Cricket management goes to another level as Cricket Captain 2022 puts you in control. A major re-design of the player aggression system provides greater realism, coaching options and analysis. Limited over matches have been remodelled to give greater balance and reduce collapses.

Look, at this point I'm probably the sucker for continuing to hack at these games. But, as a Christmas present to myself - one that was ultimately refunded - I decided to check out the 2022 volume of Cricket Captain despite knowing it was going to be the same game it was ten years ago. Unsurprisingly, nothing's changed. No improvement, no development; even the old habit of adding in current series (modern and historical) is gone to just be met with the same menus, the same gameplay, and, bafflingly, the same performance issues. But then, small as this game is, its bones are so old that they probably struggle with Windows 11. But, it's 2022 and we don't have women's cricket included and nothing's changed since the 2013 volume - and, given the price, that's *bad*. I'm not unsympathetic to this being the product of a small, dedicated team. But when a database update is flogged for £20+ in the knowledge that there's no competition, that sympathy becomes somewhat reduced by the feeling of being taken for a ride. But, as I say every year, I want these games to get better. I've been playing since the 2005 edition and to see so little improvement in almost twenty years isn't just annoying, it's sad. Really sad. And that's how this edition of the game made me feel. SAD.
Best in class by far! if you love management games then get involved. Its like Football manager without all the extra faff and egos because a diva got benched. 700+ hours played so far its addictive.
This is what i have been looking for in a cricket game for years, its a management cricket game. Players can go up and down on form, injuries, retirements and if you're a cricket nerd like me the full range of stats are great... However, this is my first game in the series and it doesnt look like they change much apart from playing lists.. its simple but a lot of fun.... to me its probably worth about $20 AUD... fun, simple but not much changes.
Best cricket management game on the market.
The batting crashes are worse than ever.
This is probably as good as it gets for Cricket games. There is much to recommend it to the traditional cricket fan. I like the player development aspect and it is great that you can opt out of 20/20 etc. The game play can be very frustrating. I really wish they would sort the toss out, the opposing captain appears to have a double headed coin!!!
Same problem as the other games in the series. Impossible to find a difficulty level that leads to a balanced game. You are not rewarded for carefully selecting a team, nor for bowling to a batters weakness. Run rates are very uneven (AI scores very quickly, you slowly). Batting collapses for no reason on good pitches but also Bowlers doing little to nothing on in good conditions. Opponents being able to bat out entire days 4 & 5 to win/draw a test. even when 600 runs behind. There is a great game in there, but they've not found it and I no longer wish to waste any more time on this franchise. Overall, a very disappointing and frustrating experience. As a cricket lover, this game could be so much but falls so short. I cannot put more time into something so annoying. Games like this should never have a difficulty mode. Look at Football Manager. No difficulty and one of the best sports games of all time.
Hours of fun. Currently managing England sitting bottom of the world. Only way is up. Doesn't really change year on year but still provides a great deal of enjoyment
best cricket manager game, all releases of this game.
