About

You awaken with no memory and no purpose — only a final directive left behind by a dead world:
Finish the war.
End Nexis.
You are the last surviving war machine of an extinct species, rebooted to destroy the quantum AI that seized Earth and erased all life.
There will be no rescue.
There will be no rebuilding.
Only termination.

You dismantle the Nexis network through six hostile industrial zones: military bunkers, chemical refineries, sewer systems, offshore platforms, dense server complexes, and an orbital facility above a lifeless planet. Each operation fractures another layer of the machine hierarchy, drawing you closer to the Nexis core — and to the realization that nothing remains to reclaim.

Combat is precise, tactical, and unforgiving.
Every system in your chassis has purpose: energy routing, shield control, armament synergy, and movement efficiency.
Victory depends on timing, positioning, and disciplined power use — not spectacle alone.
Defeated bosses unlock new armaments, expanding your combat options and deepening the tactical layer as the campaign advances.

Face swarms of autonomous drones, entrenched turrets, advancing humanoid frames, elite combat units, lethal industrial hazards, and the Echoes of Nexis that overwhelm arenas with reinforcements.
Nine warforms stand between you and the core.
Every machine is active.
Every machine is hostile.
Every machine must fall.

Break the final defenses.
Breach the orbital core.
Shut down the last machine capable of ending you.

Playing through the first mission yielded a very low tutorial, offering vague instructions on how the game functions or how to actually play it, leaving a lot of that up to the player. I find the game to have entertaining gameplay, but it lacks a lot of the action that it could've had. The enemies feel empty, and the bosses in the game are very apparent solely due to having high damage numbers. Boss attacks are extremely unpredictable which adds a view of extremely fast pacing forcing movement outside of the typical dodge mechanic forcing the play to hold the spacebar and move out of the way for anything, since that's the fastest way to get out of the way. The games systems are not described well and introduce multiple upgrade systems that, as a player, are slightly difficult to keep track of. I feel the game has high potential as a ramping difficulty scaling action roguelike. I will continue to play this game and will try to learn the systems in it. I also dont plan on refunding this game since I understand how much time goes into creating any game in general. I wish this games developer continues to add more features and more content to the game. Things I like I personally like the gameplay aspects, it feels fast and and highly mobile anybody who has played any of the armored core games can quickly adapt. I enjoy the upgrading elements and the ability to customize your build between select options but early in the game I don't understand what the upgrades are actually doing. model and map design is very pretty to the eye it feels like I'm playing a retro game that's been modernized to fit resolution scaling and capable of fast actions. Things I don't like There can be a lot going on (this is not a problem) between reading subtitles, checking shields/health, checking cooldowns, managing ammo reserves, tracking enemies, and so on. A lot of things isn't a problem, but I personally would like to see a method of the UI that allows everything to easily be tracked while watching for incoming threats. The next mechanic I'm not necessarily a fan of is the decryption puzzles throughout the game, while they are unique it's a forced break from the action in order to get your next upgrade that can require a tiny chunk of time in order to solve it. While combat is fun larger projectiles or enemies about to launch devastative attacks can add a thrill its very unpredictable, the first bosses combat makes sure you know it is a boss. High damage numbers, additional units to monitor on your UI and corner placed captions adds to even more elements to be aware of when trying to understand the games story. One minor issue I had was the ammo drops, I ended up messing up due to grabbing all surrounding ammo crates unknowing I was at max capacity essentially wasting ammo forcing me to result to using melee combat for the rest of the boss fight. the last issue I found in the game was movement, using traditional WASD, space bar, and shift for movement keys I notice it will lock you into "strafe" movement, this is fine, fast game needs fast movement. Wondering what "standard" movement was I began pressing buttons and checking the settings menu to find arrow keys are your standard movement, but... standard movement doesn't work. There will be standard movement walking animations played and looped but you will remain stagnant and in place, (funny little bug to report). Last issue I have is the upgrading systems for equipment that wasn't easily described for taught how to use. In conclusion this game is fun, I recommend it to anybody looking for an indie experience sharing similarities with other armored core/mech games. Finding it on a day one release on a boring night was an interesting play, I'm now supporting this developer and wish them and game well with hopes to see more content and a helpful new player experience to lock in newcomers to a fun experience. I plan on periodically playing through this game more and will update this review if any of my view points change throughout. Best of luck Empyreum Studio I wish you and all of your work well!
For a game made by a single developer, this is actually pretty solid. It’s clearly inspired by the Armored Core series, with heavy use of neon lighting and an OST that feels like old school space EDM, similar to the earlier HALO games. I’m not usually a fan of overly bright neon visuals, but that’s clearly part of the game’s identity, so it’s not something I can really fault it for. Unfortunately, the UI design is where the experience falls apart for me. A lot of the text is difficult to read either it’s too small and cluttered, poorly placed (forcing me to look away from the center of the screen), or it blends into the background due to color choices. This is especially disappointing because I genuinely want to like the game, but the UI issues were distracting enough that they completely killed my motivation to keep playing. That said, I can see how some players might not be bothered by this at all. The price itself isn’t bad, and I’d recommend it if you’re itching for something similar to Armored Core and enjoy fast-paced mecha combat. Just don’t go in expecting everything to be perfectly smooth or completely bug-free.
First of all, this is awesome for a solo developer. Pat yourself on the back. I have played the first 3 missions only so far and plan on playing more. The only real gripe I have is that hits don't feel impactful enough which leads to some enemies feeling a little spongy and makes the game not feel quite as good as it looks. However, the actual combat flow and mechanics are very sound and I am finding myself hitting moments of flow state the more I play. If you like AC-like Mecha combat and want a roguelite twist on it, this is your game. Put some more time in it, but am not feeling the desire to finish. The gameplay itself is pretty good, that's not really the issue here. The primary issues I have that are preventing me from wanting to continue are: - Little to no weapon impact so weapons never feel powerful - Weapons don't sound powerful either - Soundtrack is very understated to the point where it detracts from immersion - Run upgrades are only % modifiers which gets repetitive - Preset mecha gets repetitive even as you unlock new weapons Overall there are good bones here and this is an awesome first game. It's just missing some polish and a little sauce. I look forward to your next game and will likely come back and finish Neuroxus if it gets an update addressing the issues. Thank you for making this!
Very fun. Armored Core but with roguelike upgrade choices instead of building your mech. The style really works for me. I like the combo of low poly but with lots of flashing colors.
As a mech fan, this is awesome. There is a severe lack of mech games out there, especially Armored Core like games. This was an instant buy for me and I've only gotten through a couple of level so far, but I've enjoyed it. It isn't by any means at the same level as the recent AC6, but as a solo-dev game, this is fantastic. There are some things that can be improved upon: more customization and less "skill tree" type stuff, but I'm honestly looking forward to whatever you make next. Well done and thank you!

I enjoyed what I was able to play - satisfying combat with fluid movement and a nice range of weaponry - but sadly the game spontaneously wiped my save. As it happened at random, seemingly not caused by anything, I can't justify continuing to play (or recommend that anyone else plays it) when the same thing could happen again any time.
