Just not quite enough here. It is sad because with the art assets and effort put into the game otherwise it would not take many more mechnics and design elements to make this an interesting if casual game. But right now this is definitely for people who mostly just want to play something mindless.
Short version: 54%
It took three attempts, but Lonely Troops finally managed to create a somewhat enjoyable Build-A-Lot clone with Megapolis, which I can actually recommend for those who like casual city-planner/time management games.
Long version:
Megapolis is the third in the casual city building series made by Lonely Troops, where players need to create small city blocks on a 5×5 grid by meeting certain level goals. While it still retains the problem of its predecessors—small buildings make almost no money and large ones earn more than you can spend—they finally came up with a clever concept to circumvent this. Instead of building new towns, the game is about city redevelopment, meaning most of the stages start out by already-placed older apartments that generate a modest income, and we can use that money to build new houses. There is also a new resource type, electricity, which also affects regular maintenance: as long as the block is powered, buildings don’t break down, removing one of the most obnoxious elements from previous games. But there is a big problem with it: on early levels, power is too expensive, and by the time the power plant is unlocked, apartments make enough money to never rely on building one (especially since it is terrible for neighbourhood appeal). Still, looking at it as a whole, Megapolis finally reached the point where playing through its levels could be fun on occasions, so if you want some time management game where your task goes beyond glorified road construction, then Megapolis could be worth a try.
If this game were free, I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. It is really fun for about an hour or two. After that, you have literally done everything and have no need/want to play anymore. The "campaign" is merely a long tutorial that is not necessary. The scale of the game/sandbox mode is extremely small and you are very limited in your ability to be creative. There may be DLC or something that makes this game worthwhile, but the core game itself is simplistic and has no longevity.
A time-management and puzzle game that is designed for (and probably easier to play on) a touchscreen. Keyboard shortcuts for functions would greatly improve playability with the keyboard and mouse. Slow starts and busy toward the end of each scenario. I found this one to be the easiest of the 3 *polis games from Lonely Troops. Lonely Troops created a lot of amazing games. But before they made those, they created this. What is this? It's a game from a boring trilogy. All three of these games are almost the same. They are cheap and they look quite appealing. You can even buy a cheap bundle of them all. Townopolis, Romopolis and Megapolis trilogy. It's a bit misleading in terms of the gameplay. They look like a classic city builder simulator. But it's quite the opposite, it's a basic clicker. You click stuff and then you wait for a while. Then you actually repeat that process again. And again and again, until you get the end. It really feels like a very basic mobile game. Maybe I would give it a pass, if it was free. But paying for this game seems quite sad. There is a lot of much better city builders. Steam is literally full of those cool games. And this 'game' simply isn't one of them. This is just a weird clicker with buildings. Sorry, but I really can't recommend this. I have to give it a huge negative review.
I dont even know if to recomand this game or not i mean is a nice game but also i feel like is bad too as some levels can be really difficult to achieve in the time they give you and it can be very pain in the ass sometimes....and good side of it is that it give you feeling of being lets say a architect and you can build your own city ..so anyway if you love this kind of games with building ..you need try this game ..enjoy !!
Quite enjoyable, casual strategy/management game. Took me about 8 hours to finish everything. It doesn't have some complicated gameplay, so if you expect deep strategy elements with realistic economy then you should seek elsewhere. At the same time I enjoyed my time spent with it and I'm not quite sure where all those negative reviews come from. Yes, this game might not appeal to everybody and I wouldn't really recommend it in normal price range on Steam, but for around $0.20 of bundled price, I really, really think this is a very polished gem with puzzle elements that can bring a lot of fun compared to its almost non-existent price. Excellent way to relax with something more casual for a change. --- If you liked my review, you can find more of them on my profile and on my curator page.
I'll start by saying I consider the "About this game" blurb to be wildly misleading. It says "build dozens of houses"...only if you continually knock them down and rebuild them. The game is set in a 5 * 5 grid, making a total of 25 grids. That's it!!!! The whole game is played in 25 grids!!! And not even all of the grids can be built on. This game has been likened to Banished. Which is kind of like saying "Tic- Tac-Toe" is just like a jumbo crossword puzzle. It could have had potential had it been developed. Maybe if the grid was around 150 by 150 this might have been fun . Or maybe if the description was more accurate: build up to 25 buildings, people wouldn't buy it with the expectation that it had more substance.
Very simple but entertaining city management game, with simple but pleasant graphics. If you are looking for a Sim City, Anno or other games like that, this is not your game, it is too simple. Recommended for players who are starting in this genre or who are under 12 years old. The game is cheap, and I bought it on a sale for less than $ 1, so I recommend it. 6/10 Hey, if this review has been useful to you, you could follow me on: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38997970/
