Ist ganz cool, für Fans solcher spiele eine klare Empfehlung
This game is bad on so many levels. The writing is consistently bad, the characters are weird (in a bad way) and the fight system is grindy. Our protagonist is adamant that he will not kill while we run around slaughtering monsters left and right. Saying the story is inconsistent isn't enough. Our protagonist knows something is wrong, ignores it and actively does THE WRONG THING for no reason at all. He doesn't do this once, but all the time. * aiding a fiend knowing that something is wrong * aiding a fanatic/terrorist * bringing everyone down with him (parents, love interest, classmates, ...) * doesn't know what he wants * doesn't question anything * ... The "love interest" Vanessa forces herself onto us while telling that we aren't the same guy she fell in love with. I don't know what the MC feels towards her because he gives mixed signals wherever he can. He has to protect her and wants to flee with her to have a family?!? But when she kisses him he wants to be just friends... Anyway the story makes no sense, the gameplay is a bog standard RPG without niceties, the controls are mediocre, the performance of the game is bad for what it is (it runs at a consistent 40FPS?), the writing is bad, the pacing is bad. It's not the worst game I ever played, but it's not worth the price (9 Euro at the point of writing) I stopped playing at this point in the story: Where is Vanessa? Oh she is in the apartment building second story Where is Vanessa? Oh she is in the apartment building third story Where is Vanessa? Oh she left with Foo to a secret location! which I will tell you if you go through the old forest, into the rain forest, find the thief that stole a random crystal of me and bring it back to me. Oh hi thief please give me back the crystal. "Yes I'm a thief, but I only stole the crystal because the guy Vanessa is with right now is a blackmailer and he threatened to kill me if I don't farm crystals for him" "Oh bs he threatens everyone but never follows through with his threats. Anyway I will farm 50 crystals!!!! for you so that you give me back what you stole from the blackmailer so that you can pay the blackmailer." At that point I would have to either farm the 25 missing crystals or buy them in the city, walk back, pay the thief to help a blackmailer to find Vanessa... for some reason. The games play time is only achieved through fetch quest, after fetch quest and annoying random encounters and stupid decisions of the protagonist.
Keeping it simple: The Good: 1) The combat system and controls are intuitive, and chances are if you've ever picked up a turn-based RPG, you'll know the drill instantly. 2) The retro-pixel style (ala SNES days) is colorful and the art in general is well done. The anime-style 2D art shown at the start and during special attacks is very well done. 3) Though there aren't many musical themes, those present are both appropriate to the retro style and upbeat. 4) It doesn't wear out its welcome. After 6 hours it was done, and I think that was about the right length for this game. The bad: 1) The story isn't the worst, but there are some exposition dumps that aren't very meaningful unless you want to play the next chapter. Ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm not really that interested in seeing what will happen next. 2) The dialog is cheesy, and our hero is a bit on the wussy side (ala the protagonist in Evangalion). 3) The combat doesn't require a lot of strategy and the "power-ups" related to the gems you pick up aren't really intrinsic to the story or action. I finished the game without knowing what most of the gems in my inventory were for. A good bet for a weekend of fun if you find it on sale for $5 or less, assuming you don't mind RPG Maker cheesiness. I played during a month of coffee breaks at work, and if you're looking for a very casual, nostalgic JRPG-lite, I'd recommend it.
RPP-Maker game made with most unique assets (afaik), a short game and felt way to much generic, making it too expensive for it's true value
It is the best game for me Good game system without buds
More then worthwhile to play and enjoy, atlho its been a while since the game came out, altho there have been / are issues with chapter 1 coming out im still hoping onto hope that we will see chapter 2 and onwards sometime. (will be posting once in a while to show Sherman3D there is still at least one person who continues to think of this game, and hopes to see it completed.)
