16 AUG 26 - Don't buy it. I'm not saying it's abandoneware but after two years in early access I'd expect more communication or a better road map. I hope I can delete this in the future after being proven wrong but I'm not holding my breath.
I see potential if they continue to update but at the moment its just frustrating. The breaking point for me was when the game forced me to make a ton of enhanced work shops in order to advance, only to immediatly find out they dont work properly without a whole new frieght system in place. So I have to be able to make the frieght system right? The game wouldnt force you to make tons of buildings you cant use yet right? Wrong! The frieght system is in the next section of the skill tree that you cant even unlock yet. And is in several parts too. I have the frieght depot sure, but I cant build the trucks it needs to function yet. Then I had the same thing happen when I upgraded my mines and found out they need conveyer belts to function right. What conveyor belts? I haven't seen anything like that! How long until THOSE are unlocked?! And thats when I dropped it. Having buildings and their needs not properly explained in their discriptions is bad enough but making it so you HAVE TO make building you cant even use yet is either poor planning or just cruelty on the devs part.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Too many homosexual characters for my liking,
Lovely, but oh my god, the UI is absolutely entirely too small... Most of the text is simply unreadable on my screen, and that's with maxed UI size. Please sort this out with real accessibility features, or look at other games that convey lots of info, and how they manage legibility and clarity. Everything here is tiny, brown on brown. It made me stop playing, unfortunately.
The situation with New Cycle is a perfect storm: an ambitious but under-resourced team in a geopolitically difficult region, operating within a platform ecosystem that encourages premature releases. My refund in September 2024 was a vote of no confidence in a system that asks players to subsidize development without guaranteeing a product. Until platforms like Steam enforce stricter "playable state" requirements for Early Access entry, this New Cycle of disappointment is likely to continue.
Right ok. Let me start by saying I do like the game but as it stands I cant play it got long periods. HERE IS WHY. Buildings and other things look lost on the map as you are scrolling around which become tedious sometimes when you know there is something there but its lost in loads of bushes. Buildings all look the same, sometimes can be difficult to tell them apart when there are lots of things on screen. Only 1 well per water source, I put this as you end up with soooo many well scattered about everywhere and the range is pretty poor too. Constant interruptions by annoying whingey villagers. I can see they are hungry and I am already sorting issues out. What isn't helping is the constant interruptions. Infuriating and tedious. I didn't like it on frost punk all the time after so many hours and I don't like it here. Its fun at first and gives you contact with the villagers, but after a few times you know what to expect and its just becoming annoying. Tutorial isn't the most helpful for some reason. For the life of me I have no idea how to get electricity without googling things which I hate doing with games. I got wells in as many places as I can within reasonable walking distance, about 6 altogether for a population of 183 and they are still struggling for water. Yes i turned up the dials in the distro. There is so much reading, partly why the interruptions from villagers and other things popping up on screen all the time is getting tedious and seeming more obvious. I feel like I am doing more reading then actually building and planning. I know what I want to do I got the vision but I always seem to be interrupted by someone popping back up on screen with some kind of event which isn't really that interesting. Please just let me build my vision? Good points £6 from Eneba. if you cut out all the reading, and all the interruptions, its not a bad game to play. It is kinda like Frostpunk in some sense's so if you like that game then you will like this one I think its safe to say. The Demo I played ages ago was more fun then I have been having on the full version of the game this evening after buying it. I seemed to progress quicker on the demo. This was quite a long time ago now but I can remember having electric grids and all kinds of wonderous things. I also don't remember having to read about all these Frostpunk type pop ups all the time either. Would be amazing to be able to turn those things off. if that is already a setting and I have missed it then please leave a comment so I can toggle it for my next play through. So it is a NO for now. Not forever. Watch this space for updates and patches :)
Everything from GUI to the setting to ingame goals is frustratingly unclear. Why cant I assign anybody to gather stone if I have 30+ jobless population? Who knows. Why are there electric poles if I haven't even reached "iron age"? I am sure it's explained somewhere. What are the most basic needs of citizens? It's probably also explained somewhere. Game looks like it has potential but I do not like wrestling with GUI so I just gave up for now.
Kind of material management with no challenge? Idk, it seems cool but there's a lot left to be desired. Seems like they're on the right path though.
In my experience, games fall into three groups: Group 1 — Not for me. You start it, and within a few hours you realize it isn't for you. Years of experience and self-awareness reduce how often this happens, but it still does from time to time. Group 2 — Finished and done. You play it for roughly 30 hours, finish it, and nothing new is likely to come from a second run. Most games fall into this group. Group 3 — Hundred-hour games. The games worth your money and your time. Two subgroups: 3a — Repeatable. Like Civilization. You start a new world and each world is a new kind of fun. 3b — Long story. A single campaign so deep it takes you ages to finish. Wartales is a good example. You don't replay the same title, but you can return to the genre with a new story. This is a great example of 2 and it is a little better than it is double time at least
