About
Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
The Living Lands is an island where the air hums with ancient magic, the flora seems to move with a mind of its own, and the ground beneath your feet shifts with secrets waiting to be unearthed.
Now, the Living Lands faces a dire threat—a mysterious plague that defies nature and reason, spreading chaos across its sprawling wilderness.
As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate, but what begins as a mission of duty soon becomes deeply personal—you feel as though the land recognizes you and is pulling you toward something greater. The choices you make will ripple across the Living Lands, shaping the fates of its people, its creatures, and even yourself. But beware, for every decision carries weight, and the forces you encounter will not hesitate to test your resolve.
Can you navigate the tangled web of intrigue, power, and danger to uncover the truth? Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?
Even more to do in the game! This update brings New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a brand new weapon type with two-handed staves, the ability to change character appearance whenever you’d like, new character creation presets, additional Godlike presets, custom game difficulty settings, and the addition of three new playable races: Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan.
The Living Lands is a place that feels foreign yet somewhat intrinsic to you as it feels the island itself is calling out to you for help. Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way. Dig into your grimoire for spells to trap, freeze or burn enemies, bash them with your shield, or use range bows to attack from a distance.
Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities. From a former mercenary to an eccentric wizard, they will be part of your journey with your choices shaping them as you help them with their quests.

Reviews
There was going to be a sequel to this fun and interesting world but XBOX decide to be a turd and lay off a lot of people at Obsidian and cancelled the sequel to Avowed.
Story and setting is really great, gameplay is not amazing but works pretty well and is entertaining enough.
fun game. not as good as new vegas but still worth playing. lot of potential. hopefully that potential is realized in the sequel
Much better than I expected. - The graphics are beautiful, the landscapes are enchanting. The optimization is good. - The combat is fluid and intuitive. I played as a mage, I really liked it. The only problem was with the aiming of AOE skills, sometimes they were cast right at me. I played on maximum difficulty, but the enemies were not too fat, the small ones fell apart in a couple of punches, the large ones had to be beaten a little, but in moderation. I don't know how it would be to play in miles or range, but it was interesting as a mage. - Leveling is normal, but too straightforward. You can level up skills from any skill tree. As for stats, the first levels give normal bonuses, but with growth the percentage is lost. For example, when leveling up strength from 10 to 11, only 1% of damage is given, which is generally insignificant, so I leveled up the crit chance. - The plot is normal, nothing extraordinary, but quite interesting. There are choices with consequences, which in themselves play a big role, but you don't really feel them, because you move on to the next location. For 100% achievements, you don't need to go through the game twice, if you save the game correctly. - The companions are a circus of freaks, all multi-colored and multi-racial. The human race is represented by a black woman, a cliché. Their stories are not interesting. Well, they are at least more or less adequate, especially the first one. - The open world motivates you to look into every corner, although it lacks mysteries and secrets. Overall, it is well made. Oh, and there is parkour (climbing ledges), which greatly facilitates movement. - The musical accompaniment is just generic fantasy, I can't remember a single melody. - A couple of bugs were that the sound was muffled, as if I was invisible and wouldn't let go until I reloaded the game. This is despite the fact that I didn't upgrade my invisibility. Well, I fell into the textures once (a cliché), but I climbed where I shouldn't. I liked the game, maybe because of my low expectations. I got my share of pleasure, in fact, there weren't even any unpleasant moments. A good adventure that goes by pretty quickly, if you don't deviate from the main plot. 7.5/10.
TL;DR: 7.5/10: Will play again for the achievements but buy a discount. Generally enjoyable to run around in. A generally enjoyable game as as light sort of run around and hack at baddies while you explore every nook and corner. There was great loot just about everywhere and if it looked like you could get somewhere, odds are you can. The story was fine it wasn't bad but it wasn't stunning and it did the job to get you around the map without making you back track (always a plus) and I think it's the awkward delivery of the dialogue that lets it down more than anything else. No real bugs or crashes in what was a pretty completionist play though. The best way to enjoy this is as a game of exploration and maybe reading lore (if you enjoyed the Pillar games, which I did). The achievements are pretty fair to get too, probably will play again to get the hard mode one and mop evil choice ones! It has the bones of something that could have been great but just wasn't, it was enjoyable but average. I hope they make a follow up because that could be great!... Or better yet Pillars of Eternity 3.
8/10
