About

Brilliant, burnt-out, possibly cursed – you play as operant Hershel Wilk, alias CASCADE. Five years ago you led your team into the abyss and have been haunted by your failures ever since. Now you've been recalled for a mysterious assignment that may give you a chance to prove yourself again.

Uncover secrets hidden in the lost corners of the city and within your own mind. Navigate a murky world of potential informants and adversaries. Pass skill checks to uncover their true motivations through subterfuge, violence, or deduction. As an operant, there are multiple ways to approach every problem - your choices and methods will be your own, and so will the consequences.

Find yourself thrown into a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, played out across an unforgettable city. You'll go up against international bankers, foreign techno-fascists, psychic doppelgängers, a paranoid TV presenter, a man with a box for a heart, and dozens more. Everyone you meet has their own agendas, beliefs, and secrets for you to uncover and turn to your own ends. In ZERO PARADES, even the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles for you to discover.

Operants subject themselves to years of psychological training to hone their minds into their greatest weapons. Do you favor animal-like reflexes, a philosophical approach, or a different cover story for every occasion? Through Conditioning, you'll turn the deepest aspects of Hershel's identity into potent abilities and unlock new paths forward. You can even change the rules of the game itself.

Pressures simulate the physical and psychological toll of being in-theatre. Exertion pushes dice rolls in your favour – just remember that you’re gambling with your life. Keep your Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium in check or deal with the long-term repercussions.

In this line of work you're going to fail way more often than you succeed. That much is expected of you. What matters is how you pick yourself back up. If the dice don't go your way (and they won't) you'll have to improvise and hope the consequences are ones you can live with.

Worth successor to Disco Elysium

Excellent game. I'd say I liked it more than Disco Elysium. It's a refinement to that formula. Great character moments, worldbuilding, choices, gameplay, writing... The Opera never tires.
The game is really good; it keeps you wandering and exploring around. It is important to feel these emotions in an RPG. The game also surprises you with some of the encounters throughout the journey. I can't really say there are a lot of things missing. Also, don't expect to play Disco Elysium type of thing because Disco feels so much different. Disco is more emotional and impacts you on a more personal level, dealing with existential problems. On the other hand, Zero Parades is more about redemption. The character makes up for old mistakes and reconciles with her friends. The game hits you with great plot twists, and it honestly feels really good. That's why I finished it. In addition, it has a lot of world-building, mostly centered around politics and art. I especially like how they handle the art aspect. However, the soundtrack is a huge letdown and doesn't even come close to Disco Elysium. It's really disappointing that there isn't a single memorable or impactful track, especially since the game talks about music so much. Still, if you like Disco, you should definitely give this game a chance.
In the point and click RPG/Adventure genre, this is another top tier addition from ZA/UM. I can't help but feel that many of the themes and ideas within the game are somewhat of an allegory for the studio and development of the game. The backbone and foundation that Disco Elysium created is there, with pros and cons compared to DE. Updates to Zero Parades have brought a more streamlined system for optimizing skills with clothing and a still excellent thought and skill system. And the inclusion of the new status system with Fatigue, Anxiety and Delirium have brought about a really nice gameplay element. One that encourages the use of substances to manage and a more rewarding reason for sleep. Along with the removal of the day limit that Disco implemented. The game is familiar but different. Where Disco shines over Zero are in its soundtrack, and for me, the writing. Compared to Disco's soundtrack, Zero feels a bit hollow. While there are a number of great songs that pop up, they don't fill the game space as completely as Disco did. Disco decidedly had much much more time to flesh out and perfect the story. 10+ years of writing went into Disco and it's apparent. The depth that Disco's writing had I don't think has ever been matched in a game since, or before Disco. And, while Zero touches on some very critical ideas, it's apparent that the writing does not reach the same level that Disco achieved. But how could it? It's still a decidedly great game, with lots of replayability to explore different choices and results. It just does not have the same impact that Disco did for me. I spent a long time after playing Disco thinking about what Disco had to say, and feel that it had an impact on my own thinking. I don't think Zero will have that same level of impact. More likely, I'll just be thinking about some interesting characters and themes that have some unanswered questions. I'm not quite done with the game, but even here I can absolutely recommend picking up Zero Parades if you enjoyed DE or other games within the genre. Luck and skill, operant.
l just cant recomented that narrator sounds like a so unnatural like she dosent want to be there the characters feel no importans at all. all thouths feel so boring and unintresting the game paising is extremely slow and predictable l also found a lot of the text is not voiced acted and if you dont pay attetion you gonna miss key words in the game.
剧情太差了,文案故弄玄虚。
it only took 30 minutes for the narrator/main characters voice to get on my nerves. a heavy cockney accent with a california vocal fry sounding like a true crime youtuber trying to be spooky. I know these games are somewhat political and talk a lot about social economics and such but in the first 30 minutes they're throwing lesbians, communism, monotheism, anti-capitalism, and patriarchal misogyny at you left right and centre.
