A Caelo Ad Terram.
For centuries the Protectorate have been the stalwart defenders of humanity’s ventures through the Orion Arm, guarding against enemies foreign and domestic of the United Earth Spheres. As humanity’s galactic infrastructure teeters on the brink of collapse over a deficit of the resource “flux,” the Protectorate brings honed tactics and heavy firepower to bear. Field veteran commandos to deep strike enemy positions, or bring the heavy firepower of your mech divisions to break enemy lines.
Grow. Expand. Exterminate.
The Grell are a tide of highly evolved plant-like creatures that spawn sites of raw flux crystals through the galaxy, and humanity’s first contact with alien life. As external powers dive deeper into exploiting flux for faster than light travel, the once passive Grell have begun to flood across worlds, wiping out those who would threaten their biosphere. Expand your blooms by spreading the roots of your biomass across the battlefield, and rip apart your enemies with twisted evolutions from the acidic Harbinger to the rampaging Reaver.
Across a Million Worlds, We March.
The Legion of Truth are a fanatical empire from beyond the reaches of known space, devoted to their Emperor and a pantheon of god-like beings. Their armies crusade across the cosmos, bringing all in their path under the Idals, and purging those unwilling or unable to accept the voice. Drown your enemies with waves of expendable Thralls and Fanatics, and break your enemy under the treads of the titanic Terror Tank, a mobile fortress that can reconfigure with the tide of battle.
For Purpose. For Survival.
The Xol are civilization of autonomous robotic consciousness, brought to the brink of extinction by the dark crusade of the Legion. Though fiercely individualistic, they are united by one imperative: survival. As the tide of annihilation turns against them, the Xol will bring the most advanced robotics technology in the galaxy to bear, wield the accumulated genius of their society, and wipe out all who threaten their future.

Overall, a very promising early access thus far in my opinion. The game is still rough in a few places, especially the UI, but on other fronts it's very solid from my personnal experience. One very important note, don't let yourself think that this is a mostly pvp/competite title as it's sometimes presented. They have a big focus on single player too, which is the only thing that i'm interested in. The act 1 of the campaing is already available with 11 missions can already occupy you for a solid 6-8 hours depending on playstyle. The full campaign should be in the 20+ hours territory with a total of 42 missions The good : - The campaign presents a new engaging universe with tones of lore to dive into. Some cutscenes are missing or rough, but they are engaging. I love the mass effect like branching dialogs and choices to make. As a big RPG player, it's a dream come true to see this kind a of stuff in another of my favorite genre of game. - As for the story, you don't feel like you know how the game will end by the end of act 1, which is desperatingly common these days. Lots of mystery yet to uncover - Love having companions around the ship. - The Meta progression systems, while work in progress, show a lot of promise :) - Voice acting is solid - While being deep, the game feels very easy to take in hand, but i am a RTS veteran - Performance is great on my 6 year old rig (Laptop XMG NEO, i7 10875h, RTX 2070 SUPER (mobile), 16g RAM, SSD. No dips under 60 fps at high details, even in large battle, and the last patch (20/08) was focused on performance The less good : - The UI is both ugly and difficult to read in my opinion. The weapon type/armor aren't and the extent of bonus damage associated altough - In some environnement, especially early missions with Grells, the readability of the action is not always great. Foliage get in the way a tad too much I think - Some bugs here and there of course, like Mera being twice present on the field if you have her as your field officer in one the Arcadia missions - Some sounds are missing or need better mixing, making some units pretty underwhelming - The mass effect inspiration is sometimes a little to obvious for alien races. But the story is very different. - Some lore is a bit obscure because of missing cutscenes after the prologue (5 first missions). Like what is Zerospace ? Price may feel a bit steep, but the game is crazy ambitious and I love that. It's amazing what a relatively small team managed to put out. I felt burned after backing the debacle that was Stormgate. This is healing that wound. Strongly recommand !

The art design is great, but the sound and feel of everything else is not on the same level. Combat feels like watching pieces of paper slap against each other, like I was playing a rts made for mobile. I know it's early access, but I think this has a long way to go in terms of sound, animation, environment, and gameplay design/implementation. Will happily flip this review if the devs deliver.
UI still needs a little work but all and all i like this rts.... for what its worth its better than stormgate
Now this is what a good RTS looks like. If you've been holding off on anything since the old king of Star Craft 2, then this is what you've been waiting for. A lot of the people who made this are from the modding community that has kept Star Craft 2 interesting during the RTS drought. The skills and knowledge that was forged there has come into fruition here. And unlike Stormgate, it's not all of Blizzard's IP shoved into one setting! IF YOU HATE EARLY ACCESS >>>> DON'T BUY IT! (Yet) The game is very much incomplete. But the foundations of the game are fantastic. Unit control feels great overall, Faction concepts are neat, and the story doesn't revolve around a mass murdering marry sue! In the Campaign: So far the campaign only plays out the human faction and is very much incomplete. We've got like.... 4 or 5 missions that I would consider complete, With the opening hooks to an interesting story with characters that can actually deliver something to the story. Then there are another 5 that are solid gameplay experiences but are disjointed story wise. Missing cutscenes, Portrait artwork, ya know, the polish. In PvP: Don't look at me for this. I've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around against the AI, but PvP has never been my thing unless it's in the arcade mode. In PvE: The Galactic War is also very much in the early stages, but it looks to take the Starcraft Co-op mode, and add a number of solid layers over top. There is a pvp dynamic where players earn points for their selected faction as they play and those points help control solar systems in the galaxy. Each system gives you in mission bonuses that are relatively minor but can add up. Starting the mission with 2 or 3 times the resources you usually would or getting to slap another 50 to your max supply are nothing to sniff at once the minor bonuses start stacking up. Plus you've got persistent upgrades to yourself. Aside from the Commander level you would be familiar with in Starcraft, in missions you can randomly pull items that can change how you play by giving you stat buffs, Access to mercenary units, or faction abilities. Neat stuff that you can choose what to invest in to make more impactful. Plus if you fight over a solar system long enough, you will get a small but permeant buff from mastering the planet. +4% turret damage, +1% Unit HP and Damage, + Unit Sight Range. Stuff like that. These masteries are a neat concept and for someone who plays the game ALOT they will become impactful. But as of yet the Masteries feel lack luster. I do hope to see them become more interesting in the future. If you are getting this game right now, what you are buying is part of ACT 1 of the campaign, a super solid Co-op mode, and a PvP mode that I can't really speak on. The game is Good, and I strongly recommend you join me in supporting these creators who have shown they have the skill to do RTS right. And they have committed to sticking to this game for as long as it takes to get it done right. There is no final release window, It will simply take as long as it needs to be done the way it should. And that is exciting to me.
So many bugs and missing content. $40 for this? Go buy something ready to play.
Fresh new rts. Kinda fun to learn new stuff. Fighting is fun
So far its very fun and addicting. Actually takes me back to those SC2 days. The Galactic War is shaping up to be a great coop experience. Of course with anything there are flaws, like menu bugs and some connection issues that dont give you any info as to what failed or why... Other than some stuff that will be fixed in time its shaping up to be an awesome game series. Creating some crazy armies for coop, with some higher difficulties, and seasonal map rotations would be helpful for retaining players past the already cool campaign and survival mode. Regardless I cant wait to see this game in a few seasons and see what awaits us in ZeroSpace.
This is the best RTS since StarCraft 2 I am a long time RTS fan and this game has great mechanics and is off to a good beginning, I cant wait to see where its gonna be once its officially fully developed and released.
