I've developed a strange interest in mechs, even though I don't necessarily like them all that much to begin with xD The gameplay looked fun, and I'm finding myself getting hooked.
Completely unapologetic mech game that knows exactly what it wants to be. It's executed with a clear passion and understanding of the genre. Beautifully war-torn setting, but still includes the pristine future-land cities and megastructures here and there that are needed to have true and proper mecha combat. Plot is cynical, but allows for optimism at a cost. Action is incredible and victory feels well earned... save for some cheesy builds - although these, too, may be punished if you use them as a crutch. Sound design is extremely important to these types of games and Armored Core 6 shows why. Overall mission and set design is grand. The plot continuously builds up throughout the game before climaxing as the dramatic artillery-filled opera that you would expect. Fun characters despite everyone being inside a robot and only seen via their JPEG emblem avatars. But again, this game is an uncomprimising full mecha, if I saw a single human I wouldn't give this game as good of a review. These small attributes give the game a specialized character that would be lessened if certain "improvements" were added in order to normalize the game. Any Fromsoft fan should know by now that this studio has mastered less-is-more in certain design choices. Also in line with Dark Souls fashion, includes space dust hallucination home base hacker AI wife.

one of my favorite games of all time. perfect blend of fromsoft difficult gameplay and mecha power fantasy. playing well means actively using the entirety of your controller, not to mention getting good at this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ satisfying and stylish. story is peak. even if you don't buy it, watch the vaati 5hr video on the lore and you will not be disappointed.
Armored Core VI won me over in an insanely short period of time compared to other games I play. I have dreams about piloting an AC The way this game makes me feel like a god in a 3-story tall metal carapace is a feeling I can only wish I could have in my own lifetime. At time of review I have completed every achievement at 115 hours, and I can see myself playing this game for countless hundreds more. The way the story is written is captivating. Fromsoft really pulled out the PCA Satellite for this one. Rusty is my favorite character by a long shot and I know I'm not alone in that. Every cutscene was cool asf too, I found myself spamming my screencap button on multiple occasions. As far as gameplay, this is classic fromsoft. A lot of the difficulty comes from how well you build your AC, seeing as how there's not really any leveling system, but even if your builds are sub-optimal, you'll probably still be able to play through the entirety of the campaign with a little difficulty. AC6 gives you a little bit of help by providing straightforward descriptions of what each stat does, as well as prebuilt ACs that you get from progressing in the game, but it's still up to you to put together a strong AC. In classic Fromsoft style, the skill ceiling of actually piloting your AC is crazy high, but learning to pilot your AC effectively is a very, very enjoyable process. If you can buy this game, buy it. It's worth it, Boring stuff: My rig is really nothing special and I don't think this game has lagged for me once. I've got a decent graphics card that ran me about 300$ and I believe it's still close to that at time of writing. I have 32 gb of DDR4, which *was* affordable when I purchased it but our AI generated overlords have decreed that nothing is safe. I'm not a computer nerd but I've attached my specs for those interested. Game is smooth as butter.
我需要dlc,不然我要渴死了
The only good FromSoftware game
OK I'm a FromSoftware fan based on how much I like their games, but I did not expect to like AC6 this much. I dropped it after 2 levels because it felt boring, then I read a few info online about "changing builds being core gameplay and part of the fun", and that's what got me: I started playing with builds and the game turned a lot more fun. I discovered melee was a thing and focused on that build, but then later on I discovered I love big booms and also fast moving mechas. Overall, while the game could look fast paced, I never perceive it like that: like most FromSoftware games, it feels like driving a tank, you can determine if you are going to be hit an entire second before the attack hits you. There is time to think between each attack and deciding your next move is important in avoiding damage. Making your cool mecha is amazing, this is possibly the first mecha game I actually enjoyed. The story is fun, and just heads up you gotta finish the game multiple times to see it all. Highly recommended, it felt like a souls game with fighting only, essentially.
It's cool and has a lot of cool moments, but it's alright. I like mechs of all sorts, and played the other armored core games on the playstation so I got this one. I bought it on sale (50%), I wouldn't recommend it at anything other price than that. Feels like an actual 7/10 for me. Played on linux, and it ran wonderfully. I played with m+kb because the controller wasn't responsive enough, had noticeably more input lag than mkb, and was too slow for me. No FOV slider, so used a mod to not feel cramped. No option to remove all blur; no turning off all the blur in options doesn't turn off all blur, chromatic aberration and something else, I forgot at the moment, keeps blurring the game which you can't turn off, which is quite a pain on the eyes for long term game play. It's just Armored Souls at this point. No health for individual parts or pieces on mechs. There's no point in using some weapons or armors, which is a shame, because some pieces are just better in the same weight/energy ratio; unless of course you enjoy gimping yourself for the challenge like being the naked man in the souls series. They give you melee and shields and then limit the fun for it; sadly you can't run a 4 weapon melee build or a 4 shield build, or something mix like that, melee is only usable on left arm (lame), and shield is only usable on left back slot (lame). Bosses are okay, some are just newage spin attack bosses which looks cool the first time around, but is eh and has the silly "I get stronger and faster in my second phase!" anime type stuff. I'd rather they designed good fun bosses I can blast weapons or parts off to disable them. There is a co-op mod which makes the game much more fun to actually play with others. Game still has bugs which keep popping up. Color customization is awesome, and music is pretty good. 3 endings, you unlock new missions on a ng+ and a couple new ones in ng++ as long as you pick the option you didn't before. Endings remind me of the DS3 endings.
