強制終了により数時間のプレイが無駄になりまいた。 オートセーブもないので対策不能でやる気がなくなりました。
Remembering the Maxis release of A-Train back in the day I jumped on this as soon a my finances allowed me. I loved how in that game the rail design lead into business management and urban planning. It was complex for a 11 year old. Watching the system crunch my decisions invoke the best of what city builders can be. While there might be more beautiful City / Transport builders around this scratches an itch like no other. It has to be Japanese design and business sense that appeal to me. I've only put 5 hours into it and between this, Cities Skylines, Transport Fever 2 I keep coming back to A-Train. Negatives are thin as of right now, the music is repetitive and dry. I just Spotify a Simcity playlist and have at it. If you're willing to pay you will have yourself a quality game that's an evergreen title to keep going back to.
Amazing game... But require some serious commitment to understand it properly. I have been a long fan of the series but rediscovered it only recently. This feel like the right continuation of the A3 and A4. Just know that the "tutorial" last about 12-16 hour. But this is the most clear and clean explanation I've seen on how to play A-Train. So after going thru it. You'll definitively be ready to play any A-Train game!!!
A day in the island starts at 5:50 in the morning, as the first passenger train leaves westward from her depot at the north end of the single-tracked island loop. 10 minutes later, she reverses at the first station, with about 100 people onboard, heading eastward. At the same time, the second train leaves her depot at the south end of the loop, and heads westward. A single run around the island takes precisely 3 hours and 9 minutes, and for the next 18 hours and 54 minutes, both trains will complete exactly 6 loops and deadhead back to their depots at around 1 AM. Along the eastern portion of the loop lies an additional shuttle line that act as the express service for the more developed part of the island. As the loop train stops at the biggest station in the island, the express train on the other side of the platform would effortlessly match the arrival, enabling a smooth transfer every time. This will happen every 1 hour and 34 minutes, and after the last transfer connection, the express train goes to sleep at the next station. The night falls on the island, but the transport network must not sleep, as it is not just the people that needs moving. Passenger rail drives demand for developments, but it's the physical supplies that actually enable construction projects around the island. With all major factories for building material lying on the western side, and only one single-tracked loop to serve for the entire island, it thus now falls on the freight train to transport enough amount of construction material to the cities on the eastern side to last for the next whole day, before the sun rises. At 0:59, the first passenger train arrives at her last station. She switches the destination indicator to "回送 Out of Service", the train conductor checks the train for left-over items, and she departs for the depot. She will arrive there at 1:18. At the depot the diesel locomotive is already warming up, and with not even a minute to spare, the freight train exits the depot mere 2 minutes after the passenger train enters it, at 1:20, and like that a mad dash around the island begins. At 1:32, the same station that sent out the last passenger train just 28 minutes ago, now revealing its nightly role as a cargo station, loads building supplies onto the freight train. With those supplies, the north-eastern part of the island will be filled for the next day by 2:33. The freight train immediately heads back the way she came, through bypass lines laid specifically for her to cut time, and after a half loop around the island, at 4:10, she arrives at a station in south-western quadrant of the island, and receives the second batch of supplies. She will distribute them to the two cities remaining on the south-eastern part of the island, which takes the next whole hour, putting her at 5:14, that is 36 minutes before the first passenger train should be released into the loop, and she is at the opposite side of the island to where her depot is. Fortunately there is a backdoor entrance to the depot built just for her, and she manages to slide through there at 6 in the morning. At the other side just few kilometers from the depot, the first passenger train is already at her first station, about to reverse and head east again, going through the same track that the freight train just came back. A new day begins. This is not a video game exaggeration, and in fact is an over-simplification of what happens everyday where I live, Tokyo. An overloaded train network that has constant frequency of minutes on every line, numerous through-operations between different companies and over-complicated layers of varying express services, its movement around the day is an intricately choreographed dance. Japanese trains are known for punctuality, but it is not primarily for the customers; when trains are running late, as a passenger, you are more likely to experience improved frequency as the system tries to catch up to the schedule. No, its punctuality is for itself, for a significant delay can start a domino effect across the network that ends up causing an irrecoverable disruption to the system. I used to sink hundreds of hours into this game (well, the original 3DS version, that is) in my childhood. To this day this is the best city builder there is for me, Cities Skylines doesn't even come close. For both how major Japanese cities work logistically and how they look aesthetically, this game captures the essence perfectly, and I do not believe any other studio would be able to nail that feel. (btw my playtime is low because nowadays I play the original 3DS version emulated on my Android phone; the game's touch-centered UI works surprisingly well on mobile, and also because the Proton still can't handle this game on my Linux machine😢)
