In this unconventional visual novel, the player controls the story by choosing whether to use the main character's ability to read people's minds. As an agent of an intergalactic society of freedom fighters, Blaire's telepathic skills can be used in the name of freedom, or to manipulate others for power.

Quantum Conscience is a sci-fi VN with an interesting "mind-read" gimmick. Fortunately, the gimmick works pretty well because it's so intertwined with the main story and endings that you have no choice but to use it frequently if you want to fully experience the game. Unfortunately, the gimmick isn't fleshed out enough so what seems so cool about it at first can lead to frustrations that you can't avoid. There are consequences for mind-reading too little, or too much and the game doesn't notify you of when there are new "thoughts" that you can read. You have to keep checking on the Void stream (the mind-read interface) to make sure you don't miss anything. However, the game does indicate when your mind-reading (or lack there of) has consequences via use of symbols on screen. These symbols didn't make much sense to me, and the tutorial vaguely explains them. I got the gist of it, but I feel like they could've been implemented in a better way. The writing is fairly decent and kept my interest throughout the game (enough to achieve two endings), and the character art is passable but neither good or bad. The dreariness in the gray tones used for the characters makes the game seem more lifeless than it should be. I don't know if it was designed like that to set the mood for the atmosphere or if the omission of color was due to laziness. The background art is TERRIBLE, sometimes I can't tell if the dev was intentionally trying to be as abstract as possible, or they scribbled and called it a day. There are multiple romance scenarios that you can persue in the game, but they're short lasting and don't have much depth. Since the character art isn't very appealing, it was one of the main factors in making me dislike the romance options. I actually passed on this game initially because at first glance the art is rather bad. However, I suggest giving the game (or demo) a try because the mind-reading gimmick and story are both rather unique, and these types of VNs are lacking on Steam. The price offsets the main cons that I encountered with the game, so it's about as fair as you can expect.
A really interesting visual novel with a unique spin on making choices. Rather than selecting choices from a menu, you decide when and how often to make use of an interesting mechanic in which the main character can read the minds of those around him. What he/she learns or doesn't learn dictates how he reacts to different situations. It's a nice change from the usual modus operandi of visual novels. The story's themes are rather existential and interesting, framed in a somewhat typical science fiction setting. The art is rather hit or miss, with some of it being really beautiful and other aspects being rather poor. Personally, I was a little creeped out by the way smiles were drawn on the characters. Overall, it's an excellent entry into the visual novel genre. Somewhat short, but with excellent replay value. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good story and is intrigued by the concept of personal mental privacy.
Kitty robots, queer characters, people of color, and mind-machine interfacing -- what's not to like? Kudos for being able to choose the gender of the protagonist; although, it would've been even better if there was a non-binary option. I really liked the mind-reading stuff through "the Void" because, as unethical as it may be, reading minds is a superpower I wish I had. I think most people wish they had that power at some point in their lives, if not several times in their lives. It's neat the way using that power can affect outcomes so easily. There were romance options, men and women. However, they seemed rather secondary to the story, which is fine. Sometimes romance isn't a person's cup of a tea. So, a person who isn't looking for romance in their story could probably still enjoy this game if they like sci-fi themes. I highly recommend this VN for its unique gameplay and interesting story.
8.6/10 - A Sifi Visual Novel with a Twist! This visual novel really did it for me for the most part. The setting was very dystopian and the story provides enough length and intrigue to keep you reading until the end. This isn't your typical visual novel which I really appreciate. It's extremely long and provides you with hours of content and some unique features. It took me 6 hours to complete the story, and I wasn't disappointed! My only complaints are that the music can get quite monotonous and I got ending #3 which didn't come with an achievement so that sucks. The interesting element to this game is "The Void". Essentially, you use the void to read other people’s minds and gather enough secrets and intelligence to determine the outcome. Although there aren't many actual choices; if you decide not to read someone's thoughts the story will go in an entirely different direction. Worth the full $5! Quantum Conscience Quantum Conscience is a Visual Novel [VN] by Woodsy Studio. It's a sci-fi type VN and you can choose when you want to be able to read people's minds, for good OR bad. The game itself feels pretty unique, considering it's story, mind-reading element and that it has a ton of choices your character can make. Your mind-reading can change your relationships with some of the characters, so you had to think before you just mindlessly clicked. I recommend it based on it's story telling abilities, uniqueness and I enjoyed the ability to influence my relationships with mind-reading. It's graphics aren't top notch for a VN, but they're different enough it just seems to suit the VN.
Got this VN on a bundle a while ago. The art style is different (I found it unique to be honest, and fitting to the story) and the BGM is really good. Loved the fact that you can play as male/female too. The story is pretty interesting, and your choices really do matter to achieve a certain ending. I recommend getting this title on sale and if you’re a fan of sci-fi. 7/10.
A nice feature: 3 of 4 achievements for special endings dropped immidiately right on the first start of this game newly added to my account! + An intriguing story of a telepathic traitor spy trained in a free world outside to infiltrate the gloomy toxic planet of aristocratic hackers who integrated themselves with a network to maintain full dictatorship over minds. There are some funny paradoxes regarding the freedom of personal will & stuff. Not a bad sci-fi piece. + Cool mind reading feature enriches the narrative & provides some illusion of strategic gameplay behind skipping text blocks. + Atmospheric ambient music. + Large clear fonts. The negative side is the primitive vector art with poor rushed-out backgrounds. Still I have to recommend it, for it's got soul and originality.
In Quantum Conscience you play as Protagonist#1, the same character you've seen in 2934893 other VNs. Protagonist#1 meets SideCharacter#2, #3, #4 and at the end #5, and just by looking at their design you can outright guess their "personality". After a grand plot, the heroes wander à Guardians of the Galaxy on crack. The writing style is okay, the plotline is moderately interesting. The problem are the several leaps in the story. The author puts characters in a weird tightspot (for the dramatic effect?) and then comes up with unlikely event to save them. The art is bad. One female is crooked, and I disliked the design of two of the males
they look like gender-bent cut-out from a teenager's fashion magazine
. The backgrounds are attrocious. Their "revolutionary" mind-reading mechanic is unique - but unique =/= good
insert bent fork
. Having to constantly change into the mind-reading menu to look for new lines to read is a drag. Protagonist#1 uses the information he gathers in the weirdest possible way. I'd rather have a regular VN, where I can choose if my Protagonist#1 is brain-dead or not. Achievements were fine - one for each ending - and Linux port was perfect, thanks to Renpy. There are a few interesting points in Quantum Conscience, but it doesn't come close to making up for the rest. Stay away.
