I bought this during the summer sale because it reminded me of both Dead Cells and Wizard of Legend. If you liked either of those games, you'll like this. It's not a particularly hard game, but it's a good time. The gameplay and characters are both great. EDIT: Spoke too soon. Once you start adding modifiers to the runs, it gets more challenging. Just got to level 5, there's a decent difficulty spike (about 25% more damage and health for all enemies), and there's a long way to go from here.
It's like if Hades was a 2D sidescroller with multiple playable characters.

Strong contender for the best in the genre.
This game has been quite an unhealthy obsession for me and my friend for a good month now. Which is not what I expected at all. I had expected this game which seemed to come out of nowhere to entertain me for a good 4 days and maybe I won't play it anymore. Nope, this game is surprisingly polished. Not to say that it's perfect, no, it has its flaws. But for what it's worth, it's a very enjoyable experience. The mechanics fit nicely and the music slaps. I even find myself enjoying the music just as much as the game. The shenanigans you can get up to in this game is astounding. Some runs you can't even see where you are just from the sheer amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the screen. Which is in my opinion the flaw in this game for me. Sometimes, my eyes can't keep up from all the lasers, particles, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going through the air and lose track of my character. It's pretty annoying especially when you're trying to perfectly clear room after rooms But this is where the flaw kinda fades away because it changes a lot when you're playing multiplayer. Maybe it's just because I suck ass at this game when playing alone. But the experience changes quite drastically when I'm playing with my friend. We clear rooms faster, perfectly clear a lot more rooms, and just generally having so much more fun. Though I have to say, steam remote play is kinda finicky with this game. So I resorted to sunshine and moonlight with my friend to play together when we're not close by. Also, brief linux experience with this game: it runs great with proton. I personally never encountered a problem on linux after forcing the game to run on proton. Basically, the game's great and I highly recommend it to people who like roguelikes. Thumbs up!
The game just lacks on making variety useful with spells not being your main source of damage and instead on activation or hit abilities being your main source of damage leading to the cheap spells with high hits just being way better than the expensive ones. This also leads to different characters not really feeling super different since you are putting the same on hit affects for damage on different spells. This also takes down the idea of chaining spells for the most part since it is just on hit affects or on activation affects. And finally the character specific abilities for weapons don't affect your build in any way making it feel like just filler and not something that matters.
