Hello everyone. This is my review for AOE 2 DE. CIVILIZATION'S, ARMY'S, BASE BUILDING AND ECT. I like many things about the game, like the building structures, and building different armys to fight against enemy/s, and do strategys against them. The game has many civilizations, tech trees for each one, and almost different unit/s for each civilization/s. Maps are great too, from small to large, some. For 2 players to 8 playes maps huge and small, and the game supports modding which i really like. RTS, MP, AND AI ENEMIES. Multiplayer is really fun. Tho sometimes the enemy player decides to hide villagers on each corner of the map if you are wining the game, which is just sad and wastes time. I will be honest, the AOE 2 DE AI is BAD and not that aggresive in the beggining like the OG one. The early enemy armies goes straitgh to a tower if its sees one, as an actual player/s don't EVER do as it will kill the unit/s (Tho expert players don't build towers in the early stages of the match). And i found out that the OG one REPAIRS the battling ram/s or catapult/s if damaged, and the new AI don't do that. But if you give the new Ai time to prepare, like 20 to 30 min, it will run you down ( hard to extrime difficulties ). HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE GAME. Nostalgia is a key factor here for me as its faithfull to the original AOE 2, and HD eddition from many years ago, i played it like there was no other day and i have many memories of the game. RECOMMENDED. If you like RTS, base building, strategy games, you should try this one for sure.
I remember playing Age Of Empires 2 on a old computer the original version. This is the Definitive Edition which means it brings enhancements and its been upgraded for modern hardware and software operating systems. This the beloved Ages Of Empires 2 but better with additional DLC and DLC never before seen. I recommend this edition of the very beloved video game.
One of the most best strategic games ever, playing from 27 or more years ago ... thx for the nice and realistic strategic historical games ....
this game breaks every other update and you wont be able to play for months at a time. consistently
This game has stood against the test of time and dominated. Absolute masterpiece for an RTS game.
The best strategy game I know. Last 4-5 years they ruined the game a bit in my opinion. For low to mid elo players like me around 1000 elo, the constant addition of new civilizations makes the game too complicated to keep track off. Yes I don't mind losing against a player who uses the game strategy and mechanics better than me. Yes I do mind losing against a civilisation I have no time to learn, never had to play, never want to play and that uses weird magical civ specs that are atypical for age of empires. Most of all, there is no option to exclude the latest 3 or 4 DLC packages/latest 12 civs from your gameplay, as in, block those civs for ranked play or easily block those for everyone for a game in the lobby. We have now 40/50+ civs and around 1000 elo that's just too many. Please make money another way devs, this is not it. For the world's top players maybe thats fun, but that's like 5% of your player base. Might go back to HD edition for this.
Yes, I enjoy the city building, and RT battles.
Great nostalgic RTS, it still contains some memes like pathing - you can send troops to point A and they just are confused, taking a longer route or unintended route or just get stuck in an odd position + it lacks the modern UI and QoL features. The variety of civils are mostly by name, yes the list is huge but it is always the same thing all the time, basically quantity over quality. Even with the faults above it is a fun game and the price is not bad.
A great game that until recently ran on a laptop with windows 11. Because of a windows security update, this game will only use the onboard gpu, rather than your fancy dedicated gpu. Enabling windows to only use the dedicated gpu only for this program does not help. This leads to CTD. Thus this is now unplayable on laptops running windows 11
