I dont normally leave reviews but as the game has no reviews yet I felt obligated. This is a great addictive little platformer for the price. As a 37 year old who grew up in the platformer era I've been disappointed by some of the retro style platformer remakes as they dont feel right or just not very authenitic but the devs seemed to know what they were going for with this one. It has some nice elements from different classics. Changeable armour/weaponry similar to megaman. Nice bounce mechanics like in super mario. The movement feels very planted, methodical and timing based like many classic nintendo platformers. The bosses are creative and interesting to fight against yet not over challenging. Definitely recommend giving it go.
A fun game where you have to change armor based on the situation. The graphics are beautiful and uses the simplicity of few colors to give the feeling that you are playing a NES game, and if you have played Little Samson before, you see where some of the inspiration of the game came from. Each level has a boss at the end. While I found some of the levels to be quite challenging, I think the bosses were too easy to figure out, where the patterns were a bit too repetitive. I wished the game was longer, but for the price, it was expected to be a short game. It's impressive that both the gameplay and the art is done by one person, as it is done very well on both sides! I had a lot of fun playing this game, and I recommend it for anyone who likes old-school platformers!
Lovely retro game. Fun mechanics and very well done! I recommend it!
Although I have not played much of the game, having fun so far. :) Solid platformer. :)
Nice game with NES-style graphic and music. First levels of the game are quite easy, but difficulty increases as you progress and the final levels can be challenging even for experienced players. A simple plot, funny game characters, cute bosses(although the final boss seemed creepy to me), a retro NES style - this is all Armortale. I've completed Armortale with big pleasure and recommend it.
This is a great old school platformer! The difficulty has a well measured exponential growth and the use of the different power ups in this case the armors, is very important to master since this is used in every situation. You can see that a lot of love was put in this little game! Having a blast so far!
I wanted to like this game, and i did at first. But I got to the lava level which rises so fast, combined with having to switch to the correct armor, killing enemies, and falling spikes i had enough. You have to do every single thing perfectly in this game otherwise you get killed over and over. Plus, if you get hit by an enemy there's zero i frames so you can get by something else instantly. Not to mention the INSANE knockback as well. Its just way too many things that add up. It wouldnt be as bad if there were more checkpoints so you dont have to repeat long sections over and over just to get to the part you need practice on too.
Found this while browsing Steam I like old school games and boy is this old school and I love it. Captures the gameplay and feel of those old school games I used to play so much fun.
Armortale is beautiful and charming reminiscent of Little Samson for the NES. The platforming feels great and the dialog gave me a sensible chuckle. This indie game has heart and soul unlike the tired triple A trash they recycle every year. Absolutely worth grabbing for the price.
I love the retro look. Unique gameplay with changing armour powers on the spot. It can be challenging in the most unexpected places. Overall a really good indie game. Good job!
