A very well done detective game. The story of a famous writer who was murdered in a cabin. In the same time, detective Alicia was visiting that town for her vacation which seems to be cut short due to the sheriff's request for her help. Accepting his request, Alicia starts her investigation. I enjoyed the story which contains four chapters, once you finish a chapter, the investigation will move to another area which will not allow you to re-visit the previous locations even with the fast traveling map which the game has. This game doesn't have any hidden objects scenes, however, it has many puzzles which varies from easy to hard. I loved the game's art, loved everything about the details and colors choice. The characters design wasn't bad, but not the best. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1347270600 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1347422142 They did a very good job with the voice overs especially the main character. It is rare to hear the character commenting on everything happens and doesn't sound like a loop. I found her sarcastic comments funny. I liked the addition of the very good and useful journal which keeps track of the story, characters bio and your gaming experience (How many puzzles you've skipped/solved and how many hints you've used!) Pros: +Beautiful graphics. +Good soundtracks. +Interesting detective story. +Good voice overs. +Fast travel map. +Steam achievements. Cons: -The cutscenes seem a little bit slow. Judging from the ending, the game seems to promise a sequel which I can't wait for! I do recommend this game for casual adventure gamers who love puzzles! (Special thanks to some guy who gifted this. Many thanks.)
A point-and-click that...actually works pretty well!
Alicia Griffith - Lakeside Murder was quite a treat to the eyes. It's a murder mystery story combined with a point-and-click adventure title, a hidden object game, AND with minigames along the way. Though the story may be quite cliche, the visuals and programming are quite well done! Join Alicia Griffith, an ace detective who hoped to get a little relaxation after already solving a murder mystery. Strangely, her idea of relaxing from a murder mystery...is by solving another murder mystery (that's commitment!!!). In this game, you'll basically have a tutorial and 4 acts: The murder scene, a quiet town, a creepy mansion+graveyard, and some ancient ruins. After completing one act, you'll be unable to go back to a location in a previous act. The visuals of Alicia Griffith - Lakeside Murder are quite well-done and are wonderful to look at. Though there are CG animations with the characters that feel strange or out of place. Of course, if you're a perv, then it's good for you to know that you'll see Alicia Griffith and her cleavage quite often during the events of this game. Overall, though...it's a quality that took some talent to accomplish. The minigames/puzzles ranged from simple (which most of the puzzles tended to be) to difficult. I saw myself only skipping 3 puzzles throughout my playthrough. The Quetzlcoatl puzzle, the key puzzle, and the sun/moon puzzle. If you're stuck on those puzzles, don't feel bad...I couldn't solve them either. Most of the other puzzles, though are very simple and I haven't had a reason to really click the hint button often. There is one strange issue I had on my 2nd playthrough where clickable areas/backgrounds were replaced by plain white boxes. This may be due to me alt-tabbing mid-game. It was resolved when I shut the game down and rebooted it. Aside from that, the only real complaint I had was that the voice-acting would occasionally mistake the pronunciation on a word or a typo would catch my attention. So...to recap: PROS: + Hot protagonist + Great artwork/visuals + Good voice-acting + Mostly simple puzzles + A helpful hint / puzzle-skip button (if you're stuck) CONS: - Some puzzles I have no idea how to properly solve - Occasional typos - Occasional misspoken words Alicia Griffith - Lakeside Murder is a pretty good title to join the ranks of Steam's store and your library. Needless for me to say, I recommend it. Alicia Griffith - Lakeside Murder is normally priced at $10, but I would recommend a price of about $5 for what you're getting. On a single playthrough (with minimal-to-no hints or puzzle skips), you'll be finished with this game in about 4 hours...a fair length. Basically, you'll have a pretty good day/afternoon with this game. Check it out! 8/10 This murder mystery won't murder the esteem of your library!
Very nice game, looks like casual HOPA games, but it is not... it is more than that. Very interesting storyline, good crime story with a twist at the end. Looking forward for a sequel. Gameplay is great and feeling of mystery is all the way, puzzles are creative and interesting enough to tickle your brain, but not to difficult to solve. Gameplay scenes and location are getting more and more interesting towards the end. Tried to solve all the puzzles by myself but if stuck there is also good hint system. I would also say that it has very good choice of music that enhances the experience and ambient of the story.
I'm surprised this game has so many positive reviews. It's basically a Hidden Object Game in all ways except that it lacks actual HOG scenes. You'd think this makes it a regular point&click adventure game, but it feels of HOG through and through. Which in and of itself isn't bad, I don't dislike HOGs. But almost every single minigame puzzle was either a tile sliding puzzle or one of those lights-out style "get all these parts arranged/moved/toggled in a certain way, but moving/toggling one part moves/toggles one or more others". These get old REALLY fast. Also, in grand old classic adventure game tradition that needs to die out already, you'll be doing a LOT of pixel hunting for hot spots to find which parts of the scenery is interactable. The "sparkles" option just doesn't work - I think it only makes like 3-4 interactables sparkle in the whole game. Of course there's the Hint button which tells you what to do next, but who wants that. Story is about average for a HOG. Some of the voice acting isn't very good, though the player character's voice actress did a fine job. Graphics not nearly as good as, say, Artifax Mundi's titles.
Genre
Ein First Person Point & Click Adventure
Story
Fazit
Ein doch recht gutes First Person Point & Click Adventure.

Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
 Follow third group
A detective goes on a holiday and gets caught up in an investigation of a murder. It soon links to a past murder and our heroine is hot on the murderer's tail. The answer lies in the past and one learns about the Mayan culture and rituals. I wasn't enthralled with this game. Graphics were just average, so was the music which I had to turn down. Voiceovers were very good and well done. Puzzles were fairly easy, but in some cases explanations were pretty basic. Twice I solved a puzzle, but the game didn't move on. This is definitely not a HO game....more a point and click adventure. Another glitch I struck was that the fast travel map didn't work for me at all, so I had to backtrack a fair bit. Definitely buy this on sale. 6/10.
Menuda desfachatez... ¿ o tal vez no ? 5/10
It's OKAY, but I would not recommend, rather get yourself some Artifex Mundi goodness. NEVER has a game made me break as many locks as this one. They basically never require keys rofl Loading times are slow, transitions are slower. The story is an absolute drag. Do not expect to solve this with logic. DID I MENTION CLICKING THREE TIMES FOR INSERTING KEY - TWISTING KEY - TWISTING KEY AGAIN to open anything, oof
For a 2016 game I'm unimpressed.
This one came across as pretty bland and wooden for me. The art didn't do anything for me, the animated scenes were atrocious, and the characters were just laughable. Pretty soon after starting the game, I realised there were no hidden object mess scenes at all in the game. Typically these types of games come with them to add depth and fun to the gameplay, but ultimately the game just boils down to: find objects, join things together occasionally in your inventory, use objects, solve mini-puzzles. That's it. And to be honest, the puzzles are pretty tame. Even with getting stuck a few times and having to do a 2nd play for a missing achieve, you can see it still only took 4 hours for me to complete. You get the usual suspects - sliding blocks around to clear a trapdoor, untangling wires, rotating wheels to form an image, getting a deputy's hat and putting it on his head, drugging a poor old dude's mint tea with centuries old sleeping pills... any seasoned hidden object gamer would have no trouble here, but perhaps it's just a little TOO basic. There are some typo errors too. Nothing a good proofread can't fix. Storywise, it's solid enough. Slow and unresponsive mouse clicks however, can make it frustrating when you're in the zone and speeding through at a nice pace. Frequent cutscenes are slow to cancel as well. Even though the achieves are pretty easy, I still can't in good conscience recommend this game. Good stories need good gameplay as well, and while it's a good attempt, it needs to do a bit better.
