About

Brilliant, burnt-out, possibly cursed – you play as operant Hershel Wilk, alias CASCADE. Five years ago you led your team into the abyss and have been haunted by your failures ever since. Now you've been recalled for a mysterious assignment that may give you a chance to prove yourself again.

Uncover secrets hidden in the lost corners of the city and within your own mind. Navigate a murky world of potential informants and adversaries. Pass skill checks to uncover their true motivations through subterfuge, violence, or deduction. As an operant, there are multiple ways to approach every problem - your choices and methods will be your own, and so will the consequences.

Find yourself thrown into a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, played out across an unforgettable city. You'll go up against international bankers, foreign techno-fascists, psychic doppelgängers, a paranoid TV presenter, a man with a box for a heart, and dozens more. Everyone you meet has their own agendas, beliefs, and secrets for you to uncover and turn to your own ends. In ZERO PARADES, even the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles for you to discover.

Operants subject themselves to years of psychological training to hone their minds into their greatest weapons. Do you favor animal-like reflexes, a philosophical approach, or a different cover story for every occasion? Through Conditioning, you'll turn the deepest aspects of Hershel's identity into potent abilities and unlock new paths forward. You can even change the rules of the game itself.

Pressures simulate the physical and psychological toll of being in-theatre. Exertion pushes dice rolls in your favour – just remember that you’re gambling with your life. Keep your Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium in check or deal with the long-term repercussions.

In this line of work you're going to fail way more often than you succeed. That much is expected of you. What matters is how you pick yourself back up. If the dice don't go your way (and they won't) you'll have to improvise and hope the consequences are ones you can live with.

синема LUCK AND SKILL, OPERANTS
Thank you for making this. There are so very few games like this out here and when it comes to classic espionage with trippy twists- is there anything on this level? Even close? Also, I'm sorry. I 'f'd it all up', but I knew. "It's Chinatown, Jake" is a vibe you can't miss. I hope the game does well and we see more like it, or perhaps different but similar. Familiar, yet not, as all games set in this 'world' are. For players out there, this is a great game. It doesn't do anything super innovative, its point and click, fetch n find, and make choices. But world-building, theme-setting and strange plot with all the spy twists and turns is fantastic!
too buggy for now
I really enjoyed this game. :D
If you're coming to this game looking for the worldbuilding and life that DE has, this is the wrong game. However, if you want intrigue, mystery, and general strangeness, this is the game for you. The writing may not be as good as DE, but I found the story so compelling and interesting, and I'm honestly sad that I can't experience it for the first time again.
Specifically, learning that everything that bagman said on the tv was actually true just filled me with a level of wonder and awe that was damn near unmatched.
This game makes you feel like a conspiracy theorist, and you are rewarded for it almost every single time. I've never had a game make me really feel like I am the character in such an incredible way (besides DE, of course).
Bleak and beautiful. When I was able to internalize a thought that didn't allow me to manually save the game, I knew I was in love. I appreciate a game that allows me to indulge my most masochistic tendencies.
Controversy aside, it's a great game with superb writing and really interesting ideas to explore. It features meta-musings on what constitutes a copy versus an original, and discussions on cultural domination and the soft power used to control rival nations. It's about overcoming past mistakes and facing the risk of repeating them just to get a better result. It’s sad to see the developers get sacked because of absurdly weak marketing and the constant negativity perpetuated by so-called Disco Elysium fans, who will criticize this game for the pettiest reasons yet praise some absolute Reddit-tier dogsh!t like Esoteric Ebb. I'd say this game does some things better than DE and others worse, but it's still a really good game that you should try.
HOLOCENE carried the game. Jokes aside really good, not as gut punching as Disco but it seems that the game is a bit more grounded on material and personal reality than making everything too abstract, it worked well for me, especially because when it gets crazy it kind of comes out of nowhere. Was not a great fan of the narrators voice felt a bit forced but it grows on you, maybe expecting everything to sound 10/10 creates this ideal in your head and when people speak different it puts you off, I dunno in the end I ended up liking the accent.
