheese croissant from Dunking Donuts. However, it is still a better game than dark souls 2

When I first heard the name “Black Baby”, I honestly did not know what kind of game to expect. The title is strange, bold, and a little confusing at first glance. But after playing through it, it became clear that Santaclos — the solo creator behind this project — was trying to make something different from anything else in the indie space. And I think he succeeded. “Black Baby” is not simply a game with a shocking title. It is a weird, charming, sometimes emotional journey with a deep message hiding under its simple look. Gameplay & Style The game plays like a mix between a platformer, a puzzle game, and a story-driven adventure. You control a small baby-like creature, called “the Baby,” who is covered completely in shadow. It is not evil, not scary, just… different. The whole world reacts to this difference. Some characters fear you. Some want to help you. Some are simply confused. This part felt very human, almost painfully real at times. The controls are simple — move, jump, interact — but the puzzles are clever. Many puzzles revolve around light and shadow. Since the Baby is made of shadow, light hurts you but also reveals secrets. Darkness keeps you safe but hides important paths. This mechanic is used again and again in creative ways, and every new area introduces a twist that kept me interested. Visuals The art is minimal but beautiful. The world looks like a hand-drawn picture book. Everything has soft lines and glowing colors. The Baby’s pure black shape stands out against this bright world, which fits the theme of contrast and misunderstanding. I liked how the game did not need high-end graphics to feel emotional. Every area has personality — the quiet forest, the warm village, the cold abandoned ruins. You can feel the moods without a single spoken word. Music & Atmosphere The soundtrack surprised me the most. It is gentle, calm, and a little sad. A lot of soft piano notes. Some areas use quiet bells or slow humming, almost like a lullaby. The music makes the world feel alive and full of meaning. It also gives the game a peaceful and reflective mood, even when things become tense. Story The story is simple at first: a strange baby wakes up alone and wants to find out what it is and where it belongs. But the emotional weight slowly builds. Through small scenes, short conversations, and the way characters react to you, the game explores ideas like: identity feeling out of place being misunderstood finding people who accept you and learning to accept yourself There are no long speeches. No complicated lore. Just small moments that add up. I found myself caring about the Baby more than I expected. The ending — without spoiling it — is quiet but powerful. It made me sit for a moment after the credits rolled and think about it. Writing & Tone One of the strongest things about the game is how honest it feels. Nothing is over-explained. Nothing is pushed too hard. The game trusts you to feel the story on your own. It feels like Santaclos was making something personal, something from experience, even if the details are hidden under metaphor. Length & Replay The game is not very long — maybe 3 to 5 hours — but it feels complete. There are also a few different endings depending on how you react to certain characters or choices. I replayed two sections just to see the different outcomes, and it honestly made the story even richer. It made me appreciate how small actions change how others see you. What Makes It Special “Black Baby” is special because it takes a simple idea and makes it emotional. Many indie games try to be loud or shocking. This one is quiet and thoughtful. It never tries to scare you, and it never tries to be edgy. It is a warm, gentle story about difference, loneliness, and connection. Things That Could Be Better No game is perfect, and this one isn’t either. A few puzzles felt a little too easy. Some side characters could have used more lines or more personality. A map system would help, because I got lost a couple of times. But honestly, none of these things ruined the experience for me. They are small bumps in an otherwise smooth and meaningful journey. Final Thoughts “Black Baby” is one of those indie games that stays with you long after you finish it. It is strange, soft, personal, and full of heart. It feels like a game made by someone who truly cared about the story they wanted to tell. If you enjoy games with emotion, atmosphere, and quiet beauty, then this one is worth your time. Rating: 9/10 A slow, thoughtful, dream-like experience that feels both simple and deep at the same time.
10/10 cinematic masterpeice. Starting with nothing in a cold and cruel dungeon infested with evil baby kicking giants paints a shockingly intense setting and forces the player to make their move and flee to the safety of the stairs, or await the violent punting of the aformentioned giants. The level progression and atmosphere is terrifying and incredibly clever. The pitch dark corridors scarcely Illuminated by a lone torch really show how alone and isolated you are as the character, and the finite number of axes really send home the message that every choice matters. In my 4 years on steam no game has ever truly gripped me until Black Baby. I reccomend this masterpeice to all audiences and invite all to come and experience the phsycological horror of Black Baby.
