A very interesting game, the gameplay has a special vibe.

♥♥♥♥.
I can't explain what I enjoyed so much about this game. I think the graphics had a nostalgic feel to them, like budget games from the 90s. The gameplay loop is simply to explore procedurally generated world map tiles, loot the buildings within, complete any missions and kill any bosses. Then return to your village and upgrade it with buildings that grant you passive bonuses, such as boosting your attack power in certain elements. The combat is based on using various spells that you find or craft, you can have spells and items bound to all buttons on your mouse, as well as the keyboard 1-9, which leads to a very fluid feeling of control. The game starts out seeming incredibly complicated, but as you progress you quickly pick it up. Every new screen or new system that you encounter will show a tutorial popup that whilst on screen makes your character invincible, giving you breathing space to sit and understand what is going on. The tutorials will then continue to show up every time you encounter the same situation, unless you specifically click on the "Do not show me this again" box, which is a brilliant idea. The concepts that I didn't quite grasp on the first time around, I left them to show up again and again until I finally though I understood. The sense of progression is brilliant, as you kill each overworld mini-boss, everything progresses and you unlock new spells, new missions, and the whole world gets slightly more difficult. Once you defeat the Overworld boss of the continent and "Complete the Game", you can actually continue, seemingly forever, with infinitely scaling enemies and powers. For a totally random indy game, its brilliant. Loved every second.

I can see why people don't like it, but this game has a special place in my heart. Played it a bunch when I was a pre-teen 10 years ago. Decided to pick it up again recently! For what it is it's quite smooth. May have to change a keybind here or there if you can't get used to what they're normally set to. Lot of love

How in the hell have I never reviewed this game? It's a real hidden gem, it's so rough looking but it's amazingly fun to play.
The ActAraiser vibe is so awesome, and the feel of the game is incredibly exciting, but it just doesn't come together in refinement. This another neutral vote really.. and I wish the followup didn't over correct so much.
