Ally yourself with the right parties, build out your force, and protect the Orion sector.
A Caelo Ad Terram.
For centuries the Protectorate have been the stalwart defenders of humanity’s ventures through the Orion Arm, guarding against enemies foreign and domestic of the United Earth Spheres. As humanity’s galactic infrastructure teeters on the brink of collapse over a deficit of the resource “flux,” the Protectorate brings honed tactics and heavy firepower to bear. Field veteran commandos to deep strike enemy positions, or bring the heavy firepower of your mech divisions to break enemy lines.
Grow. Expand. Exterminate.
The Grell are a tide of highly evolved plant-like creatures that spawn sites of raw flux crystals through the galaxy, and humanity’s first contact with alien life. As external powers dive deeper into exploiting flux for faster than light travel, the once passive Grell have begun to flood across worlds, wiping out those who would threaten their biosphere. Expand your blooms by spreading the roots of your biomass across the battlefield, and rip apart your enemies with twisted evolutions from the acidic Harbinger to the rampaging Reaver.
Across a Million Worlds, We March.
The Legion of Truth are a fanatical empire from beyond the reaches of known space, devoted to their Emperor and a pantheon of god-like beings. Their armies crusade across the cosmos, bringing all in their path under the Idals, and purging those unwilling or unable to accept the voice. Drown your enemies with waves of expendable Thralls and Fanatics, and break your enemy under the treads of the titanic Terror Tank, a mobile fortress that can reconfigure with the tide of battle.
For Purpose. For Survival.
The Xol are civilization of autonomous robotic consciousness, brought to the brink of extinction by the dark crusade of the Legion. Though fiercely individualistic, they are united by one imperative: survival. As the tide of annihilation turns against them, the Xol will bring the most advanced robotics technology in the galaxy to bear, wield the accumulated genius of their society, and wipe out all who threaten their future.
Rank to become the dominant battle group in the sector as you take part in a living, breathing galaxy shared by thousands of real players.
So much potential!

So far I have been having fun with the Galactic War gamemode. I find it a stress free way to "compete" with others while still focusing primarily on PvE. I look forward to playing other modes as they become more polished, and I am happy with everything I've seen so far. No lag or stability issues for me.
RTS Gameplay: ZeroSpace takes a lot of inspiration from previous strategy classics. Particularly Starcraft and Command and Conquer. Every unit has its uses and weaknesses, and you'll feel very smart when you account for them and achieving victory. Base management is simple and straightforward. Plop a command center on the big resource node (or start with one in most scenarios) and build and protect resource harvesters so you can build more buildings to build units, thus giving you the power to build more advanced buildings which will then allow you to build more advanced units. Expansion is rewarded, and critical since unit production is slow. Well, slower than C&C but faster than Age of Empires. Or at least it feels that way. So, you need a lot of cash to make A LOT of duplicate buildings to build a lot of units. Or else you'll lag behind. Combat itself is fast paced and visceral, with the outcome predicated entirely on army composition. Heavy Infantry like Bastions can melt armies of Grell drones like nobodies business, but send them against snipers and rocket troops and they'll disappear in seconds. So balanced army comp, and careful use of unit abilities to seize the advantage is key. Terrain and range also play a big roll here, as units with sufficient range or firing angle (missile units) can exterminate enemies from a “short” distance on the map, but elevation gives them all the distance they need to feel unreachable. There are of course units with abilities to negate that, and that's what keeps the combat fast paced. The UI layout is unintrusive and convenient to use. It also has a variety of quick selections directly control unit production or research. So, no map dragging for the corresponding building. But the Icons are very small and “Early Access” looking. Meaning you might not spot what you need right away. There’s also no dedicated formation control (Maybe it’s just in a corner somewhere I haven’t been paying attention to). Without it though, your units will form a blob and can be easy pickings if your enemy has the right army comp. This also bleeds into unit pathing. I’ve had vehicles run into walls and persist in running into that wall until I commanded them as individual units rather than as part of a group. It didn’t lose me the mission or anything, but it did slow things down. Story/RPG gameplay (MILD SPOILERS!): ZeroSpace advertises itself as an RTS/RPG Hybrid. At the moment, The RPG part is reserved for the campaign and for the Protectorate faction. The Protectorate is very Terran/GDI coded especially in their aesthetic, with some Roman ranking to add individual flavor. They seem vanilla at first. And since you’re experiencing the story through their eyes, the story may also seem “vanilla”. Your Protagonist, Aster, is a prodigious commander of the Protectorate. He’s dedicated to the cause, has a family history with the service, and he’s having doubts due to the actions of his shady superiors. Also, you’re fighting for Space-Oil. We’ve seen this story before. All the characters are very archetypal. There’s a by-the-book officer, a serious alien, a mystic alien, a freedom fighter, a best friend (you can guess what happens to him). But! The unique lore, details, and aesthetic give this universe and its inhabitants enough staying power to leave an impression and make you curious to learn more. You can access lore sheets on your home ship, to give you some neat context to the universe. Likewise you can read emails that show you a lot of character and even political nuances as the story goes on. Emails especially make this feel like a living universe, with all sorts of goings on besides the individual missions. That being said: The campaign is still under construction, but what’s here is enough to make me want more, rather than leave me wanting. And that’s a good thing IMO. That gets into RPG gameplay. You’ll get choices and bonus objectives which provide real consequences and mechanical benefits. You might unlock units from a merc faction, or find a bunch of hidden items and you’ll get more money or hero points to upgrade your units. And those bonuses will persist through the campaign. Interactions between Aster crew are fun, but simple. I said each of the characters was archetypal, but there’s enough individual nuance to make conversing them an interesting experience. Unfortunately, you get ONE conversation with each team member before each mission. So, you’ll only ever have one chance (barring multiple playthroughs) to ask even basic questions. And that’s annoying. And since the campaign in unfinished, you don’t really know if these conversations have a lasting impact. Some characters don’t even have conversations yet. But again, that’s being worked on. So, a standard story, uplifted by world building and character work. And RPG gameplay, while present, is unfinished and not quite as prominent as some might like. Presentation: ZeroSpace is a labor of love. You can even see it in little things like unit animation. The Grell are a hybrid of plant and insectoid monstrosity. The way their units scuttle, crawl, and attack shows a lot of care in making them an alien and dangerous force. I mentioned that the Protectorate are the vanilla faction, but there’s an industrial grit to them that really shines in their drones and vehicles. They are advanced but prioritize function over sleekness. This contrasts with their Marran allies/auxiliaries who have sleek armor and more (dare I say) alien looking weapons. Giving the impression that Marran gear is tailored to each warrior as opposed to being mass produced. The Legion is basically The Brotherhood of Nod as a space faction. That is, of course, a high compliment. Creepy occult architecture, energy armor, villainous voice acting, and hordes of chaff zealots making the way for some very dangerous elites. Even the difference in how the factions gather resources and build structures adds to the character and intrigue of the game. The Protectorate uses drones for most of their grunt work, while The Legion uses slaves for mining and some kind of holographic generation for building. It’s excellent characterization for each faction and shows a lot of love. The music, while standard fare, is fitting for the genre and setting. You’ll get drumbeats and horns during epic fights and that unmistakable sci-fi synth during quieter moments on the menus or the Galactic War hub. The graphics are not hyper-realistic, but they are, IMO, ideal for this sort of game and setting. You can tell this isn’t a Triple AAA production mind you, but there are plenty of moments where you’ll look at the action or some of the units and go “Wow, that’s pretty cool.” At the same time there are little moments, during game cinematics primarily, where the visuals glitch a little. Lips sometimes don’t sync, and eyelashes meld with character’s foreheads. Nothing game breaking, but it will catch your attention. Little Things: ZeroSpace is not a leisurely experience, especially outside of the Campaign. This game assumes you are a fan of RTS and that you have some experience. It’s not overly hard perhaps, but you will need to pay attention especially for missions in Galactic War (the best mode so far). Speaking of Galactic War, I wish there was more acknowledgement of what faction you were playing as. If I’m protecting the interests of an Earth Sphere Corporate House as The Legion, it would be neat if the mission giver would remark on that. Even if only in a comedic or off hand manner. Summary: If you like RTS’, I would be very surprised if you didn’t have fun with this game. It plays well, looks good, and is clearly the work of people who enjoy what they do. Yes it’s in Early Access right now, but what’s here is good fun and you can have a chance to help the developers make it even better. I heartily recommend ZeroSpace.
fun take on the genera
+++ Awesome multiplayer 1v1 gameplay, as is. If you're interested in a fun RTS, this is it. Quality of life improvements with the controls makes it possible to play with lower actions per minute and be competitive, if you plan out your build well. Most important aspect and i can't recommend it enough for this. I haven't been playing an RTS in about 10 years, and this got me back into the genre. + Good foundation for some pve fun, it's nice. - Campaign isn't complete yet and needs some work. Don't buy it yet if that's what you're interested in. A lot of potential there as well, though.
cool starcraft ish game amazing online setup like helldivers control board.
