About
After crash-landing on a deserted planetoid deep in uncharted space, your job is to keep your crew of four distinct explorers alive long enough to figure a way back home. Adaptory combines deep physics-based simulation with base building and discovery. As your team digs below the surface, relationships develop, challenges appear, and rebuilding the ship might eventually take a backseat to unraveling the mysteries of this seemingly dead rock.

Each crew member is a distinct individual, generated procedurally at the start of each game. Your goal is to keep them alive: breathing, fed, warm, healthy, and happy. Each explorer has their own set of skills, traits, and opinions they will not hesitate to share with other crew members. Their conversations and diaries are an integral part of the story and the gameplay, helping you figure out how to best utilize their skills in a challenging environment.

The crashed ship provides shelter and will keep your crew alive for a time. But to survive, you'll have to build a proper base and form a resilient community capable of facing any dangers. Your crew needs somewhere to sleep, eat, wash, heal, and hang out to keep morale up. Manage temperature, connections, plumbing - and that’s just the beginning. Complexity grows over time. Eventually, you’ll have to automate the base, because while it grows, and so does your list of tasks, your crew size does not.

Adaptory runs on sophisticated physics and chemistry systems, simulating gravity, temperature, density, viscosity, and even phase transitions with nearly fifty different materials to learn about and experiment with. Leverage them for your benefit. Need power? Set up a solar panel array to capture sunlight. Or power generators by boiling water with molten rock to generate steam or funnel natural gases to a turbine. But remember: each game is a completely new, procedurally generated experience with unique challenges.

Every game comes with unexpected twists and turns. Random meteor showers, solar flares, earthquakes can damage your base - but also provide unexpected opportunities in the form of rare materials or uncovering new veins and artifacts, if your explorers survive them. Even if your base weathers it without a problem, it might push one of your crew members to the breaking point or sever a relationship. How will you adapt and survive? Will you?

Adaptory is a self-contained story set in a much larger universe. You will be able to take a peek at it through the crew's diary entries, artefacts you might find deep within the planetoid, system logs, and even random conversations. From the history of your crew's home planet and their deep-space mission to the mystery of what actually happened, piece together a gripping science-fiction tale crafted by award-winning writer Cassandra Tse.
Adaptory is an ambitious game combining base-building, realistic simulations, emergent gameplay, character development, and randomly-generated events, and is being actively developed with regular updates as we approach version 1.0. We will be introducing new systems and mechanics based on your feedback, so please join the Adaptory Discord to get access to early builds and join the community!

- AI wrote ONI Clone. - Identical. meh - Even the same price of Oxygen Not Included at the moment. (this game is definitely not worth the same price of oni) maybe $5.99-9.99 max.. very very bare of a game, unfinished maybe alpha stage? - In-game words even seem extremely bare, like a cursor was placed and words was typed in. - Like others have suggested, the colonists seem to die at random. - suffocating at random, with oxygen. - dying of thirst and hunger when there is food and water. - high pressure issues kind of unnecessary . - storage is even extremely similar to ONI. - art work is similar to FALLOUT shelter. - I will not be refunding in hopes the game is well polished in the future. A lot needs to be changed, imo. Definitely needs a ton of updates and changes, something different that would make it different from Oxygen not included. Maybe change the whole suffocating issue all together, maybe once the base is built that's good enough, other wise it's basically Oxygen is not included, or once plants are planted and growing that's good enough oxygen in that room of the base or something different than the layout like it is now. - Reduce the price of the game imo, bring more players to the game that's scared it's a ONI knock off. - Make us (the gamers) have some sort of new feel to the game. - Add and change some of the things that are there now. I've played 1000s of hrs of ONI alpha pre alpha beta etc. I've played about 10 hrs of this game outside of steam, when opened from the game folder it's not showing my game time in steam some reason, not sure on that. Will play more in the future. You guys haven't lost me as a player, More and more developers these days continue to clone other games, and lawsuits keep getting filed, I wish to not see this with this game. Hope things change in the future. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT / UPDATE I've put more time and hours into it, to given and even more honest review. I feel this game has potential to be it's own type of game.. Definitely they got ideas from other games ONI Specifically. I feel this game could be good or better than ONI in it's own way. One of these recent small updates fixed some issues I've noticed. 60 days in on my recent new game seems to be working flawlessly.
Go play Oxygen Not Included.
Looks like cheap version of ONI, but crashing too much. I will give another try after time.
the AI kills itself more then it should, even gold fish kill themself less even with the perfect setup. you can lose the playthrew because they dont stand on the blok next to it to mine. just go stand on top and drop to there doom. this game needs a ton of work
Currently not worth the money. There is absolutely no content yet, even for EA. It certainly has potential and it might become a decent game over time, but just wait a year or two and see where this goes (if it does)
Soo the good points. a lot like Oxygen not included, but more simple like that. Oxygen not include was a little to much for me. BUT as is.. the pawns are down right dumb? i have dirt all over my OXYGEN base... no they want to go out and pull dirt from the farthest point that doesn't have oxygen at all. and die... like wtf? so till the dev's fix that.. i cant recomend this game.
I'll try to be as constructive as I can, but I won't sugar-coat it. This was explained to me by the dev as a story-driven, more casual ONI-insiped game (Oxygen Not Included). But after playing a few hours, it feels like ONI that's not yet finished. The story is neither immersive nor interesting unless you remember to open journals. These felt more like a gimmick to try and not look like a straight ONI rip-off. The similarities in terms of visuals, gameplay, items, recipes and tech tree are way too striking. Yet there are fewer things, and that makes this game boring very fast. It needs to change direction to become its own game. Normally, I expect an early access game in this genre to occupy me for a at least 20 hours. This is my being generous: I logged *hundreds* of hours in similar games during EA. Additionally, there are several bugs or missing features that I personally consider game breaking. For example, the meteor showers happen so frequently that I just get buried under debris before I could clear them. As a result, my characters keep getting stuck outside, and the solar power becomes a problem. Additionally, there's no way to stop them from going out unless I painstakingly herd them in and lock the hatch. This all becomes a full-time job, and I can't really do anything else, unless I completely give up on solar power or going to the surface. The characters are also not smart enough to do multiple tasks of the same type in one location, making them run back and forth like headless chicken, exacerbating the debris-clearing problem. It quickly becomes infuriating and barely playable. It was released way too early, in my opinion. Right now, it looks like a demo. Because of the overwhelming similarities with ONI and the lack of originality, I'd rather just play ONI. Unfortunately, I could not get reimbursed because I kept playing longer in the hope that I would eventually start seeing something original. I want to give indie devs the benefit of the doubt. Maybe if the game was sold at a much lower price, I could brush it off as a new dev's attempt at making their first game. But at this price, it's better to just pay a little bit more and get ONI.
Very early release with lots of bugs, also bare. not much content yet. give at least half a year or so. the people die off screen in 10 seconds and without any alert. they have trantrums in areas without oxygen and refuse to move. they run out of oxygen waay too fast. it's impossible to work in areas with little oxygen.
Unfinished game. Game lacks momentum to keep me interested. I understand that its an early release but Devs failed to put in sufficient game play in it. I would recommend others not to purchase until game has more content.
sorry this game is not worth the price you max the research less then 2 hours. Not much building items and content. when oxygen not included first came out has more build items and content. it should not be price at 20 dollar at this stage even with 20 percent off, at best i would say 5 to 10 dollars. I already pass 2 hour so i cant get a refund. however if the road map is keep with more content then i might change my review
