The game is a blast from the past in all the best ways. It brings back that classic arcade feel, reminiscent of Contra and Metal Slug, with its fast-paced action and chaotic fun. The core gameplay is solid and genuinely enjoyable, and I really hope more quality-of-life improvements are on the horizon.
UPDATE: I have carefully navigated around the soft lock and ran into ANOTHER soft lock that is 100% impassable. The way the game works is that you can leave only after clearing all enemies via a teleporter that spawns in the room. Posted a screenshot of a cleared room, and the teleporter does not spawn. Three times in a row. This room is not avoidable, it is 100% to stop your run and make you lose everything. Sigh. Quick review for people to know: I really like this game, but this is a SOFT LOCK in one of the stages. The rooms are randomly generated from a pool, and if the mentioned room is generated, your run is stuck and you lose all progress because you are forced to restart because you get trapped in the wall/floor. I have screenshots of this posted in their official Discord. If this gets fixed, I will update the review.
Its a cozy game, but it anoys me that some of my missions are bugged, like the rocket launcher... i cant upgrade to tier 2, because the mission for is keeps repeating, and wont let me finish it, but other than that... i would still recommend this game!
Alright so this is literally my first time leaving a review on game ever. Love the game, was playing the mobile version until the micro-transactions got out of hand pretty much since release. The PC doesn't have those problems but them game in incomplete. Not sure if its in early access, but there are a lot of bugs. Complaints A lot of the missions don't register completion Leveling up the heroes feel pointless. Lack of variety and volume of upgrades Lack of Heroes Lack of weapons Music stops playing at some points Not enough information/description on whats what Terrible bug where if you blow up more than 3 tnt boxes it will blow you through the terrain and you cant complete level/you are stuck Momentum of movement doesnt work correctly So right now i give the game a 5/10. Needs a lot of work
Started playing on Steam Deck. Game played well enough, though it stuttered some amount of the time. Progress in the game feels glacial at the beginning, and a lot of the challenges you need to progress are made additionally difficult because of bugs or the game not functioning consistently. Sometimes the room clear portal takes several seconds to unlock, won't register the player, and sometimes sucks you in from across the map when you're trying to collect health orbs. Speaking of health orbs, after the first one or two stages its almost not worth trying to pick them up during a room because they heal for so little individually that any amount of damage is going to require 3 of them to mitigate. You have to wait a little bit after they spawn to pick them up, the hitbox for them is basically right on top of them, and frequently they will spawn inside walls or the floor and you can't get them. Some of the challenges are also broken, where completing them would not unlock the item associated with completion and also would leave the challenge incomplete. There's an issue with the Rampage mission for the rocket launcher to kill a number of enemies in a certain time frame on a difficulty level but you'll get a popup for it on any level every time you kill that number of enemies, but even completing its requirements won't finish the mission and it'll pop up every run you use the rocket launcher. After playing for about 11 hours on the Steam Deck I moved over to my PC only to find out the saves don't transfer. If they fix the bugs and the targeting function of the throwable item to be consistent I think the game would be well worth picking up.
So my "Thumbs Up" may be a little bias due to the fact that I got a free copy of the game, and a complementary t-shirt from their official store after winning the Beta Testing Speedrun, thanks Devs, I appreciate it; But that aside, I actually did have fun playing the game. I think the characters are pretty cool, and the skills each hero have are pretty interesting as well, and even though it would seem like that would make for new runs to feel different than the last, I can also see this becoming stagnant after a while when all the characters have been used, even with the upgrades of gear; So trying to keep things fresh and evolving would be this game's challenging quest. All in all, I enjoyed myself for what it's worth, so if you want mindless fun of shooting aliens, grab it for yourself.
Pretty fun little shooter. Lacks quite a lot of the features and stuff from the mobile version, but I'll keep fingers crossed that we get those in the future updates. Edit2: Launching a game in Steam and not actively answering questions at launch day is quite odd thing to do by developers. This is a bit of a red flag! Just by this, I would hold purchasing the game for a few days.and wait if the situation changes. Edit3: Refunded the game. I might pick it up again at some point if there are as much content as the mobile version. At this moment, not worth the money.
