Axiom Verge is my favorite game I played so far this year. The amount of weapons you can discover alongside with the unique abilities you unlock is very great. I loved using the flamethrower and the gun that shot thin green lines everywhere. I love the pixel art style and the game has great boss designs. One complaint I would say is that the boss fights, specifically towards the later half of the game are not very engaging for me. For example for the final boss all you have to is spam upward dash while holding down attack to beat him and the second to last boss just felt like I was face tanking him till I actually killed him. Anyway the bosses aren’t the main focus of this game and everything else is great 9/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

crap game, avoid. unfun, uninspiring, enemies WAY TOO TANKY. too much backtracking cos every 2nd ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ path needs an upgrade you don't have, any time you backtrack enemies from the previous room respawn in full. this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, avoid, tries to be a cool retro shooter but the gameplay is super slow because you need to whittle down basic enemies from afar if you want to make any progress and can literally never run and gun because your weapons do ♥♥♥♥ all damage. real ♥♥♥♥ game.
I just didn't have much fun with it. Music was grating. Plays like an old-school Metroidvania which is fine if that's what you like but I didn't.
Game is great, worst part is the stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ auto weapon swap while using the joystick on the left. no reason i should be having that as a hotswap. it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me on so many enemies or bosses just trying to move and it swapping my weapon. it made me scream. Not very cool choices. and there is literally no "turn this stupid feature off" option. Other then that nonsense, its a great game and good story. But the input ♥♥♥♥, is very defeating for this quality of game.
Very good love letter to Metroid with great weapons, a twisted plot and some great HR Giger aesthetics.
The game's strong assets are the visuals and atmosphere, resembling old glory days of Commodore Amiga and Psygnosis games, with mysterious, moody alien worlds, and throbbing techno soundtracks. Unfortunately, the gameplay is quite tedious with lots of backtracking, and the game design is chaotic and unfocused - rules keep changing, there is no consistent visual feedback (some blocks are destructible while others are not while they both look the same, you must conjure invisible platforms into existence, etc.) The plot sounds like it was written by XEDUR during the long, boring years of guarding an empty corridor, or by some rambling AI - it makes very little sense, and it fails to provide motivation to play on. Since gameplay is more important than looks and sound for me, I cannot really recommend the game. I will probably finish it, but it's a tiresome and frustrating experience.
Hands down one of my favorite metroidvanias, and I have played a lot. Great music, great visuals, great gameplay, and best of all, a ton of secrets.
