It's not that good I bought it for basically free like 50 cents and I still feel cheated... Get the other similar title "Ant War Domination" It's way better while still being pretty much the same game. If this game's battle system was the same as AWD where stats - like defense - mattered; then, I'd be able to change to a recommended rating. As it stands, not fun at all. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2961637233

The original game was far better then this. I had to keep track of too much and the numbers for atk/def didnt match up, meaning if I had more def then their atk I would still get hit. Also keeping track of the tools and castle was annoying, it was better in the original game. Overall this is feels like an attempt to be "hip with the kids" and make the game look like a mobile game. I had days worth of hours in the original game, for this "remake" I couldnt do it. Hell if they posted the original for like twice or more then this "remake" then I would buy it!

The core loop is far too shallow to be called a strategy game: there's a map, but you never need to move anywhere to win; a battle system, but fighting actively hurts you more than it helps since you lose population either way; and builders/soldiers that turn out to be entirely optional busywork, since the castle levels itself up automatically from random events. Players note there's effectively one difficulty setting (trivially easy) and the whole thing can be finished by just clicking "advance" repeatedly with no real decisions required. It's also widely compared to the developer's own earlier "Ant War" game reskinned with a castle theme, and to the original 2004 Age of Castles it's supposedly based on, with much less depth than either. No achievements on top of that compounds the sense of a lazy, low-effort re-release rather than a genuine remake. Actual meaningful choices between building, fighting, and expanding — where each has real risk and reward — would go a long way toward making this a real strategy game instead of a glorified idle-clicker in castle skin.
I built my kingdom by repeatedly clicking one button. Over and over. this game is empty. there is nothing. As soon as the moat is finished being built I fully intend to drown myself in it. 1/10
Beat the game in 3 hours. Highly unbalanced, as if you take advantage of the final "Top Ups" in the shop you can basically reach level 100 by cascading level ups. This seems like a downgrade of the original "Age of Castles", sadly. The fact that this game outright discourages you from entering combat (you're better off never fighting) sorta cinches the bad aspect of this game.
Terrible, you can stay in just one place and still win. This is FAR inferior to the original
While not as good as the original game, it is still fun.
