About
Entities known as The Originals have lived for centuries, granted time, granted power, and the freedom to abuse both. That power is now owed.
Noa Brooklyn was born The Collector, raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she did not choose: taking that power back.
Explore a handcrafted Amsterdam by day. At night, uncover what lies beneath its surface. Every facade carries a gablestone. Not all of them tell the truth.
The Originals walk among Amsterdam’s citizens, hidden behind human faces. Identify them. Mark them. When the Esbat comes, confront them in their true form under the moon. Collect what is owed.
Noa commands witchcraft and spellcasting passed down through generations of Zaindaris. Each target can be approached in multiple ways. Strategy, timing, and choice define the outcome. Every Esbat is a reckoning.
Noa is not alone. Aaron, summoned from 1999, now sees the world through the eyes of a cat. Together, they are one: Switch between Noa and Aaron across two radically different playstyles. One wields witchcraft. The other has four paws and flair.

I LOVE this game so far. The story is intriguing and it is visually STUNNING. (of course I'd expect nothing less from some of the same creators of assassins creed) Understanding that its in early access, it does have some things that need a bit more shaping. The cat mechanics are.....rough but the concept is brilliant! I felt like some of the animations were a bit tedious to repeatedly go through, especially after dying. I also had trouble with actually finding things. I'm not saying I expected more hand holding...but I didn't expect it to take me so long to find some of the secret rooms.... I did enjoy exploring in the process though. All in all I'm excited to see how this develops and how beautiful the end product will be.
First, it's cool to see a Developer that was f*cked over by Ubisoft (literally had their work stolen and was dragged through court) getting to bring his vision to light. The concept for this game is fresh and innovative and the vibes are great. Story is a very fresh idea that could end up being a standout in third person action-adventure games. Combat mechanics are still a bit rough, but so far, quite interesting. Developers have shown themselves to be transparent and open to criticism and feedback, as well as committed to make their game the best it can be. (Relating to the AI controversy, developers have assured that all AI assets will not be present in the final build and were used to make a game of this magnitude possible with the resources of a relatively small studio)
Most of these negative reviews are haters and have no more than 3 hours in the game. What you need to realize is this game is still in early access. Yes, there are going to be bugs, yes, there are going to be glitches, but you signed up for that when you purchased a game in early access. I personally find this game to be very fun. The story is interesting, and getting to play as a witch is badass! My complaints would be fighting is not quite optimized for mouse and keyboard, and it is hard to know where to go at times, especially as the cat. Other than that, I recommend giving it a try!

https://youtube.com/live/rVwY5lA9q2M
Pathetic. Combat is horrible. You can only get hit 3 times, regardless of by what, but enemies can stunlock you and just keep hitting you. You're also constantly interrupted by short "cutscenes" when new enemies approach you to attack you, destroying any kind of "flow" this clunky and jank combat otherwise might have attempted to have. However, it's mostly a walking simulator and it's not even good at that. "Explore Amsterdam", oh, the 4 streets you actually let me walk in before weird not-so-invisible walls show up? Or do you mean inside buildings, where I need a series of keys that I will need to get in order one by one since there's no real freedom inside either? "Identify the Originals", the game just does that for you. There's almost nowhere to explore and go to, so you're just gonna end up at the Original and the game will tell you who it is when you're there. Also, it's going to be a character model that actually has some detail, since all the pointless people are the handful of low quality models repeated endlessly and also literally moving through eachother. Oh and the handful of times an actually Dutch word is used within all the English dialog, it's not even pronounced properly.
Bought this game because the trailer made it look like a open world experience full of life and witchy mystery. Boy was i wrong, the game is boring and lifeless. The npc's stare at you with the blankest of stares as you walk past, bosses are all the same with no individuality and the fighting is anticlimactic and dull bonking demons on the head with a broom. I thought id give it a chance and play it but after 6 hours its still just as tedious as hour 1 and now it cant be refunded. Dont be dumb like me, save your money and spend it on a better game with more life.
I really wanted to like this game, I thought the premise sounded interesting and had the potential to be really fun, but it's just a disaster. The prologue of the game was probably the best part of it. Once I got into the chapters, it just got worse from there. I do realize that it's early access, so bugs are to be expected, but I genuinely think the game is just bad. For the record, I don't much care about the AI stuff, I don't know if it's still there of if it's been removed, but really this game has bigger problems than AI. First off, it looks terrible. I got a pretty good PC, so I figured the graphics would show up great at the very least, but everything is just weird and blurry as if set to the lowest graphics. NPCs are all over the place, walking on trees and jumping on roofs. During combat I've had enemies slowly morph into a wall, where I couldn't reach them but they could most definitely still somehow reach me. Don't even get me started on the health bar of this game. Dying after only 3 hits is atrocious especially with the difficulty of boss fights. I would end up just spamming the heal and attack buttons to get through it (because, really, that's all there is to combat. You can't really use spells since aiming and casting them takes too long and you get overrun by enemies, so spamming one button is the only way. You can also try dodging, but I have found, it doesn't tend to register a lot of the time. Later on I've unlocked more combat skills but they were more of a hindrance than help). The stealth is horrible and it isn't really what I'd consider stealth - you can walk around NPCs and distract them by turning on lights, you can rummage through other people's stuff all you want, but only up until you fill the stealth bar. Once that's full, it's immediately go time for garbage combat. You can't avoid it and you can't stop it. The enemies just keep coming and chances are, it'll all end in three hits anyway. And then you start back at the safe house, which for me personally was super frustrating, because that means having to walk through the most boring city on the planet back to wherever the mission needed me to be, and that takes time since the main characters move way too slow for my liking. During the game, you can also shapeshift into a cat, which sounds cool, but doesn't really work. The cat can't jump wherever it wants, only where the "jump" prompt appears, and even so the movement is terrible. I have gotten stuck on dozens of window sills and rooftops, because the cat couldn't figure out how to cross a 10cm gap and a "jump" prompt never appeared. It ended up being just a pain. Moreover the way the game plays out is more confusing than interesting. I'm not a stranger to puzzle games and puzzle solving but having to collect random, obscure clues around the city was way too grueling for me. You get a vague task to find out a person's name and no further directions. Then you scour the city for any notes or conversations that can lead you to said person, but even if you figure out where you're supposed to go, chances are, you'll still need keys to access the areas that you need, which means you'll have to go snooping in nearby houses for keys, which means more horrible "stealth", which means a possible siege outside and then a probable death. I have also gotten stuck on the death screen a couple of times. It didn't use to happen before the update, so it's probably a brand new bug. I figure it's because the game now can't decide whether to capture Noa and put her in prison, or let her die to then later restart the chapter. Anyway, overall, the game is rough at best. I can't recommend it to anyone in the state that it is. Sadly, I've played too long to still get a refund, so I guess I'm gonna have to come back to this game in a year to see if anything's improved.
Game is on the right track. The theme is fun, I like most of the effects, and there was a lot of thought put into the voice acting. I will admit, the positives end there. Combat is a nightmare. You have the same attack pattern for your staff, and that is virtually all. The spell casting in combat is virtually nonexistent, which sucks for a witch game. Not to mention, the first boss moves in such a way that it actually drops frames at a more consistent basis than anything I've ever played. I think the game was a strong start for being in playtest, but there is a SEVERE combat overhaul they need to complete before I consider the game to be worth the money.
