Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 13 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

By far the best 4X grand strategy game out there. If it's on sale, get it. It does things better than Age of Wonders 3 (Heroes, unit customization, music, story impact, voice actors, damage types make more sense, looking better etc.) and even just crushes AOW4 in most aspects. I recommend playing through the whole thing and then 100% the galaxy empire stuff, which is an meta progressing game mode where you level each race and technology separately to gain cross game currency and "upgrades". After that check out the interesting mods for this game which can completely change the way you have to manage your units. It does have some flaws of course. Most important ones are the bad naval combat, stupid AI, unbalanced units, expensive DLCs (especially horrendous campaigns, I don't recommend playing these) and too few combat maps considering how many hours you can burn with this game and I did not play a single match online. Even though I normally do not like sci-fi settings, this one is just interesting enough that I don't care. Highly recommend, better than AOW4

I should have written this reivew a long time ago. Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a great game. A interesting twist on Age of Wonders with is new Science Fiction setting (with some more fantastical elements like Psionics.) It is a game that still looks great in my book. One of the best looking 4x games still in 2025. Has a lot of interesting faction. And if you want Age of Wonders, but a bit more directed. A bit more constrained then Age of Wonder 4, then this is a good option. The two games play diffrent enough that I find this game still interesing even if I like Age of Wonders 4 to. So if you missed it, get it! The very fact that I when back to this after Age of Wonders 4 should show that this is still a strong game. And I love Age of Wonder 4! (Oh and at this current time there is a lot of chines reivew bombing of this game. Has nothing to do with the game. Just hate directed at the published of this game. Should mean they own the game however if they are leaving reivews. So cool... Maybe they should go and play game instead and become a bit more happy.)
The campaign gamemode isn't that great, but the galactic empire mode is amazing. The fact that you can build an empire over time unlocking additional powers and abilities really adds to the replayability.
I refunded this after about an hour when it first came out. Coming straight from Age of Wonders III probably didn’t help, the shift to sci-fi, the different pacing, and the way systems were presented just felt off at the time. It didn’t grab me, and I didn’t feel like pushing through to figure it out. Got access to it again later and decided to give it another go after spending a lot of time with Age of Wonders 4, and it’s a completely different story. Once you understand how Triumph builds these games, Planetfall makes a lot more sense. The mod system, unit roles, and combat depth are all doing interesting things, they’re just not explained particularly well up front. What felt clunky before now feels more like a different design approach. You can also see pretty clearly how Planetfall feeds into AoW4. A lot of the ideas are here in an earlier form, especially around unit customisation and empire progression, just adapted to a sci-fi setting. It’s still not the most accessible entry point, and I think bouncing off it early (especially coming from Age of Wonders III) is understandable. But if you’ve gotten into AoW4 and are curious where some of those systems came from, it’s worth another look.
Need PlanetFall 2!!!!
After trying AoW 3 and 4, I can firmly say that this is the best one of the three. The maps all feel very different from each other, I always get the feeling that every city is unique, The combinations for race and secret tech give place to very interesting playstiles, and your troops feel endlessly customizable with the addition of mods. After playing for a while the other AoW games, I felt satisfied with them, but I never had the urge to someday return to play a game, unlike what I feel with this one from time to time.
Product refunded... Could not get past the developers account login screen. My email returned an error, password reset email confirmation just never arrived.
I gave it a try, but honestly, it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t like the factions or the unit designs, none of it really clicked or felt interesting. The interface was kind of annoying to use, and a lot of the tooltips were worded in a way that made things more confusing than they needed to be. I’m sure there’s a good game underneath all of it if you’re willing to put in the time and really learn how everything works. But the way the game starts just didn’t pull me in, and I don’t really feel like investing that time right now.
