About
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven RPG that comes to life on the pages of the protagonist's journal. Set in a ruthless world where any form of dissent is mercilessly crushed, the story follows a man who has dared to challenge the existing order. Set out on a lifelong journey and become an individual able to carve out their own destiny... But remember that freedom never comes cheap.
Life in the Great Arknian Empire is harsh and its hardest Lot is yours by the circumstance of birth. You are a commoner, holding no rights and no title. To seize your fate and become the rightful heir to the legacy of the Brante family you will have to come to grips with ossified tradition and prejudice. Embarking on a life-long journey from one's birth until true death, you will have to endure great upheavals, face adversity, and make many difficult choices. Every decision will affect not only the protagonist, his family, and loved ones, but may even topple the foundation of the Empire itself.
At the turn of time
Every imperial citizen's life is predetermined by their estate. The deities known as the Twin Gods have bestowed this truth to the world, dividing mortals into Lots. The nobles lead and rule over others, while the clergy guides people on the one true path, and the lowborn suffer, toiling away for the glory of the Empire. You may accept your fate without question, but it is also in your power to change the cosmic order that governs all.
Your choice is not an illusion
Divided into chapters, the game keeps track of the player's deeds, the skills they acquired, as well as other overlapping circumstances that shape a unique plotline for each playthrough. Every decision has its consequences and you will be held accountable throughout the entire journey. To protect your family and loved ones, to impose the rule of the Emperor and make a fortune, or to try and change the world as you see fit... Make your choice, but beware of the follies of pride and ambition.
Fight for your life
One man is anything but omnipotent in this realm yet under your guidance, Sir Brante may become a person who can endure every trial fate throws at him and rewrite the very laws that govern his world! Develop and train your character, leveling up such traits as determination, sensitivity, and endurance. All of the hero's skills, starting with those acquired in infancy, will affect his personality, worldview, and relationships, ultimately unlocking new talents and possible storylines.

Find your own path
The first complete walkthrough can take you upwards of 15 hours! Numerous branching paths that affect the unfolding story will make every playthrough a unique experience: become a noble judge, learn the ways of the inquisition, plot a revolution as a member of a secret society, or embrace an entirely different purpose. Be brave and fate itself shall bend to your will!
There and hereafter
Resurrection system allows the character to keep his experience upon death, letting the player reevaluate past steps and make adjustments to their strategy going forward. Take control not only of your life but also your demise, then put everything at stake in this cycle of death and rebirth!

I really want to love this game, i will give it a thumbs up because the story and soundtrack are really great, but i couldn't finish the game. I ragequit and restarted the playthrough 4 times in the past 2 days. The game is divised in 4 parts, and no matter how I approached my choices, i got stunlocked at the end of chapter 3 with decisions limited to only 1 as either i didnt have enough remaining "willpower" (energy-like mechanism besides the other countless stats you need to level) or was short on 1 stat of something and was forced to select the worst choice out of 4. Basically you need to look up a guide to be able to actually have the ability to chose from OPTIONS in a game where choices matter?? Sorry but i won't do that. This game would be so much better with the willpower mechanic removed, that is the basically what the "suffering" is about. I don't mind bad endings due to poor choices i made, as long as i have options to chose from, since the game is all about CHOICES YOU MAKE. There's an option to turn on tooltips to see what stats you will get and see what you need for a certain path, but what's the point of that in a game like this? I don't want to be influenced by a choice just because i see it will give me 10 willpower that i will surely need later on, as without it, i just get locked out of options to chose from. It was so close to be a great game, which it is if you don't mind playing skip dialogue simulator. I recommend it to buy it on sale as 20euros is just too much to pay to be frustrated over and over again.

Writing this review for all the newcomers to the series. I HIGHLY recommend this game, and I also recommend everyone to avoid spoilers, since one major strenghts of Sir Brante is its writing. But here's sort of short summary(no spoilers) of why you should play this game. Basically imagine if visual novels genre had a baby with RPG genre, and ya get Sir Brante! The gameplay is you trying to help Brante survive, by making important choices in his life, shaping him as a person(as in, is he more pro aristocracy or not, will he go out of his way to help as many or play it safe etc) And I say survive, because, its surprisingly hard to get a good endings on your first, or even second run. The game requires you to have good stats for most impactful choices, which require you to make smaller choices in earlier chapters. If you fail to raise your stats sufficiently, or make risky choices n run out of lives, you'll get game overs, or worst endings. Which adds a LOT of depth to this game, you genuinely get immersed in this highly hierarchical fictional society, trying to weight in your morals, or even questioning what would be moral, since the game isnt so black and white in its writing. Even if you couldn't make choices, the writing alone single handedly makes it worth playing this game, The way characters are written, the events(like final chapter) unfold, makes the game world feel extremely realistic, and captivating. And the soundrack, oh man the soundtrack is just breathtaking. We rarely get classiical music in games, even rarer does it sound so, picturesque? All Brante music fits each scene perfectly, despite reusing a lot of tracks. Really the only downside to this game is that, its a little repetitive after a few playthroughs, because some events dont have much going for em, like childhood friend, but you can get at the very least 3 unique playthroughs, arguably 6, where almost all your choices can be different. Small spoiler free tip, you should try to not minmax too much for your first playthrough, unless you know what to do, and try to focus on increasing stats appropriate for the lot you chose, sure that means your playthrough might not end up as happy, since you do need to minmax a bit in earlier chapters, but thats just Life and Suffering of Sir Brante for ya

I have never been so disappointed in the consequences of my own actions.
This is a no-brainer at the current giveaway -- it's an interesting game with more interlocking systems and hard choices than are typical in, say, Choice of Games titles (some of which I've quite liked). The world it presents is an interesting one, well-designed to make the "moral" layer of choices not as easy as good vs. evil or order vs. chaos. The characters, like the factions and their philosophies, are ambivalent and ambiguous, and what passes for likability is often a selfish disregard for the consequences one character's freedom might inflict on another. The presentation is pretty good, too! The biggest drawback is that the pacing is slow: the player must "click to continue" many times between choices, and these clicks are sometimes accompanied with recurrent visual transitions that further slow the pace. While the game encourages you to consider rewinding and replaying, the thought of hurdling over "go on" through the same events a second time is not very appealing. A final point of praise: I really liked the four lives concept, which worked well both narratively and mechanically. All in, I recommend it.
The game quickly became dull, it just plays itself for two reasons: 1) Stats dictate everything because they grey out decisions (at the point you can only pick one out of five, nice choice game lmao). Because of this, I already picked a ton of decisions I didn't want to take, it locked me in a specific route I didn't really like and that route quickly became worse and worser so I just lost interest in that specific playthrough, I might start all over again. 2) You make very few choices, you're actually reacting to the choices made by NPCs most of the time. I really liked the initial part of the story because you discover things about the game world and the characters organically while growing up, which is really cool, and characters aren't flat or dull like the game itself. Well, except Sir Brante which gets pushed around by everyone all the time. Another element that is frankly badly done are the relationship points. If the players sees "5/5 friendship" but can't see that in the dialogues it means there's something badly done. That's why a ton of other games with relationship point just hide them to the player. Oh and localization... the italian translation it's so bad at the point it calls "noble" people that are lowborn in the family tree and "italian" is translated as "italien" (that's FRENCH by the way)
