dont waste my time runing 10 minutes to the boss sorry
Me recuerda a The Maze of Galious
What a great game. It doesn't go easy on you, but the setbacks for failure never feel too punishing because you're always progressing even when you get knocked back to the start. Challenging platforming and combat are enhanced by your ability to swap between multiple characters, all with unique skillsets that are designed for specific situations. Beautiful pixel art and animation bring the varied environments and crazy creatures of the tower to life. The game skillfully employs roguelite elements on top of metroidvania-style exploration; you keep whatever experience you've gained upon death. In fact, for a good long while, dying is the ONLY way to actually spend any of that accrued XP. You are sent back to the beginning of the tower each time you die, but the game mostly avoids the frustration of excessive repetition with plentiful shortcuts and myriad secret passages, some of which take some real sleuthing to find. Hidden treasures and goodies abound in the tower, and are a joy to hunt down because practically all of them feel worth the effort to sniff out. Skill tree progression for the characters isn't super inspired, but there are some really great tricks to unlock for each of your playable warriors that gradually make scaling and re-scaling the tower more of a breeze. There's so much optional content, too. You can critical-path the whole thing from bottom to top and get a fairly unsatisfactory ending, but if you want to be more completionist about it, you'll get better endings, new characters, new challenges, the whole bit. In addition to just being a freaking blast to play, Astalon does a great job of rewarding you for the time you put into it. At 30 hours and 2 trips through the tower, I'm not even close to being done. If you enjoy a classic metroidvania that isn't afraid to take the gloves off occasionally, I can't recommend this enough.
With it being a rogue-lite, the game definitely felt rough at the beginning but that may have been from straining myself from playing for hours straight. Second day on this game I see why people love this game. The balancing is a bit weird though, Algus is undoubtedly the strongest and the main damage dealer and Zeek is super underutilized, but that didn't deter my enjoyment with this game. Story-wise, it definitely feels a bit anticlimatic especially because the tower roots section has some ominous messages, but overall a fun 10-15 hour experience.
great game
It's metroidvania with souls aspects and trine like combat.
