RPP-Maker game made with most unique assets (afaik), a short game and felt way to much generic, making it too expensive for it's true value
It's a game.
Excellent spritework, good music and solid world-building marred by flawed writing. Episode 2 is not available on Steam, and episode 3 is nowhere in sight. One of those "fun to see" games.

Keeping it simple: The Good: 1) The combat system and controls are intuitive, and chances are if you've ever picked up a turn-based RPG, you'll know the drill instantly. 2) The retro-pixel style (ala SNES days) is colorful and the art in general is well done. The anime-style 2D art shown at the start and during special attacks is very well done. 3) Though there aren't many musical themes, those present are both appropriate to the retro style and upbeat. 4) It doesn't wear out its welcome. After 6 hours it was done, and I think that was about the right length for this game. The bad: 1) The story isn't the worst, but there are some exposition dumps that aren't very meaningful unless you want to play the next chapter. Ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm not really that interested in seeing what will happen next. 2) The dialog is cheesy, and our hero is a bit on the wussy side (ala the protagonist in Evangalion). 3) The combat doesn't require a lot of strategy and the "power-ups" related to the gems you pick up aren't really intrinsic to the story or action. I finished the game without knowing what most of the gems in my inventory were for. A good bet for a weekend of fun if you find it on sale for $5 or less, assuming you don't mind RPG Maker cheesiness. I played during a month of coffee breaks at work, and if you're looking for a very casual, nostalgic JRPG-lite, I'd recommend it.
Tags: Topdown - RPGMaker & Party RPG Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Abandonned Episodic. This episode is almost only padding. You will constantly be sent to re-grind the same areas over and over. What little plot there is gets nowhere. Only episode 1. Plot barely starts getting into motion and it ends. Released years ago so other episodes not likely to come. The episode 1 itself is 90% filler and 10% lukewarm plot. They have a setup for cool Kaiju vs Mech fights but they completely waste it. I seriously feel like this game wasted my time on purpose for no good reason. Its all window dressing. The initial town, and the first time you hear the tracks. You are charmed. The initial missions are a little superficial but you forgive that, and you think the wild areas are a bit uninspired but its just the tutorial. But imagine replaying Final Fantasy III and being stuck in Nashkel the whole time and only being allowed to go to the Esper Caves. You start getting bounced around by NPC from corner to corner of the city on silly errands. You get sent back to the wild tutorial area more than a dozen times for nonsensical reasons and you just realize, there is no more content. The devs are trying their best to strech what content they do have as thin as possible. Its all padding, filler, no nutritional value. The progression for leveling is broke, you will barely do any more damage at level 30 than early game yet your pool of health and mana grows, and yet you unlock no new abilities. The shops barely have any items. The magic crystal Esper system is not implemented and instead functions as a replacement for the RPGMaker potions. The plot has a good concept initially, but the characters do not evolve, the plot becomes very black and white, and the protagonist seems to have no sense of willpower or direction. You constantly get the same one flashback because thats the only one they have, at least half a dozen instances of the same flashback. Side mission npcs give items you get from trash mobs as reward because there are no other items to give. Mid game you can buy items that are also late game's quest rewards because there was not enough items to go around. Thats just scatching the surface guys. Stay away from this. Why are the portraits and Ki skills pictures so horribly jpeged?
