I have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue how this game has a very positive rating. I suspect they are bought. The Ai in the game is broken and they will not attack units near them unless you tell them to. The game is a great concept but horribly executed. Dont be scammed and buy this game like I did.
Tactical strategy reminiscent of Command & Conquer with three types of gameplay: TBS, RTS, FPS. Create a huge army and defeat the zombies. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/HmcLbk2b_l8 Your task is to destroy the zombie bases. To do this, you join forces with allies (other human factions controlled by AI bots). If you choose to start a campaign, you control your units on a large map in turn-based mode. Each unit has a certain number of movement points. You need to show them the path along each cell of the field! When your troops enter into battle with zombies, you can choose to instantly (automatically) decide the outcome of the battle or go to the location map and fight enemies in real time with base construction and unit creation. In addition, you can move to the plane and play FPS mode (support your allies by shooting zombies from the sky). If you select a quick battle in the main menu, you move to a small location and play in real time. + 2 modes: campaign and quick battle. + 3 types of gameplay: TBS, RTS and FPS. + Various buildings and units. - The game takes up a lot of disk space (63 GB).
It has heart and some measure of spectacle but that's it. The UI and menus are comically bad. There is no story campaign at all. Just 2 maps to fight on. Bizarre thing is that it feels like an RTS game made by someone who has never played an RTS before. Simple UI things like Ctrl+1 to made group 1 is utterly broken. It creates the group then randomly adds other random units to the group after you click away. Say group 1 is 5 tanks. You come back to it later and it is now 5 tanks, 7 infantry from group 2 and a couple artillery from group 3. If this was a middle school programming project I'd pat them on the head and say "Keep going kid, you'll go far.". A full on Steam release for $20? Bruh. You should be paid $20 to play test this mess. No way is this legit 77% "Mostly Positive", I call bullsht.

I want to love this game i really do, i adore RTS games and this has soooo much potential but it's just not there yet, there's so many issues, one being you must be a snail when using the grouping box as fast dragging won't work, The voice acting? oh my good god, one of my guys got shot and said "I'm hit" with no emotion no worry or anything, voice acting was laughable at best, i was mainly sucked in by the idea of using a first person mode until i realised it's stuck at 13fps as soon as you get in first person and you can't actually control where you go it's automated and will actually steal control from you if you try to move left or right, the spot lights to help you see in the dark don't actually do anything now i'm not one for graphics i care more about the gameplay and i know it's made by 1 person but Cmon this looks like it was made on the N64 and not the good kind of N64 graphics, the kind where it hurts to look at for too long, you'd be better off making this a pixel game, If the dev is willing to work on this then it's got the ability to be amazing but at the moment it's just not there and seeing as it's not in early access i doubt we'll see any improvements, which is a shame, this could be so much more.
At face value, Age of Undead is an amateur attempt to create a real-time strategy game. Although it incorporates a few innovative options to the strategic genre, such as the ability for the player to immerse themselves in battles through supportive roles (air, first-person, and tactical), said options are restricted to quick battles, commonly known as skirmish matches. Technically speaking, the game appears to fail, with units habitually getting stuck in clusters or freezing in place, regardless of movement commands, and a substandard user interface that is both visually unappealing and difficult to operate. As of 2023, the game no longer receives updates and is less than deserving of its $20 price tag; Insane Dreamers truly lives up to its name.
Edit: I just want to say there was one other game i was considering, and that was cepheus protocol, when i bought this game instead. I recommend that game too, but this game has more war and strategy for 4x strategists than cepheus does... I need to go back and play this, but the fact i can play as zombies, rebels, and the standard military is really intereresting, and every conflict is a C&C style RTS. I'll only say that this game has SOOO much going on, on a slower rig it can get choppy. you literally have 1000 ai driven units on some battles. I just wanted to say i appreciate this game even more now having gotten a similar title with a different take on the equation. So this developer also made Home Wars, and i didn't realize that when i bought this, but i was like "man, they must be weird genius cousins at least" and sure enough, we have a 4x zombie variant of home wars! I like the many improvements, although being able to first person any unit was a awesome thing as opposed to just air units. This is thought out a lot better and runs surprisingly smooth ish. not much to look at, but it's good. Is it the best game ever? probably not, but it's worth 10-15 bucks.
While very rough around the edges for a solo dev this is one of the better RTS games out there. It's a good blend of everything. Defiantly worth a buy at it's current price.
Game has a ton of potential, but has it's flaws. I want to like the game, I really do, but it needs some serious work. 1) The AI is VERY clunky. The pathing is awful. Units will get stuck, and remain stuck. When you select all units to advance forward, some units will remain idle in the back and never move. When enemies are nearby, some units will remain idle and not engage. These issues become a very big problem in a huge scale warfare. 2) There's way too much going on. You have a ton of units. You also have aircraft, and each aircraft has to be managed individually. Precision attacking or bombing strikes can get a little difficult. It seems this game is just a massive Zerg Rush. 3) UI is not very friendly. Currently, pressing z selects all of my military units. I wish there was a way to just select certain units. Let's say I only want to move forward heavy tanks, while keeping artillery in back. As far as I know, there's no way to only select one type of unit. I haven't tried campaign mode, but due to all the issues mentioned above, I'll be putting this game away.
