This is one of those games that really needs a "so-so" rating instead of a positive or negative. I'd put it around a 5 or 6/10. First off, if you're an achievement hunter, bear in mind you will have to finish the game THREE times to get them all, as there are achievements for finishing the game in each of the three difficulty modes, and I've read that finishing in Expert mode does not unlock the "lesser" difficulty achievements. It's my understanding that starting a new profile allows you to choose a different difficulty level for the next playthrough. Translation is a little off, although I've noticed that the English voice acted lines are slightly different and "cleaner" in translation than the translated subtitles. I didn't run into anything egregious, translation-wise, and I found the "Americanisms" and slang kind of endearing, honestly. (Hell's Bells! lol) The gameplay is pretty basic HOG/puzzle style although the gameplay progression isn't always the most intuitive. Using the hint button outside of the HO scenes and minigames will not affect your achievements, however, so there's an "out" if you're getting irritated. The story itself isn't awful although I felt like there was a lot of imagery that was very strongly "borrowed" from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (especially the hint button itself, goodness. You'll know it when you see it.) The story itself doesn't feel like a copypasta, though, so I found it engaging enough. Overall, I got this for $2.49 on sale and I don't feel like it was a waste of a couple bucks for two hours or so of gameplay. I'll eventually go back and play through again for the last two difficulty-level achievements and the idea doesn't make me nauseated or anything. However, if you're very attached to the higher-budget and higher-quality Artifex Mundi and similar games, you may be annoyed or impatient with this one. If that's the case, put it on the back burner until you've exhausted the current supply of HOGs out there!
I have yet to finish this game, and I honestly don't know if I will. I can't recommend this game, there are many better HOG's out there. So far, there's a severe lack of hidden object scenes, which another review also confirms. The puzzles are often strange and not intuitive at all. I didn't like the way they spoke english, and I don't know if it's just a bad translation or someone who doesn't really know how to speak properly. But the first thing by far is that it seemed to me that when you held an object in your hand, it seemed liked the pointer of your curser changed. Like, usually it's the end of the arrow right, but if you held the crowbar for instance, it could be either end. And there's no way to tell where, you just have to guess. It left me often walking through several areas before finally getting rid of the damn thing, making me able to walk back only to try again. Do yourself a favor, skip this one.
No ¿Entonces? Pues en una alcantarilla de la calle principal ¿Dónde iba a estar si no? Genius!

Apparently you can't even 100% this game, because after you choose a difficulty, you can't change it. Which is really, really annoying. Please fix.
Finished in 4 hrs due to frequent use of hints because many actions were illogical to my way of thinking. Few hidden object scenes, but they were well done. Also small but entertaining puzzles.
I love this game! I really like the thematic elements and effort put into the scenes just as much as the puzzles! Thanks for making an excellent game!
You've been called to check a SOS signal from the town of Gateville and when you arrive on site, you're attacked by a shadow. What's happening? Why do you feel like the world is at stake? Beyond the Invisible: Darkness Came is a casual adventure game, with puzzles and hidden objects scenes... oh, sorry, only four HO scenes (and one in the bonus chapter). In other words, the game is more about solving some puzzles and finding objects, combine them and use them to advance. I must say that the game has a good way to tell the story (cutscenes are good), that the voice acting is good and that the rest is correct. I love the HUD and the "diary/notes" feature is different from the usual book. But these points can't help me to get over the fact that....well, actions are ridiculous. Since when a crane toy can help to retrieve a cat carrier that is meters above on the ice cream shop? Also, how come the big umbrella can't help to open the trunk of the car but an heavy pipe can? And why a wire can't open a locked toolbox but an hairpin is? Without forgetting the key with a clock tag that is opening a crate in the garage.... without any clue than your brain remembering the locked box. Oh and the making music with pans during the third HO scene which doesn't open the trapdoor to get the sieve despite doing the right sequence. Took me I don't know how many tries before understanding that I had to go slower! Seriously? As you can see, Beyond the Invisible is mainly frustrating with these kinds of non-sense actions. Games in the same category are more logical and are less clueless for what to do but here, on the easiest difficulty, I had to use many times hints to help. The game looked promising but fails to deliver. As I love achievements, I'll play it until I have 100%. Anyway, the price is at least good but if I was you, I would dive into other games. This one? It's only if you're an achievement hunter. Or an hardcore game for the genre, though even hardcore gamers will avoid it for the sake of it.
