Archimedes: Eureka! Man, this game stinks on ice! I tried to stick with it and finish it all, but it's just completely aggravating and un-fun. JetDog Studios makes some AWESOME time management games (their Hercules franchise, as well as their Alicia Quatermain games), but this one falls flat. It introduces a bit of a city-building element to the whole time management schtick, similar to what Cateia Games did with their Country Tales and Kingdom Tales games, but with Archimedes, it doesn't work well. First of all, there are no difficulty settings; There is only the default difficulty...which seems to be pretty darn difficult on many of the levels!. Because of this, there seems to be essentially no margin for error. Things must be done in a very specific order, and it seems that even the slightest deviation will doom you. After hours of trial and error, razing starting structures, re-building them, razing them, racing to juggle all these variables, and trying numerous variations to complete the levels with three stars...I still end up getting hosed. Even when I follow their in-game guide to a T, I still often struggle to get three, or even two stars. Yeah, yeah...I know, I know...get gud. Well, I am good at all of their other time management games, as well as other games of this type/genre (such as Cateia's titles, among others), but this one eludes me. It makes me think maybe the difficulty curve in this game is a bit skewed. Anyway, Archimedes has just ended up being an exercise in frustration and futility for me. If you like time management games, I'd highly recommed JetDog's other titles in this genre. But skip Archimedes -- it just plain sucks.
Archimedes: Eureka!
Time management game from 2018. It's a city-building simulation that's just boring. You clear streets to build buildings or gather materials. I played 15 levels and it took me 2.5 hours. During that time, everything just seemed repetitive. Different maps, almost the same content. Over time, more is added, increasing the difficulty. A very simple concept, but coupled with ever-increasing amounts of material to collect. It couldn't be more boring and unimaginative. The maps are also correspondingly simple. I didn't like it, so it failed the test.
Archimedes: Eureka!
Similar to Jet Dogs' dudes-on-roads offerings (especially the 12 Labours of Hercules series), but with a bit more of a city-building feel. Only flaw is no untimed "Casual" difficulty (there is, in fact, only a single difficulty). All-in-all, a fun, colorful, casual little stragegy game. Fullscreen works find on multiple monitors. Runs great on Steamplay (Mint 18.2 Nvidia 384.130 GTX 1060).
it's at best only half as good as the Hercules series. i fairly don't understand the whole endevour, the story doesn't draw me in at all. the mechanics at first seem similar but somehow it's just a hassle, not engaging. & as the other reviewer wrote, it has only one difficulty level & a very narrow error margin, so it's rather just a puzzle game to get the things build & done as quickly as possible in the "right" order, which i find completely boring in a game. i will refund, even if it's just few bucks, but i know i won't be playing it.
It is a time management game I really wanted to like but it is just so damn frustrating. The difficulty seems so brutal to the point it feels like if you don't do everything absolutely perfect you wont get 3 stars. And a lot of the times your clicks just don't register properly and you can't queue actions to take. There is a 100 levels in total to play. It works without any issues on Linux with Proton (6.3-4). There is something weird going on with the store page tho (constantly removed and readded).
Kaufen, kaufen, kaufen ! Von den Machern von Hercules. Mehr braucht man eigentlich nicht zu sagen. Ihr werdet es lieben. 100 Level. 100 Stunden Spielzeit (wenn man will oder muss^^) 100% Spielspaß. 100% Spielstand.
Archimedes
From the creators of ''12 Labours of Hercules'' we find a title that tries to show us the story of Archimedes from a different and more fun point of view. We will see what these developers bring us these days, and see if they can surprise us with this game. Positive Points •Very good HUD, really striking. •Cinematic scenes before each '' world '' where they tell us a brief history, you are themselves with a professional voice and with really good scenes. •A trophy room that we will fill as we complete achievements or challenges that the game proposes. •A very good sound combination, which emphasizes music over sound. •A tutorial in which most of the mechanics of the game are explained, in addition to what we still need to learn we will finish it knowing, since the game is very interactive and easy to understand. •Very simple collection system for wood and gold, but what works well. •The controls are the simplest thing there is: Left click. •Possibility of destroying the buildings, with which we will obtain half of the resources that cost us in the beginning its construction. •'' Guide '' button on the lower left side which will serve to explain what we need to do at that level, in a brief and concise way. •The difficulty is progressive, it begins as something simple but slowly becomes complicated and difficult to solve. •Over time we will find different characters which will be helpful or vice versa and we will have to use our resources to go through them. •Buildings with more than two types of improvements available, which will affect differently. The best thing is that you can have the two improvements at the same time, modifying the appearance of the buildings. •The animations of the characters are very well made, you can see what they have worked on in each of their actions so they look good. •At each level there will be a score made by the same developers of the game, which will put us as objective to win. •Extra section, in the game menu, where we will have several cool images to choose as wallpaper. •A good sound environment, both in music and sounds. •More than 100 levels to enjoy. •The price is more than good for what is worth in terms of content. •The requirements are minimal, any computer could run it without problems. •The most important thing of all is that with this game you have fun and time really flies when you are in it. Neutral Points •It is only available in one language but the development team encourages people in the community to make their own translations, so that in the future they become official. •There are only three resources in the whole game, food, gold and wood, I think it's fine in a certain way why there would be no way to add other resources. •There is no story in itself, it distorts a lot and becomes confused when passing the levels. •The mouse pointer changes to a personalized one, which I personally do not like. Negative Points •Some structures do not seem of the time what the game is representing. •The resources that we earn are not collected automatically, but what one has to pass over the cursor so that in certain occasions we will forget what we have available there. •The places where there were previously trees and now are empty can not be reused to build, which I see as illogical. •The time of the level only appears as a bar, I think it would be better if it appeared in numerical form so as not to be on the verge of cardiac arrest. •Since its launch they have not updated it, although I think it does not need it. Conclusion It is an incredible game which, as I said before, you end up playing 1 full hour without even noticing. I recommend buying this game if you like challenges, strategy and have fun for a really good price. Casual game indispensable any type of user.
