Pretty cool
An incredibly fun combined arms game that feels like a spiritual successor to the orginal "Refractor"-era Battlefield games, and the classic Star Wars: Battlefront games. Whilst rough around the edges with stutters and hitches being frequent for me, as well as some map geometry screwing up player and vehicle movement. I still find the game greatly enjoyable. The game is not exactly newbie-friendly. Whilst the tutorial teaches the bare basics I don't think it does enough to educate new players on the quirks of this game such as the leveling system. The loadout system can also be overwhelming for new players. I also experience semi-frequent stutters and hitches in game and in the menu. This could be purely a Linux problem but it is still a problem nonetheless. Angels Fall First still delivers an incredibly fun combined arms experience. Vehicles can be monsterous at times which makes taking one out all the more awesome. The gunplay is pretty satisfying with each weapon having good animations and sound effects. The soundscape without the music is fairly lacking but the music is nice. I recommend buying the soundtrack as it has some good stuff on there. All in all, Angels Fall First is rough gem. It delivers a combined arms experience similar to classic Battlefield and classic Battlefront. It is well balanced and allows for awesome team fights. Best part is that when you buy the game you get the whole game. No map packs, DLC expansions, paywalled weapons or skins. Full offline support with bots for all game modes is also included meaning that even during off-hours you can still play the game.
Its pretty cool battlefield/ battlefront 2 type gameplay got it on sale might not pay full price as changes need made but they are getting done.
Flight mechanics are awesome, bot feature is great when you're trying to learn the game. A credit to the people who made it, a lot of thought has gone into it, and it shows.
cool
Angels Fall First is a first person shooter with multiplayer and singleplayer. Multiplayer mode has players choosing one of two factions and fighting over a map, while some bots also populate the teams to fill in empty slots. Singleplayer is very similar, except that it is populated entirely by bots. The maps can range in scale from urban ground combat or rugged industrial zones to deep space outposts and asteroid fields. There are a wide range of vehicles to operate. In space there are interceptors, fighters, bombers, frigates, destroyers, battleships, etc. The larger ships rely on players to perform manual repairs on subsystems like engines, shields and point defense. On the ground there are LAVs, IFVs, tanks and gunships. Each of these vehicles can have customized loadouts. Similarly, soldiers on the ground can have customized loadouts. There are many attachments, modifications and utilities to choose from. From modifications that improve reload speed or magazine size, to medkits, ammo crates, turrets, etc. You can add scopes, underbarrel launchers, alternative ammo (for example, EMP ammo). You can choose different armor types such as heavy or light, and even those you can customize further with different specifications regarding armor plating, speed and agility, sensor jamming, etc. It is a very in depth but simple to understand system. I recommend this game. My only complaint is that the matches genuinely feel too short sometimes. I've seen a match last 5 minutes before, I want them to usually last 25-30 minutes.
As a Homeworld veteran this is how I envisaged an updated version might look and feel. Still very early days for me but looking forward to the learning journey.
I don't write reviews for games, but this isn't a game to me anymore. This is a story of how developers PAINFULLY grinded through 10 years of their life whenever they could for passion and a few cents on the dollar. I want everyone who thinks about this game to remember, we've seen triple A titles produce Star Wars Battlefront II, Battlefield 5, Battlefield 1, Battlefield 6, Battlefield 2042, Squad, ARMA 3, ARMA Reforger in those ten years. NONE of those titles gave me hope on release whether it be with microtransactions, unfinished products, bugs, countless errors, processing issues, having to upgrade my PC, the list continues. My point is, THIS game has been in the oven for TEN YEARS, because the developer wanted to do right by everyone standing behind them. I bought this game and put it away because it delivered something no other game does, and no other game seemingly will. We can fight on capital ships, you can fight in space, you can do a bombing run, boarding parties, ODST fantasies to the infinitum, heavy guns, heavy armor, big shields, stealth, explosions, Michael Bay's probably in this I wouldn't be surprised. The game has everything, so try it out. Now that it is getting the population it deserves I couldn't be happier with where this game landed. So Strangely Interactive, as a shadow fan I just wanted to say thanks for not giving up and abandoning your game, I can tell you all love it just as much as I love playing it.
