Some issues: - The text somehow doesn't align correctly at 4k resolution, making it hard to read at times. - I had to look up where to go next twice. Can be hard if you have a terrible sense of direction. - Jumping puzzles/platforming was a frustrating mechanic. Fell to my death more times than I can count due to small rails and character auto-rolls after a jump. - Sometimes the game toggles off the lock-on for no reason (I have turned on all settings.) - Lack of build loadouts once you unlock respec. Combat and difficulty: - Many enemies have annoying delayed attack combos that easily stunlocks you. Parrying feels great when it works though. - Difficulty spikes when you meet a certain Blade character, but then it falls off again. The difficulty progression felt overall weird and not spaced correctly. - Some zones are packed with enemies that I found harder than actual bosses. I ended up skipping quite a lot of them as the time investment wasn't worth the rewards imo. Build Variety: - Game features a ton of fun weapons to try out. Once you reach a certain place, you unlock respec and you can change your build whenever you want at branch free of charge. I do wish, however, there were more build options compared to other "soulslike" titles as Nioh or Elden Ring. Conclusion: I liked the game more than Code Vein. I completed it in about 16 hours while exploring most of what it had to offer (I think). I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of the soulslike genre.

On the cover, AI Limit is a "by the books" Souls-like that does away with the concept of "Stamina" in exchange for a "Sync Meter". That alone is sufficient enough for an "elevator pitch" but it does such a discredit to the game. This is an exceedingly well-made, well-balanced Souls-like that deserves far more recognition than it received. While the story is... confusing, the world design is simply incredible - calling back to the days of Dark Souls 1 where paths and entire areas were interwoven so cleanly. I never grew tired of exploring new areas of the map (even if some were... more cliched - like subways and sewers and, because it had to be there, a poison swamp). The controls are also perfectly emulated - spoken from somebody who might as well play these sorts of games professionally. It is also a grander experience than one might expect - I put a solid 25 hours into the story itself. And then spent a good few hours on the DLC. I do want to take a second to mention the "free" DLC - Furnace of War. It is far better than it should be - essentially taking the Dark Souls combat and overlaying it on top of a Rogue-lite experience. It definitely has that "just one more run" feel in a game that is already 100% complete. This now sits with Lies of P as one of the best non-From Software Dark Souls out there. And absolutely worth any fan's time. (Also, I think this is what I wanted Code Vein to be - what a disappointment that game ended up being.)

I've played the game all the way up to the true ending, and I played on a melee strength build with the serrated halberd. I've decided to give this game a try because some Youtuber says it has great map design and exploration, but I've mostly felt lost af and had no idea where to go next when playing. Combat is serviceable, The sync rate system which rewards you for staying aggressive works well enough. I also like how enemies stagger in a consistent fashion if you keep staying on the offensive. I just find the game hard to recommend because it's really just an ok game, and didn't really do anything outstanding for me,
