Decent game, not the best community.
Its been a decade how are knives this unbalanced...
Meh. Not bad for $17. Combat is too floaty and it just was not for me. Reminds me of like a halfway point between Tribes and Halo.
Awfull community and cant hide chat, toxic players almost every match. Game is fun, plays like a 360 game so price is a bit beefy for that, but what else are they gonna do, they need to earn some money so its fine. Worth it if you can look past the jank but wont upvote the review or ever play again till they add hide chat. Also very janky!
I like the concept of this game but I do not enjoy the gameplay. The space dogfighting is very difficult and confusing, and more often than not I find myself wiped out with little understanding as to how as it does not show me what killed me and immediately returned me to the respawn screen. The few times you are actually put in infantry gameplay, you need to contend with gunplay designed for schizos high on cocaine and very sweaty people. Call me what you want but this game is very hard to get into, even casually, and to enjoy and you're better off looking elsewhere.
This game is simply amazing. Did you grow up in the late 90s and early to mod 2000s? Do you like Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the 2002 version not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ EA one), do you like OG Halo multiplayer? (Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach) Then you will LOVE Angels Fall First. This game is if Bungie era Halo had a baby with Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2002 version). You have Halo's classic fps red vs blue where you complete objectives like king of the hill or even full on space battles like in Battlefront 2 where you pvp players in different types of space ships while either attacking or defending an objective. There is also space boarding where you and other team mates can fly a boarding shuttle and enter an enemy player's capital ship to sabotage and destroy it. Angels Fall First is simply a good old fashion FPS PvP game, and not one of those modern sweaty FPS hero shooters like Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Overwatch, or Apex Legends. This game brings back the old school early 2000s era of just pure fun FPS PvP, no different heroes with crazy abilities you have to learn, no crazt meta to follow. You are just a soldier with a bunch of guns, you run around and shoot other players, its as simple as that. It brings back the simplicity and allows you to just kick back and relax and unwind after a long day or work or school, just like how we used to do on Halo 2 and 3. This game is awesome, go get it if you love a simple no frills FPS. P.S. You can play with bots if you just wanna chill alone.
Basically how Battlefront 3 would have looked in 2010, with all the pros and cons that entails. Pros: Bot support Runs well Lots of features No microtransactions Cons: Somewhat dated combat feel (Somewhere between Battlefield 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2) Some balance problems Small but dedicated playerbase
It's lagging behind in all the basic things for a modern game. Menu's aren't very intuitive and you're not even allowed to ALT+F4 out of the game which is a hell of a choice. Would refund if I didn't buy it ages ago when it was still as bad as it is now.
This is one of the first games in a long time that gave me a tribes2 like feeling. It does not compare exactly to it, but there are similarities, not least of which is that it's a sci-fi based shooter. In a lot of ways this is better than tribes, but there are things missing. Customization of both units and maps is better (way more than just a size+mod pack), bots are better, graphics are probably better. Space is an additional optional depth. Movement is less satisfying, base building isn't really a thing, forming guilds/tribes isn't really a thing. The last battlefield (and any of the recent CoD games) I was extremely disappointed with. The graphics are superior for those, but darn well anything else is by far superior here, and it's cheap! I fully recommend this purchase, and fervently hope that there is an Angels Fall First 2 (Angels Fall Second?).
It's *ALMOST* there, but just about everything is at least a bit wrong. Gunplay feels off on both foot and space, with practically no magnetism, weight, or visual feedback on everything from your big booms to your knife. There's *theoretically* a big focus on teamwork/command but everyone by default gets tossed into a squad of like one or two and you have basically no indication of what's the closest way to get to your teammates (e.g. the game DOESN'T TELL YOU WHAT SHIP YOUR TEAMMATES ARE ON) and some objective gamemodes quickly degenerate into the worst of Battlefield/Battlefront with the gear you have available. This all culminates in an extremely satisfying boarding experience: your motley crew of people from 4 different squads who saw they could spawn in a dropship, versus one guy whose squad isn't even aware they have a corvette. You all just rush the pilot with a knife and blow their ship core in one minute flat. It's very funny, but I *would* like to actually fight a crew.
