Another instance of "I wish there was a neutral option". I'm generally not a big fan of Roguelites, but I am a big fan of Megaman X, so decided to chance it. Overall, 30XX has tight and snappy feeling movement, but hits all the notes I don't enjoy regarding Roguelites. Level design feels haphazard. Coming from Megaman X where there's tight flowing levels that feel well thought out and real differences that come up depending on chosen level order, this just feels like a jumble of floating stuff slightly shifted around 10 times a run with vague theming, and I found myself not really recalling any particular level, rather just its gimmicks. Which also just leads to an immediate knowledge of "wow, this gimmick's not fun at all, so i'd rather it just be earlier so it's done with sooner" after doing a stage once, which funnily enough, is one of the metaprogression upgrades. Some of the boss and mini-boss designs are really neat, others feel bland, and generally by the time you roll around to the last couple of stages you're more an issue than the actual bosses due to worsening visibility from weapons and effects. I got through a run successfully on about the 3rd go and just... kinda didn't feel like playing it any longer. Tried to swap characters to at least give both the main characters a go but, eh. Just zero interest. Upgrades can either feel completely useless or being notable and change things up quite a bit. Which just means if you get a bunch of boring upgrades you're playing a lesser MMX. And if you get interesting ones you're playing... a lesser MMX but its got RNG elements to it. Music's pretty good though. Overall, I think folks who really just enjoy the concept of Roguelites instead of just kinda being willing to put up with it if the game turns out to be just "that" good would probably enjoy it more than I did, but it just overall feels like it would have been better served going for a single refined experience (and then possibly making a Roguelite side mode afterwards). But, that's just one bread's opinion.
This game isn't meant to be played in online Co-op. Me and my best friend mainly purchased this game together to play in online co-op, Mega Mode. Whenever we play the game, and return later, select same file # to resume where we left off, one of us will crash, automatic kicked out of game, always, not sometimes. The gameplay is fun, but this game is mainly meant to possibly be play for solo/single player. Wouldn't recommend this game for online co-op to play with a friend, but if going to solo it, go for it.
artstyle ruins the game, blurry mess, just play the previous one.
This game is a poster child for the "yes more poison" brain rot modern gaming has infecting the zoomers with. No randomized timewasting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is not a good game. It's increadible to me that a game like megaman x5 and x6, both games I loved to death as a kid, get raked over the coals viciously for their borderline rude player hating design formulas. Yet the vote of confidence stuff like this gets because of its (frankly increadible) visual and sound design when the developers built and exposed an entire level creator for the fans, only to abandon it basically entirely in a state that demands you put up with its randomized nonsensical kaizo levels of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to enjoy it. The average Experiance I had by the way, was winning all the way to the end of the very first run I made (not counting suiciding in a few community levels), only to die a gorillian times trying to understand what exactly you are supposed to do to advance further than this point. which seems to basically be, play hundreds of runs and hope that the bit flip ♥♥♥♥ happens on one of them. Imagine if you will a player who played megaman X, while only 1 out of 100 runs would even see them find a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ armor part let alone finish a level. This game is basically unfixable in this state, its dying for a Mario maker 2 style level string that includes every cutscene by the developers. its what they should have delievered. but the market has dictated roguelite ♥♥♥♥ in a trough, and they are more than happy to shovel it. I remember when this kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ used to be a bonus mode.
A movimentação é simplesmente excelente. A estrutura roguelike encaixou surpreendentemente bem. Toda tentativa rende melhorias, libera novos recursos e incentiva você a experimentar builds diferentes. As primeiras derrotas acontecem rápido. Ele não tenta copiar Mega Man.
After finishing the core gamemode, my opinion of this game changed quite a bit. I went from a position of "This is a fun game but a bad roguelike" to "This is just kind of a bad game." Let me start with the way the game handles its three characters (four with DLC). You have a choice between Nina (a copyright-friendly Megaman X ripoff who plays like the SNES games) and Ace (a copyright-friendly Zero who plays more like the Megaman Zero games). The developer added a hybrid gun/melee character that has to use one style to charge the other and who generally kinda sucks, and a paid DLC character who is apparently overpowered but who I didn't like much. The problem is that the game was pretty clearly balanced around playing Nina and not Ace - bosses have giant screenspam projectiles that require constant dodging, and this means playing Ace is suffering because he has to be in melee range to do damage, which means that bossfights as him consist of dodging forever to land a single hit before going back to dodging forever. The item pool also REALLY sucks. Each character has one viable item synergy and then a bunch of item bloat that ranges from bad to outright detrimental: Nina has an "upgrade" that gives her gun random projectile deviation, and another that makes it shoot in a spiral pattern that is impossible to hit with. These "upgrades" are literally never useful and violate the cardinal rule of design for games like this: every item should be useful to the player in some way. The game doesn't really account for this either given that bosses in the end game have an HP pool in the five-digit range and you can potentially wind up doing maybe 30 damage per charged shot if you don't get the viable build. I could understand if the game intentionally didn't scale if you wind up with crap items, but there's no comeback mechanic like that. I should also mention that the final couple of stages are godawful unless you happened to roll a mobility option: they're the same spike-filled BS that you'd see at the end of any other Megaman game and are only nominally possible without being able to jump multiple times or fly. It's once you finish the first run that the game stops being good. Ostensibly, you're supposed to do this scavenger hunt to reach the true ending that involves a lot of dumb ARG stuff. The one that made me uninstall is the requirement to complete the tutorial, then go through the tutorial backwards with no mobility upgrades to reach a precision platforming segment that leads to having to fight the final boss (which again has TENS OF THOUSANDS of HP) with no upgrades. If you die, you have to restart the entire tutorial and the platforming segment again. At that point I said "Nope, not doing this" and uninstalled. The roguelike parts of this game need a total rework to make them actually good and not an obstacle. Avoid.
20XX is 100 times better than this. If your wanting a good Mega Man or Mega Man X type game get 20XX not this. If you've played 20XX but haven't played this game it's not the same. This game is kind of just the bones of 20XX and not much else. I mean don't get me wrong it looks better but that is the only good thing I can say about it. It feels and act like a different game entirely. The weapons aren't great the Augs aren't as good. I mean don't get me wrong there are some really amazing ones and a few that are better then what you can find in 20XX but they aren't any were as consistent as what is available in 20XX. The boss are terrible and I mean terrible outside of the final bosses there okay and challenging but not always in a good way either. The animal bosses a few of them fell really cheap at higher difficulties especially the owl boss and the lizard. I mean the game is at best mediocre. It's the kind of game I would play if I just wanted something to do.
I'm sorry but this game is absolute trash. Every aspect from 20XX has been changed, and not for the better. The music is bland, the level designs are sloppy, the background overpowers the foreground, the difficulty spike is atrocious... I could continue on, but you probably get the point. Uninstalling this mess and putting it where it belongs - in the trash.
