Inadvertently bought this game instead of 999 the escape room game. Refund request was denied. 0.1 hours played.
It's really not my kind of game but I could see it being fun to those that like games like Angry Birds and so on. 999 lives to finish 999 levels with 999 stars to collect. I mean, it's hard to say it doesn't have content.
I played this for nine hours during a live stream and it was a rollercoasters of joy, rage and sucess, lovers of hard platformers/puzzle games will feel at home with 999.
After installing the game, theres no shortcut on my desktop, neither can i create one. After i close screen shake, the screen still shakes.. free mode isnt free at all u just got infinite lives other than 999, but u still cant choose stages. And its ridiculous that there's only ONE save slot ! so u cant play main game AND free mode at the same time! Finally, u cant press "R" or any key to restart..
This game is addictive and fun, the colours and 8bit music definitely add to the playability as well as the challenging but not impossible puzzles!
I'm 3-4 hours in, and my relationship with this game is tumultuous. The charm of a collect-em-all platformer is continually at odds with the frustrating inaccuracies of mouse-driven catapult mechanics. If you have a history with flash games such as Crush the Castle, and if you like Angry Birds so much you've seen the movie, then this game is for you. Catchy music, simple aesthetic, and a two-eared alien who I affectionately call "Shrek" when the rainbow palette cycles past green. Levels are well designed, and I think by far the game's best attribute is also its worst - it demands that you understand the nuanced physics of each jump. How far can you hang off the corner of a platform? What happens to your momentum when you hit the ceiling? Beware: this game is HARD. I've played just over 100 of the 999 main levels, and I've died 333 times. You might be thinking 3-4 deaths per level isn't bad compared to other modern platformers. Unfortunately for you, the main challenge is to finish all 999 levels with 999 lives. Fortunately, there are many other ways to play - there's a practice mode, free play, timed levels, hard levels, and who knows what else when you collect enough stars. Now if you're a collector (read: achievement ♥♥♥♥♥), run far away. There is an achievement to complete the 999 main levels and collect every star in each level (an optional, difficult goal) with NO DEATHS. I personally believe no one will ever attain this, but the point is that there are aspects of this game that will eternally mock you. So if you can let the achievements be optional and enjoy the game for what it is, you have hundreds of hours of enjoyment ahead of you. As for me, I've always been annoyed by catapult games, so I'm impressed that the game has kept my attention for this long.
Not great. I don't think this is a bad game as such. But it definitely feels like there was more effort spent on quantity rather than quality which I guess is kind of expected when the game is about there being 999 levels. The game is a bit unpolished- movement feels janky, physics are a bit annoying. The graphics are a bit basic and the changing colour scheme can be garish. On the plus side the music is quite catchy! But after a while it's in an annoying kind of way. I don't know- I only played it for an hour to try to give it a fair shake. Got maybe ten levels in? I'm not very good. Some of the levels seemed like a decent idea, and I'm sure there are other fun challenges and interesting levels nestled somewhere in the 999. If you like this kind of gameplay you might be able to see past the flaws- but it's not for me.
Recommended.
Meh
Neat, but pretty tedious after a while. If you get it for mega cheap might be worth a look if you are into weird platformers. BEWARE ACHIEVEMENT COLLECTORS: Some Achievements are almost impossible. Beating all 999 levels, with all stars, without losing a single life. Thats absurd. Im on a quest of at least trying every game in my library, of which I got plenty from all kinds of cheap mass-bundles, others I bought directly, yet others from sites like nivqgames. So please dont judge me for owning this title in the first place :D If you are interested in my journey, check out my other reviews :)
