Soulblight is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It's a "roguelike" top down retro brawler with lightweight RPG elements. The only notable differentiator in the game is the progression system uses the concept of collecting "traits" rather than XP or whatever else. Unfortunately this turns out to be more convoluted than enjoyable, a twist on a mediocre Nintendo Switch game that arguably has no place on PC. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Soulblight has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for "Prying", choosing one of the progression paths, trivial to achieve, but less than 10 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 10 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Soulblight has the laughable, eye-watering price of $15 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $15 asking price for this game could get you games like "Phantasmophobia", "Horizon: Zero Dawn" or "Resident Evil Village". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
I really wanted to give this game a chance but the bugs killed it. The bizarre controls and visual style make it hard to understand what is happening. So, I looked up beginner's guides to better understand it and gave it another try. But then the controls reversed and stopped working randomly until my character died. Then on the next go around a popup notification (that blocks the view of the center of the screen) refused to go away no matter what button I pressed and I was forced to quit. For these game-breaking bugs to exist in a 7-year-old game clearly indicate that there is no ongoing support from the developers. I guess I'm just spoiled on that front by the rest of my library.
There are some great things in this game. THe visuals are wonderful. The character designs of NPCs great. There's a great mysteriousness about the world. However the gameplay is so weird. It throws too many enemies at you early on so it's hard to want to proceed any further. The overhead thing is okay but it really doesn't make you feel like you are in the wor.ld and kind of breaks the immersion as you never know what you are fighting without a visual like how the NPCs are. The whole grip thing is a nice idea but REALLY hard to get the hang of when there are so many creatures and they run away from you all the time.
Ну и говнище. Ничего непонятно, инсерт опен хуйсерт то это понял, а че дальше делать хз, боевка просто уебище 0 из миллиона

If you have played either Athalina RPG or Hero RPG from the days of free browser games this will be a bit of a nostalgic experience. Unfortunately there are more similarities than the art style. There are very clear upgrades from those games as well, but also downgrades that can't be looked past. The art in this game is awesome. It's a bit confusing when seeing some colors stacked on top of each other and you're not sure if that space is walkable or not, but I managed. Strange glitches that completely take control of your character every time you choose a level. You always walk towards no modifier and have to walk back out again to choose a modified run. The controls of your character randomly changes when following the red path after selecting a level. The controls were fine. Not good, but playable. I got used to the inventory system in 10 minutes of game play which is more than I can say for a lot of AAA games. It's a complete waste of time to read dialogue. After playing a bit more I realized that there are some ways to cheese combat. You can just slightly back up while swinging a two handed weapon and hitting them at max range. Because it probably does a lot of damage it will stun. Or if you find really fast weapons that also stun you can just stunlock to death. I like the first option because it keeps the enemies at more of a distance. Equipping a shield is asking to die. It's does nothing comparatively. The window of your parry is so convoluted and only works 50% of the time. Shields are supposed to widen the window for combat to actually be interactive in any way, but they kinda just don't... at all. Combat still is just predicting if they're going to strike 2 seconds in advance. If you fail, you get an injury. :/ The transmutation system has never given me anything good even if I maxed out the transmuter value. It always just gives candy. sux. I reached the boss multiple times and am confused as to what is even happening and what the goal is. Tons of enemies surrounded me and I died even though I had almost 190% and all my equipment was purple and gold. It just kinda feels bad to lose a run when you don't understand what or how your supposed to fight. It's not obvious. I tried guessing on what i supposed to do by going towards parts of the map to see if there was an objective. Tried killing the enemies, but they just kept spawning. Eventually I just died because 5 people surrounded me and I no longer had any agency in the game. I intend to play a bit more, but I can already see that I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. They are making other games currently. Haven't looked at them I was thinking an update to the combat by at least make the parry a little faster. Putting an objectives stage at the top of the screen for boss fights. And fixing the controls would elevate this game. Would I recommend it then? Maybe. Tried again. Easier to play with a controller. Still just as broken.
Visual presentation makes it very difficult to figure out what you are looking at in Soulblight at any given time. Combat just looks like you are fighting very aggressive circles. The very first mission has you taking out over a dozen enemies in stealth, and it gets boring fast. Especially since there is no indication of what you are trying to accomplish and why.
