This game was terrifying when I was a kid and it has aged well in my opinion. Even now the jump scares from enemies being just behind the door you just entered still get me sometimes, the puzzles are also great. I love horror games and his is one of my all time favourites.
Are you afraid of being alone in the dark? Or are you actually afraid of NOT being alone in the dark? If you are thinking about buying this game, read my thoughts about the game, and maybe they will be helpful for you to decide it on your own. The Good (, which make the game stand out) +True dual campaigns: Unlike the minor variations in classic RE1, this features two completely different routes. Edward Carnby focuses on combat and action, while Aline Cedrac is heavy on puzzles. It’s much closer to Leon and Claire's campaign from the original RE2. +The radio system: You can communicate with the other protagonist at almost any time. This isn't just meaningless conversations, since this often provide essential hints on how to progress. +Immersion journals: The character’s journal is an excellent ingame resource for tracking your what happened and what you have to do without needing an external guide. +Pursuer enemy: There is a "Nemesis-style" enemy with infinite health that pursues you across room transitions. If you use the radio you can actually confirm that yes that enemy is truly invincible so you shouldn't waste ammos on it. +Yes or No choice: If you played other survival horror with fixed camera and tanky controls you are familiar that from time to time we get a "choice" such as "Do you want to climb down the ladder?" and always we can safely choose yes. But here, there is one moment, where you choose Yes and as a result you are going to get Game Over immediately, so you are forced to load back your previous save file. This can be frustrating to some players however. The Bad (, which make the frustrating) -The walking requirement: This is the game's biggest quirk. You cannot interact with items, doors, or switches while holding the run button. If you run everywhere, you will miss too many of the items and you won't be able to advance, thinking the game is . -Hidden untold mechanics: The game features a brilliant mechanic where turning on room lights can instantly kill certain enemies without wasting ammos on them. However, the game never shows you this, and because you can't turn on switches while running, most players never discover it unless they watch tips before playing the game. -Finding items: Items only blink when your flashlight shines directly on them (except for notes if I experienced it well). Otherwise even key items are nearly invisible, because of the pixelated graphics, and since I played classic Resident evil games, which had this "shining" feature all the time. -Resource Management done wrong: Enemies can respawn. Since the game doesn't warn you, it’s easy to trap yourself in a "soft-lock" by wasting all your ammo on enemies that will just return later. Neutral (, which is up to you) > Modern PC Issues: The cutscenes are broken (black screen with audio). You’ll need to check the Steam Community guides or external solutions for a fix/patch to get these working. Maybe it is better option for you to buy this game on Gog than on Steam. If you want to play the game, launch it and when you think nothing is actually happening (no sound, no image, just black background), then press enter and at least you will hear the intro but can't see it. To skip these scenes (just like the ones that will appear later ingame), press enter and voila you skipped them. > You have to Use the keys to unlock doors: Unlike Resident Evil, you must manually select keys from your inventory to unlock doors, it doesn't unlock it automatically when you press the interaction button. > Exiting the map: Also, the "Radio" button is used to exit the Map screen, which I don't understand at all, since it will force you to try communicating with the other character, which wastes your time a bit. > Saving: You have to find charms to be able to save your game. You can save anywhere if you have at least one charm, so no need to go back to "Save rooms". > Inventory management: You have infinite inventory slots, just like in classic Silent Hill games, so again you don't have to go back to "Save rooms" to find the "Inventory boxes".
🎮 Reseña de Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

retrieving old memories on ps! -was one of my best horror games atmospheric (keeps you on your toes)/ good puzzles. -one bad thing is it doesnt support controllers at all here. -monsters are hard to kill but still challenging which i love it. -better to play it alone using headphones! xD -creepy/challenging/surviving/nice story! reminds me of alone in the dark on 3DO :D
22mins in lol i never played this before and im a sucker for fixed camera ps1/2 graphics horror games. i know i will love it but how we make it full screen
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare was an awesome experience from start to finish. If your a fan of the classic Resident Evil games , you'll definitely love this. The game has that same tense, creepy atmosphere where your constantly on edge, solving puzzle's, and trying to survive 9/10.
DICA PRA QUEM NUNCA JOGOU. To falando sério. E a história, é bem sobrenatural e demoniaca, puxado pro lado esoterica.
Мой обзор на версию для Sega Dreamcast, в техническом плане она намного лучше: ЧИТАТЬ "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare появилась на свет спустя долгие шесть лет после третьей части.
