gay and nice :3
This is definitely one of the best "romance" genre text based game I have ever played. Written very well and professionaly, original plot, giving you an idea about the universe enough to get you immersed in it, but not boring you with too many details. The 4 women you can romance are all lovely, with deep characters and their own rich background. The only downside I see for this game is that the game is too short and romances are kind of kept brief. It seems like the author focused on the plot and kept romance as a secondary aspect, but it is prominent and obvious in each chapter you play. There is a nice balance. I highly recommend it. It is gay and beautiful :') p.s: go support the author, she is queer and has many novels!
A Player's Heart and all of the other Games from Heart's Choice are completely different to all the other Games on Steam, as they arent really Games at all. They are interactive Novels. Unlike Visual Novels that you can find plenty of on Steam, the Games dont have any kind of Graphics and they also dont have any Sounds at all. You get a good Story though with a ton of different Choices and a lot of different Story Developments. The Game has 4 Girls you can get close to and it also has some Stats that will change depending on your Choices. One Playthough might not be super long, however for the asked 4 Euro you will get plenty of content. The Writing is good, but it was a bit too extra imo as they use a lot of Words you wouldnt use normaly and also write a bit too descriptive at times, using a bunch of adjectives. Once you get into the Story though I got used to it and it didnt bother me anymore at all. Just took me a bit longer to get me into it because of this. Overall, however I really have to say if you are looking for a good Lesbian short Novel in which you also can make a lot of Choices to get the Story best fitting for you then give this one a go, or any of the other "Games" from this Publisher. I don't think it was a bad game just not really for me. The romances felt a little rushed and maybe because that wasn't what I was used to from other CoG games, I found the fact that I didn't have to work for love interests to be interested in me a little bit annoying. Apart from that, the setting was lovely and I loved all the parts about opera.
Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 107: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (7/10) A Player’s Heart is an LGBT, regency-style interactive novel about fame, scandal, and performance in an all-woman opera troupe. Set in the elegant, riverbound city of Tristendesande, you take on the role of a rising stage star—playing either a deva (female roles), dragon (male roles), or artifex (tech and design)—as you build a reputation and navigate tangled affairs of the heart and society. On paper, it has everything: duels in bathhouses, whispered flirtations in salons, rival troupes with secrets, and four distinct romance options. But while the setting is lush and the premise ripe with drama, the execution often feels too muted to fully deliver. The result is a game that’s undeniably unique and stylish, but emotionally undercooked, with pacing and payoff issues that keep it from greatness. 🔷 Pros:

Lush, theatrical setting. The city of Tristendesande feels ornate and deliberate, from the patterned silks of the dressing rooms to the perfumed salons where gossip thrives. The language leans into operatic drama—bowed heads, dueling blades, whispered gasps—but doesn’t become overwrought. If you enjoy visual novels with immersive worldbuilding, this is a treat.
Character customization and roleplay. You don’t just pick gender and pronouns: you choose your role in the troupe, your demeanor, your backstory, and your approach to fame. Whether you want to be humble, mysterious, commanding, or scandalous, the game lets you commit to a specific persona with mechanical support (like performance stats or faction favor).
LGBT-centered storytelling. It’s rare to see a story where every relationship option is sapphic or nonbinary, and where the entire world is structured around women’s roles and ambitions. Romance is inclusive and identity is respected; your gender is never questioned, and your romantic orientation is treated as normal.
Social intrigue and small-scale drama. The tension here doesn’t come from world-ending stakes, but from missed cues, failed performances, snubbed handshakes.
🐢 Cons:

Slow pacing. The story takes a while to get going. Much of the early game is setup: rehearsals, introductions, salon scenes, and building favor with patrons. Unfortunately, it never quite rises from there. Major events—like political sabotage or troupe rivalry—are often hinted at more than shown, and resolution can feel muted. What should be a tightly wound narrative often just meanders.
Underwhelming romance arcs. Despite four available love interests, for ME, none of them feel particularly memorable or emotionally gripping. There's no real spark or tension—even relationships with more dramatic framing (like Celeine or Mervelles) lack strong turning points. Flirtations are brief, development is minimal, and scenes meant to be romantic often feel more polite than passionate. I attribute this to the short length of the game, rather than the writer's talent.
Low emotional stakes. You’re told your reputation is fragile, that scandal looms, that a single slip could ruin you, but the consequences never feel that serious. A failed performance might mean someone frowns at you. A scandalous romance doesn’t really change your arc. Even rivalries play out in soft dialogue instead of true conflict. It’s a drama that lacks edge. Днем ранее играл If It Please the Court If It Please the Court).
An excellent romance with an all woman cast and a fun premise. I enjoy theater a lot so I was very happy to try this one out. Lots of ways you can go about your acting career and 4 wonderful women who's affections you can pursue. Some NSFW themes of a sexual nature.
I enjoyed this quite a bit. I found the romance enjoyable. The LI's were likeable and interesting. I wasnt very interested in the setting at first, but I found my self surprisingly invested. There some worldbuilding that was interesting, but not obnoxious. My first game in the Hearts label and I wasn't disappointed.
Really liked it. Pretty well-written without being over-written. Only takes a couple hours to get through. Some of the world politics is kind of just dumped on one page, but it doesn't really matter. The politics of the Opera itself are more clear/important.
Choose your own adventure, set in opera. Are you star of the opera, or would you rather like to be constructing sets and making sure everything runs smoothly? The story is filled with intrigue and your choices will decide the direction it proceeds.
